I had made a payment of $250 to Mohela on 8/25 to process on 8/29. I have received a payment confirmation (attached) but they have not credited my account, I have tried numerous times to contact them (phone, email, fax) and have been unsuccessful with a response and I can not get a live person. I feel this is their way to steal interest payments from the public as It should have been posted on 8/29 but instead it is accruing interest on the balance befor the payment made. I need a live person to speak with and I need my payment to be posted as of the day I scheduled it to.Business Response

The student loan carrier mentioned above has not removed the delequient payments from my credit history and they were brought up to date over 4 moths ago. I have tried to contact them via telephone but it keeps sending me in circles. I never get anyone on the phone that I can speak with on this matter. I have placed disputes in Credit Karma to assist with this months ago and I am still unable to get anywhere with this issue. It is very frusterating when your trying to get a resolution as payment were brought up current but there is no chance at being able to speak with someone within the institution. Mohela was contacted several times over a nearly year period to initiate an automatic student loan re payment. They assured us that auto pay was all set and ******* times after calling them they assured us that the account was up to date and payment would be processed. Months later they damaged my credit with the credit reporting companies by indicating a 90 day late payment history. When called, they indicated that it was not possible to initiate an auto pay on the account because I had one set up for my other daughter's account already and were surprised that another agent accepted the auto pay. After I disputed with the credit reporting companies, Mohela recently sent an email indicating that the auto pay was initiated but failed to correct the 90 day late payment to the credit reporting companies. I am requesting that Mohela remove the 90 Day late payment history. They have provided false information on almost every phone conversation that we have had with multiple agents. I am willing to pay and close the account once the 90 day late payment that they reported to the credit reporting companies is removed. My credit report shows the account current but it still shows the 90 day late payment which have severely damaged my credit. Please remove.Business Response

I am writing to request your assistance regarding a concerning issue with my Mohela student loan account, where thousands of dollars of interest appear to have been improperly added prior to the official August 1, 2025 interest resumption date.When I graduated medical school in May 2020, I consolidated my federal student loans. The loans were transferred to Mohela with an initial balance of $366,744. Despite the fact that federally held student loans were placed into 0% interest administrative forbearance beginning March 13, 2020 a policy later extended through September 30, 2020 and ultimately lasting until September 1, 2023 my Mohela account reflects $4,560 in accrued interest added before August 1, ******* clarify my timeline:March 13, 2020 August 31, 2023: Federal loans carried 0% interest under administrative forbearance.May 2020: Mohela received my consolidated loan.September 1, 2023: Interest resumed; I entered the SAVE plan and made eight payments of $566.22 (October 2023 May 2024), totaling $4,530.Before August 1, 2025: Mohela applied $4,560 in unpaid interest, though no interest should have accrued prior to this date under the terms of the COVID-related suspension and subsequent SAVE plan forbearance.I have spoken with multiple Mohela representatives, including advanced account specialists, but none have been able to provide a clear explanation of when or why this interest was added.Given these circumstances, I respectfully request your assistance in investigating and resolving this discrepancy. I have made multiple attempts to inquire about interest accrued on my student loan account over the course of two months. No one from Mohela is able to provide me any evidence of when interest was accrued on my account. This is my legal right to view and the inability to provide this in a timely fashion is grossly negligent of any financial institution. I look forward towards being provided any and all records and statements of interest accrued otherwise I will assume that Mohela does not have this documentation and thus reflects a clear breach of contract warranting litigation.

I am filing a complaint against MOHELA for failing to notify me about my federal student loans and mishandling their repayment.I graduated in 2020, and since then my loans were in forbearance. At no point was I notified that MOHELA had taken over my loans or that I had any payment obligations. I had no knowledge of the loans or their status. I only recently discovered the loans existed and that I owed payments after MOHELA reported them as being in default, which negatively impacted my credit score. I am still awaiting my refund from Mohela re overpayment for my student loans. I received PSLF in January 2024 but continued to make payments until September 2024 because I was not informed of my forgiveness until November 2024, so I am due a refund. The refund alert has been on my Mohela account since November 2024. After Mohela is done processing my account, it is supposed to be sent to EdFinancial, then the ******************* Mohela claims they sent my paperwork over to the treasurer and not EdFinancial. Yet when I contact the treasurer's office, they have no paperwork re my Mohela account. ********************** has been telling me that I should receive the refund within 90 business days but I have been told that since February 2025. I am filing a formal complaint regarding my experience with the Missouri Higher Education Loan Authority (MOHELA) as a borrower of federal student loans. My experience has been overwhelmingly negative for the following reasons:Substandard Customer Support Over the past two years, changes to student loan management have left borrowers like me frustrated. MOHELAs customer support has been largely unhelpful. Automated menus often direct me to the wrong options, and waiting for a live representative can take hours. Even when I finally speak to someone, they often cannot resolve my issues, forcing me to wait again for further assistance.Mismanagement of IDR and PSLF Applications I have been attempting to utilize the ************** Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program as a physician. However, my current repayment plan, SAVE (Saving on A Valuable Education), is no longer eligible for PSLF. Since June 2024, I have tried multiple times to change my repayment plan, but many applications were not processed, and some were even canceled. Additionally, my loans continue to accrue interest, and Ive been unable to make payments for much of the time MOHELA has serviced my loans, worsening my debt.Delays and Inconsistent Messaging In May 2025, I submitted an application to switch to an Income-Based Repayment (IBR) plan, which is PSLF-eligible. This process, which should take one month, has been delayed and was not processed within the expected 90 days. A previous *** application submitted in November 2024 went unprocessed for over six months. When I re-applied in May 2025, I was told my earlier application was canceled, and I had to go back to the end of the line. I have scheduled two payments for $200 each, one on 9/2/25 and the second on 9/3/25. Neither of them have been processed nor show pending on my account. Unfortunately, every time I message Mohela directly it takes months for a response. Im trying to pay down the debt and if the payments are not going to go through, I will remake the payments but I want them backdated. Pictures are included with the confirmation numbers. This student loan servicer has the worst customer service. They told me hang tight last year when the government put my loans into auto forbearance due to the SAVE act. Then charged me interest and I have been trying since February to recertify my IDR and its still is processing after multiple attempts and now charged me more interest when they cant even seem to give me a payment plan.Business Response
