If I could leave negative stars I would. This company is a complete JOKE! We booked through Safe Ship Moving and they outsourced to Cita Van Lines. As soon as I heard the company I looked up reviews and we should have listened to the reviews we read (the good ones are obviously bots or someone from the company trying to get positive reviews since they have ZERO from actual customers). We just had a newborn and figured this would be easier and stress free to move across the country. WRONG. The picked up our stuff July 13th and upon pick up we were informed it would take 5-10 business days to assign a driver, when we were previously told and our contract stated an estimated 2-14 days to get our stuff with of course delays, etc. Oh and our stuff would be sitting in a warehouse until a driver was assigned. We called multiple times and emailed Cita Van Lines to get an update because we had not heard anything, they did not answer ANY calls or return ANY calls/emails. Called again on the 10th day to see if a driver was assigned, no response. Safe Ship was reaching out for us and they were also having a difficult time to get a hold on them and even reached out to an owner and no response. We finally get an email the day before our stuff was getting delivered from Cita Van Lines, our stuff was getting delivered 8/5! The men who arrived did not even work for Cita Van Lines! While unpacking, we found broken items, damaged items, and ironically 3 matching suitcases were 'missing' which had more of our stuff in them. We filed a claim, they offered a disrespectful amount of $76.00, oh and in order to get that you need to have the paper you signed notarized. The money offered could not even cover anything they broke and lost.

Do yourself a favor and move yourself, I wish we did! Cita Van Lines is complete trash!

      THIS IS A MOVING SCAM
*NOTE* This review is significantly abbreviated and details omitted due to the character limit
      • Failed to provide the documents “Your Rights and Responsibilities When You Move” and “Ready to Move” required by federal regulation.
      • Failed to have the Bill of Lading signed 3 days prior to pickup per federal law. They had me sign day of without opportunity to review.
•Over-estimated my shipment by nearly double the volume and charged a $2300 "binding estimate fee."
      • Despite the broker's promise of 3-5 day delivery (which they knew about) they produced a contract with a 30 day delivery window without my knowledge. It took 27 days for delivery, causing significant additional personal cost.
      • Rarely answered their phone, lied repeatedly about the status of my shipment. From a driver has been assigned, to no driver has been assigned, from 7-10 days, to 7-14 days, to within 30 business days.
      • Omitted Federally required verbiage from their estimate form to notify clients of coverage options. The liability form was hidden amidst multiple others, and I was specifically told to sign on the line waiving full value protection without being told what I was signing or alerted to the full protection option.
      • Multiple boxes were caved in, crushed, or upside down. Loose items wrapped in moving blankets had no identification on them. I was charged for 2 TV boxes. My TVs were wrapped in a moving blanket with a piece of cardboard taped over the front, resulting in 1 TV being cracked in multiple places. Items were broken, my mattress was ripped, and I was missing an office chair. My most valued possession, a drawing done by my late father, was nearly lost until I noticed it was missing and found it on the truck.
      • Failed to accept all forms of payment listed on my contract, and refused delivery unless I used 1 of the forms they accepted.
This is not service, this is theft.

Truly I wish I could give zero stars instead of 1. To echo many of the other reviews left that I wish I would have read sooner - Safe Ship moving and Cita Van Lines are deceitful and should no longer be in business. I have filed complaints with the MO Attorney General in addition to seeking legal action. We were grossly overcharged and lied to about the service we would receive. The movers were disrespectful, sloppy and made our cross- state move an absolute nightmare. Do not hire these people or give them your money. It is a rip off.

0 Stars if I could. As a military family both SafeShip and CITA Van lines should not be allowed to move anything. SafeShip DOES NOT specialize in military moves, runaway. Complete dishonesty and a disgrace to any military family seeking assistance. Damaged and molded stuff. No value for price paid. Doubled price near pickup time. Didn't give me a measurement for what I actually moved.

Both these companies should not be allowed to have business.

Even if you have a deposit with them, cancel the move. It's worth it to just move yourslef or got with a real moving company. You will save more money and spritual heartache. BBB A- is laughable. They are unprofessional. The driver didn't even have a CDL.

How can this site, the Better Business Bureau, rate them an A? More like F-! Damaged furniture, the front door of the house gouged, constant requests for tips, driving off for a meal unannounced, and going through the awful Claimsnet procedure to be awarded $75, when it cost about that much to file the complaint. This is not the Better Business Bureau! No rating given.
Shame on America for hiring and allowing individuals who are only interested in robbing you.

