On August 11, 2021, Missouri Attorney General, Eric Schmitt, announced his office filed suit against Magic Puppies and its owner, Andre Damrill, and shut down the facility for repeated violations of the Animal Care Facilities Act.
The Attorney General filed suit seeking emergency court relief against Damrill on July 20, 2021. They were able to obtain a temporary restraining order and remove the remaining living dogs.
Seven dogs were found deceased and several dogs were found with thin bodies. There was no access to clean or potable water. The facility was also not ventilated or air conditioned, weeds and tall grass were not trimmed and other violations.
Under the preliminary injunction, Damrill is prohibited from breeding, selling, or operating as a commercial breeder.
The case is pending.
