I AM THEN TOLD THAT I HAVE TO PAPER FILE BECAUSE OF THIS EVERYTIME I TRY TO PRINT THE FORMS RIGHT ON TOP OF FORMS IS PRINTED "CUSTOMER COPY, DO NOT FILE" EVERYTIME THAT I TRY TO PRINT I CALL THE 1880 NUMBER AND I AM TOLD BY A CUSTOMER SERVICE REP TO GO INTO AN ONSIGHT LOCATION HAVE IT PRINTED OUT FOR FREE. I CONTACTED THEM TODAY 04/03/24 ABOUT MY MISSING MONEY AND REFUNDED FOR THE MONEY THAT I SPENT ON "FREE SOFTWARE" BECAUSE 1ST OF ALL IT WAS NOT FREE, MOST IMPORTANTLY IT DIDN'T MATCH MY FILED PAPERS& BANK DEPOSIT. NOW IM SUPPOS TO SIT AROUND AND" WAIT FOR THEM TO CONTACT ME.I NEED TO ANSWER WHEN THEY CALL.THEY WILL ONLY TRY TO CONTACT ME ONCE". I DON'T DESERVE A REFUND FOR USING THEIR "FREE SOFTWARE", BECAUSE NOMATTER THE OUTCOME I STILL USED THE SOFTWARE. My card was stolen. Upon checking balance in account there were several fraudulent **** app transactions and I do not have a **** app account. I had over $2500 dollars taken from my account and reported it as soon as I was aware. This card does not allow you to lock it and I at the time did not use card often because I was looking to purchase a vehicle. I was never notified the status of the dispute but when I called I was told it had been denied and it was not even 10 days from reporting it. I am seeking help before I take legal action because this was a lot of money and I feel just because of the amount no thorough investigation was completed just denied!Business Response

Dear Better Business Bureau,
However, after extensive research, we respectfully decline the client’s request. We are denying the claim for the reasons that follow:

unauthorized CASH APP transactions: first person name is the clients relative 2) second person's name shares address with the client 3) third person's name shares
same address and co-owns vehicle with client.Card was claimed to be
lost-stolen. There are multiple valid card present transactions in between
including ATM withdrawals.
Client is enrolled in receiving

Paid $497 for H&R Block to file taxes for tax year 2021. I was notified in the fall of 2023 that the tax documents were not sent from H&R Block to the IRS. H&R Block recognized this and submitted the documents. I then received penalties for the taxes not being filed. I notified H&R Block on December 15th of 2023 and sent them the necessary documents to rectify and pay the past due penalties for not transmitting the tax documents. H&R Block did refund my tax prep fees but they have yet to reimburse me for the $1000+ dollars in penalties accrued due to failing to transmit my tax documents. The business has all necessary documents, I have confirmed again this afternoon before posting. In addition, communication from the management team has been lackluster. All updates have been me seeking information from them.Business Response

For many of years, H&R Block has offered to replay their clients if a mistake had happened or they were dissatisfied with their tax refund. At the time it was $100. I have not received that due to request with the local office manager and voicemails and messages going unanswered so now that we have the retention specialist involved, I’ve made several complaints regarding me having to amend on my own due to the mistakes made by the tax preparer so those fees also should be returned as you state return the $608 into that, but we have not talked about the tax preparation fees and guarantee !Initial Complaint

H & R Block filed my 2019 federal and state taxes incorrectly, and tried to amend them, but never called or followed up with the IRS to resolve my tax issue and their mistake. I sold my house that year and made under 40K from the sale. It was my primary residence and I should have been exempt from taxes as I lived there for most of my life and have never owned any other properties. Because of the filing error the IRS is demanding $209,000 from me and the CA Franchise Tax Board wants $49,000 from me. These figures are INCORRECT; how could I possible owe this much from the sale of my home in 2019 when I only netted less than 40K and should be exempt? I work at the Goodwill and have $300 in my bank account. I have spoken to my real estate agent at the time and he put me in touch with a CPA that said this could be fixed with a one-hour conversation with the IRS—well, H&R Block needs to make that call and fix this as I cannot get anyone to help me because it is now tax season and I am scared to death that the IRS and FTB will garnish my wages. H&R Block is the reason I am in this predicament and I implore H&R Block to please help me fix it. I cannot sleep over this and it is causing me serious mental and physical anguish. All pertinent documents are attached. Please have someone at H&R Block review this, contact me, and help me resolve this clerical error before it is too late. I have all documents but can't upload them all to this complaint as the file size is too large. This is ruining my life and I desperately need help to get this fixed. I do not owe $260,000 in taxes for selling my home I lived in by myself for most of my life. I was in foreclosure and had to sell—luckily, I made a little bit of money. H&R Block needs to clear this up with the IRS and the FTB. I am a senior citizen—this is not right. Thank you, Andrea Hamilton.Business Response

I opted for an in-person appointment in my taxes at the H&R Block office in Denver, because I had some questions about planning. The price listed on the website was "starting at $211." I sent in all my info to the tax preparer, and then went to the in person appointment. When it time to pay, she announced that the return would cost $693. I almost fell off my chair. That's an individual return with a schedule C, I've had other preparers do it, and it's never cost more than $300. There was no estimate sent to me or any indication that the fees would be higher than advertised on the website. When I called H&R Block customer service, they offered me a 20% off coupon, which still seemed like way too much. I did accept that offer, however, the discount was never applied to my credit card. I really think this is a horrible and unfair practice, and that H&R Block needs to be WAY more transparent with their pricing rather than trapping the client when the refund is already done. I request a partial refund of this outrageous fee. A final price of $300-350 seems reasonable.Business Response

3/17/2024 Appt was made to see an H&R Block rep ***** in the Palatka, FL office. She took the information needed, otherwise all documents were uploaded. She was to follow up online since I do not drive. My niece was with me and I ask ***** to follow up with my niece if there were any questions, otherwise will proceed online. ***** advised cost to be determined. I received an email that my taxes were ready for review and approval. On 3/17 I sent messages to address direct deposit and why nothing was showing if it was ready but also showed multiple returns. No response. After multiple calls and still showing it was being worked on I heard nothing. Next email was that my return was accepted by the IRS. I didn't review, approved anything, had no idea of the cost that shows H&R was charging me $304 and processed the return for a paper check to a street address which will be returned to the IRS because my residence is in a rural area and mail goes to a PO Box.
***** reached out over a week later to my niece as I ask her to and said someone handled this in her absence. She suggest a zoom appointment for them to correct the mailing with the IRS and would figure out how to refund the fees in full.
I am not certain the tax return is accurate, fees were never approved and overcharging had it been direct deposit and how long will this mailing of the check be resolved.Business Response

I dropped off my tax paperwork at that location on March 10, 2024. I had an appointment on that date but the tax preparer was out sick according to another employee in that office. So I left my paperwork with that employee. I was told that my preparer would work on my tax return in between her appointments. After several call, emails, etc with this offfice, the manager, etc, I was advised that they could not find my paperwork. The manager said he would look for it. He did not follow through on that. After several weeks I took things into my own hands, went back to the office, spoke to the woman that I left the paperwork with on the 10th of March. She said your paperwork was right where she had put it two weeks before. It was a very stressful few weeks because I didn't know who had my private information. And this office was not even trying to remedy this situation.Business Response

The business wants it closed. WHAT ABOUT THE CUSTOMER!!!
