In May 2022, my wife and I purchased a home in ******, **. With the home we also assumed the ownership of solar panels and a loan through Sunlight Financial. We assumed a loan of $15,095.03. We have made our payments on time, in full, for two years. In November 2024, we went under contract to sell our home. The buyers have agreed to assume the solar loan which is now valued at $13,488.09. When I called to initiate a transfer of ownership, the representatives are now referencing an internal policy that prohibits the transfer of a loan under $15,000. This policy or clause is not stated in my assumption agreement signed in 2022. There was never any mention of this policy in any email thread or phone call. Ive spent hours on the phone being transferred from customer service to originations and back. No one has any answer for where this policy is written nor will they transfer my call to someone who can explain. Ive asked the managers for an exception but they are unwilling to complete. I am about to sell my home and need the new buyers to assume the loan. We do not have the financial ability to pay it off in full at closing, nor is the buyer willing to do so. Im now seeing other comments on social media stating similar issues and seeing that there is a class action lawsuit filed against the business for shady investment schemes.Business Response

In the year 2022 I agreed to purchase a series of solar panels. We have been paying as agreed however we have been getting electricity bills higher than usual. We researched and found out the selling company, the installing company and the financial company all file for bankruptcy and I have a system that is not working and no one to service it or provide me a warranty.Business Response

I am writing in complaint against Sunlight Financial for a loan for solar panels. The company that installed the solar panel promised the loan was transferrable and now that I sold my house and tried to transfer the loan to the buyers, Sunlight Financial is not allowing the transfer. Page 6 of the contract agreement say the lender may authorize the transfer of the loan but Sunlight Financial is refusing the transfer. I have made my payments on time and never defaulted. Sunlight Financial is putting me in a difficult situation because I sold my house and need to move to be closer to family. It is these types of deceiving practices from companies like Sunlinght Financial that make hard working people became discouraged from investing in clean technologies. All I'm looking for is for Sunlight Financial to authorize the transfer of the loan so I can sell my house.Business Response

Dear Ms. ********************************* (Sunlight) takes seriously all customer complaints and appreciates the opportunity
to respond to this complaint by ****** ******* (Complainant) who is complaining about a loan made
to ****** ******* (Borrower).
As background, Borrower entered into a ************ System Long-Term Loan Agreement and Promissory
Note with ******************** (Lender) executed on June 2, 2022 (Loan Agreement or Loan).
The Complainant states that he and Borrower are selling their home and that Sunlight is refusing to allow
a loan transfer to the homebuyer. As an initial matter, Sunlight is not a lender and does not hold the Loan.
The Lender is the holder of the Loan and is the sole party who can approve or decline loan transfer
requests. The Loan Agreement explicitly states that a loan transfer is at the full discretion of the Lender
and that a loan transfer can only take place with the Lenders approval. As such, Sunlight cannot authorize
a loan transfer as the Complainant requests. The Lenders current policy does not permit loan transfers.
Sunlight recommends that the Complainant and Borrower contact the Lender directly at ****************
regarding this concern.
If the Complainant or Borrower have any additional questions or concerns, they may call Sunlight at 888-
850-3359.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because:
I contacted the Lender already and their response is and I quote "We just bought the loan from Sunlight Financial, but they service the loan".This looks to me that Sunlight Financial and the Lender, ********************* found a loop hole and are playing the blame game because they don't want to transfer or allow the buyers to take over the loan and are not explaining why they don't want to do it,
My wife, the buyers and I spent over 40 minutes on the phone with Sunlight Financial to work something out so the buyers can take over this loan and have the situation resolved, but again they would not allow the transfer.
This is a bait and switch situation. I don't have the means or know anybody in politics that can help me solve this problem, but I do have a voice and have the right to express myself and I do know millions of people in ************ and I have the right to spread the word about my situation. I will investigate how to get the media involved with this. This is not fair.

Dear Ms. *********
Sunlight Financial LLC (Sunlight) takes seriously all customer complaints and appreciates the opportunity to provide this supplemental response to the complaint by ****** ******* (Complainant) who is complaining about a loan made to ****** ******* (Borrower).
As noted in the initial response, Sunlight is not the Lender and does not have the authority to approve or decline a loan transfer. Sunlight understands that Complainant is unhappy with the Lenders decision, but that does not alter the fact that Sunlight does not hold the Loan and thus cannot remedy this concern. Sunlight recommends that Complainant direct his concerns toward the Lender as only the Lender holds the authority to approve a loan transfer. The Lenders refusal to authorize a loan transfer is not a failing on Sunlights part. The Lender is ******************** and can be reached at ****************. Sunlight has fully addressed the Complainants concerns and considers this to be a closed matter.Customer Answer

On 10-21-2022 Sunlight Financial paid Mana Solar for work not complete. Sunlight in turn started loan repayment which $1220.74 was paid. From 12-10-2022 I had been trying to reach ********** to complete installation, they ultimately went out of business. Sunlight was notified of this and since that time Myself and Sunlight have been in conversations to resolve this with no conclusion. As a result, My credit has been impacted negatively, and the loan incurred late fees. The contractor should have not been paid and loan should have not been in repayment status.Business Response