Worst experience ever! I was quoted one price. They arrived and up-charged me by $1,400.00. When my items finally arrived (3 weeks later), all the boxes are damaged and/or have been opened & rifled through. They either lost or stole my 60" TV and the driver wouldn't give me anything to file a claim with. They seem to know when certain people call because they won't answer the phone. I have record of calling them at least 30 or more times in the last 3 weeks. Their foreman (when he finally answered 1 time), told me they had to fire the guy who picked my load up and that guy had not turned in his paperwork. Thank GOD I took pictures of everything. I had to text all that to him. While on the phone with him he claims "I found it". They claim they fired all their "staff" so nobody can answer the phone & they are using AI to do that. I've left 2 messages within the last 24 hours - no response. This company makes you sign that you received your items "before" they will unload them. This company and the broker "MetroHOP" will be reported to the AG's office today. I'm a senior citizen with a heart condition. All of my stuff is damaged and or missing. Sidenote- they also hire local help to unload. They send 1 driver with a huge tractor-trailer. They help themselves to my fridge and pulled their shirt off while unloading. Just an overall awful experience. I hope this deters anyone else from using this company

It was the worst Nightmare of My whole Life and the most traumatizing experience at every single step of the process from day 1 until delivery
I got a quote by Safe Ship Moving Company at the beginning for 6992 $ then 1 week before the pick up Safe ship asked to increase the quote by 3500$ after tons fo negotiation we agreed to increase it by 750$ only
On Day of Pick up the Driver Of Cita Van Lines came and asked for 3000$ more for Pick up and calling bulky items ( 2 coushes and a Drum set which was already in the Quote from the beginning ) and after 4 hrs 17 min on the phone with safe ship and Cita Van Lines we agreed on extra 500$ only then they took the stuff in a 27 inch truck including 40 Large boxes and 30 small boxes, then on the Delivery They asked me to pay 1500$ more because they will deliver my stuff in 18 wheeler and the street cannot handle it so after 5 phone calls each one between 30 min to an hour we agreed on only extra 1000$ . On the Day of the Delivery was a Disaster Show, Very caiotic , my bed was broken costing 1500$ , The Drum set which I paid extra for is broken, and missing parts that costing 1000$, 3 coffee tables are damaged 500$, The bottom of Both Coushes are damaged, The delivery team Driver Jay and his people was very caiotic and ruined the walls of the house, and he refused to install the tables and said will refund me 100$ by Zelle to get someone else to do it and did not zelle me anything. On opening the boxes we found alot of Broken very Expensive Glass items was very well wrapped in Bubble wrapp and Written fragile on the Cartoon Boxes, Broken Frames, Missing 2 expensive mirrors and 7 small Heavy Boxes having very Expensive Medical and financial books worth 2000$.

      Move

We were very disappointed with Safe Ship Moving and Cita Van lines. We were given an initial cost and then the Friday before the cost was increased by $5000! At that time, we were told that they were coming the following Tuesday to pack and to move it on a Wednesday. So we spent four frantic days making 30 trips back-and-forth on the 6 mile route to bring the costs down. Then we were told on Monday night at 9:30 that the movers were coming on Wednesday to pack and move on the same day. Wednesday morning we got a call saying they were coming anywhere from noon to four. Two guys showed up at 4:10 to pack the house and get things moved to our new place, which was 6 miles away. Four more showed up about three hours later. We were told there was $150 charge for stairs, which we didn't expect. BTW, we were told that this was a big move. It was a total of about 3000 square feet and a lot was already moved. They ran out of their paper and had to use our bubble wrap, and when that ran out, we had to pack the rest of the glasses, about 20 of them. The boxes were subpar, and even though I had everything labeled where it was supposed to go, nothing was labeled once it was wrapped. When they got here they kept asking, "Where does this go, where does this go," when we had no idea because it was wrapped. Very frustrating and disappointing. A few broken wine glasses and a dent in our newly painted wall later, the movers, who were nice guys by the way, were finished by 2:15 in the morning! Totally unacceptable. This information, btw, will be going on your website, Google, yelp, Angie's list, Better Business Bureau, and anything else we can think of. So that was our nightmare of a move.

If you want a company that is quick to take your money but slow to communicate, update, answer their phones, or resolve issues, then this is the company to do it.
They don’t cover details, but are always quick to lay out options that cost you more money. Their movers are hit or miss. The customer service will argue semantics but, again, will only settle on whatever would cost YOU more money. If you have a small move, the owner will be pissy that you’re costing him money or only breaking even. They can’t communicate to save their lives and will blame other people long before taking accountability. They give updates after 10pm rather than during business hours, no matter how many times you call for an update beforehand.
All in all, horrible company with a money-hungry owner that makes an already stressful event (moving) into a financial, contractual nightmare. Genuinely hope they go out of business.