Loan ****4944 (Account #: ********** opened on Jan 26, 2024 for $100,000 with Sunlight Financial was used by Multitaskr to build an Additional Dwelling Unit (ADU) on my property. The company ********** has claimed bankruptcy and gone out of business. Multitaskr was making the payments on the loan. Now that they are out of business, payments will no longer be made on this loan. My contract with ********** is null and void. Multitaskr is currently under litigation for this matter in the court. I am writing this complaint to have Sunlight Financial remove the above lawn from my credit report and to cancel the account. Mosaic must seek litigation and or repayment from Multitaskr. Again, this account needs to be closed and removed from my credit report. I do not make payments on this loan and it the contract/terms of this agreement have been avoided and are null and void.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because:
Sunlight Financial,
I am reaching out to solve this issue again. For whatever reason I was informed when I called today that you all moved this back to legal for the second time.
I repeat, I am not trying to be represented by an attorney to solve this issue. I am trying to resolve this matter so I can go back to focusing on my job being active duty Navy. Please, please, I ask that you work with me. I have sent proof multiple times that work was not completed and that this loan is fraudulent. Even Multitaskr sent an email to you all confirming this.
Please cancel this loan and let me move on.
If someone within legal can respond to this email and or contact me that would be great so we can close out this loan and move forward.
Again: I sent several emails multiple times off all the proof about this loan that work was not completed and it was fraudulent.
Thank you for your time.

Sunlight Financial LLC ("Sunlight") takes seriously all customer complaints and appreciates the opportunity to provide this supplemental response to the complaint filed by ***** ***** (Borrower).
Borrower states that he has not retained legal representation and that he would like to resolve this matter directly with Sunlight. However, Sunlight received a legal complaint from ****************************** (**********) on October 18, 2024, naming Borrower as a plaintiff and Sunlight as a defendant. Accordingly,Sunlight declines to discuss this matter directly with Borrower. Sunlight recommends that Borrower contact ********** directly if he believes he is wrongly named as a plaintiff in the above referenced matter. Borrower can reach ********** at ************** or *******************************************************.

I am rejecting this response because:Dear BBB Representative, I am filing a complaint against Sunlight Financial regarding a fraudulent loan issued in my name. The contractor never performed any work, yet Sunlight Financial wrongfully disbursed funds. Despite multiple requests for cancellation, no action has been taken. I first disputed the loan on October 3, 2024, providing photo and email proof that no work was completed. On October 8, 2024, ********** also requested cancellation but received no response. I followed up again on February 6, 2025, demanding cancellation and reimbursement. Despite multiple conversations with Sunlight Financial managers who assured me the loan would be canceled, no action has been taken. In early March 2025, they finally issued Cancellation Request #*******, yet there has been no further update. A lawsuit has also been filed against both Sunlight Financial and Multitaskr for fraud, further demonstrating the severity of this issue. I am requesting immediate cancellation of the loan, full reimbursement of all payments made, and a formal response from Sunlight Financial acknowledging their wrongful disbursement and failure to act in good faith. Their continued inaction and false assurances demonstrate negligence and bad faith. Attached is proof that no work was performed, as well as communication records confirming the fraud. Please confirm receipt of this complaint and provide an update on the next steps.
Desired Outcome:
cancel loan and reimbursement of money paidBusiness Response

The agreement with Sunlight Financial for $50,153.97 was signed on October 24, 2023. A Top Tier representative, *********************, advised me that I could move my panels when I sell my house as I told him I would be moving in a few months. He never mentioned there would be a lien against my house. Now, I am being told there is a lien on my house, and I can't move my solar panels to my new home. Top Tier said I could move my panels if I had an address, and I provided an address, but now they said I can't move the panels. If this is the case, it will impact the sale of the home that is under contract to close on September 11th. I would never have purchased the solar panels if I knew there would be a lien on my home. I need this resolved so I can sell my house and move. I am trying to work with Top Tier and Sunlight Financial, but I am getting nowhere. I do not want these solar panels as this has been a complete disaster. The solar panels must be removed from my home by September 3rd to ensure my house will close by September 11th. If my closing does not happen because of these solar panels, I will have no choice but to file a lawsuit or bankruptcy.Business Response

Sunlight Financial is the finance company that ***************** used to finance my loan. My panels were installed in May of 2023. I started my first payment to Sunlight in June of 2023. *********** failed to get my panels on Permit To Operate status and went out of business recently in May or June of 2024. I emailed Sunlight regarding this and explained the situation. I was able to talk to a rep on the phone twice, the first time, I was assured someone would get back to me but never did. The second time I called and spoke to someone and I was told that my case has not yet been reviewed. I called a third time and this time I didnt get through to a rep so I emailed them recently to inquire of an update on my case and Im getting nothing. Why am I paying Sunlight still when the solar company went out of business. I feel like if I dont do anything, Ill be paying this loan for what? I was looking for a resolution from Sunlight but it looks like theyre avoiding me, while still taking my money.Business Response

My mortgage lender asked for clarification on the wording in my solar loan contract due to the wording being vague about the house being considered collateral for the loan. Their office refused multiple times to provide any written clarification and insisted that the only thing they could say was that it was in in the contract. My mortgage lender had multiple people review the contract with Sunlight Financial and repeatedly stated that the verbiage was unclear.Business Response
