I was contacted by Nine9 as a prospect of becoming an extra in a movie, and their service bombards your texts every single day with questions, even after you've answered. The service is obviously AI, yet they deny using AI. This business is obviously just fishing for info from people, given they claim their service is free until you get a meeting. Nine9 claims to be a talent company, but does not claim to be a talent agency, yet also claims they don't connect talent to other agencies, according to the confused AI that I messaged with.Business Response

I was invited to a zoom call thinking I was doing a virtual casting call. The host started the meeting by saying all the alleged services they provide at no cost. At the end of the 1.5 hours presentation, a link was sent for folks to submit a large payment to join their agency. Any questions I had regarding the money was dismissed. When I said I needed to talk about this with my family, the host snapped at me and said "I would never let anyone else dictate my life". The host used common tactics to pressure people to drop $500 on services that were not guaranteed. The host would not direct me to a single review or website (other than their own which didn't seem to be updated since 2023) that didn't call this place a scam and waste of money. Unfortunately others in my town fell this scam, and shared that none of the alleged services and casting calls were provided after paying. They paid the price and was quickly ghosted. You should NEVER pay an agency to bring gigs to you. Especially if they can't prove that they were able to successfully book on the past. This "non-agency" is exactly that - NOT a talent agency. Just a scam with disrespectful and pushy salesmen.Business Response

Thank you for taking the time to provide a review of your recent experience with us attending a virtual open call. My apologies the service you received was beyond exceptional. Regarding our services, our enrollment fee is $99 not $500 and includes both access to casting services as well as training and workshops. We work with talent, new and familiar with the industry, and aim to provide services to all skill/experience levels. We are also not an agency as noted and listed on the BBB website as well as in the virtual call you attended. While I cannot comment on the friend you mentioned as I do not have their information, I do know that our services speak for themselves and would love to give you the opportunity to try them out yourself should you be interested. Please reach out to me directly at ********************************* to give the services a chance yourself and formulate your own opinion. Thank you.Initial Complaint

I found about about Nine9 through a ******** ad about 2 months ago. The company posted an ad for a Modeling Casting Call (Talent Audition).A prompt from the as asked for basic info (name, phone number, email, and what talents I have). I was then contacted through email confirming an invitation to a Zoom Call where they explained what the company offers as far as services for artists and talent. They explained that there would be other auditions for highly known movies such as Scary Movie 6, Outer Banks, Devil Wears Prada, and *** *****. However, they explained that in order to be casted for these auditions we would have to pay an entry fee of $100 to nine9 before the end of the zoom call otherwise we would lose our spots and not be considered going forward.I told them that I could not yet afford to pay $100 especially since they did not explain that there would be a payment fee included in services in the ad I initially saw. They also waited until the end of the call to ask for the money which was a waste of time. They said I could pay the $100 fee when I felt comfortable and I said okay and that to my knowledge was supposed to be the end of my communication with this company, however, everyday for the last 2 weeks, they have been sending me text messages that I did not opt in for. The most recent message was as follows: Are you free to do a Virtual Open Call tomorrow at either 11am, 1pm or 5pm ET? Scary Movie 6, Outer Banks and Devil Wears Prada 2 are casting so let me know. The messages are very ANNOYING and WONT STOP. I have asked to be taken off the text list and they instead begin texting from a new number. I am extremely frustrated with the way they are trying to SCAM people who are genuinely trying to build their career! I am so tired of seeing this business not being taken down by the BBB, and I demand that something be done about this ASAP!!!!! This is UNACCEPTABLE!!Business Response

Nine9 posted on ******** for what seemed to be a chance to be a walkon in a movie. After a half hour of scamming us to sign up with their talent agency I just hung up. This was a scam to get you to pay for their services! I lost nothing but time and now being ****** I was scammed. Others should know about this company and ******** should ban their advertising.Business Response

[You must provide details of why you are not satisfied with this resolution. Please type details here:] I feel like their response was just another pitch to use their services. It would have been better if they admitted that they sucked me into hearing a sales pitch rather than a simple chance to be a walkon in a movie. I NEVER would have been interested in what they were actually soliciting had I known what it was - and a waste of my time!! I DO have better things to do with my time.

This company (Nine9) is completely fraudulent in nature, do not interact with them, do not pay them.I sent them $99 on June 27, ****************************************************************** acting. I have emailed them several times regarding the fraudulent nature of their company and to get a full refund from them that I am legally entitled to. They only tried to deny my claim to my money through grammatical misdirection, policy reference meant to shield their fraudulent tactics, and stringing me along saying I had to get in contact with other people through different emails. This issue was not resolved through their own efforts as I have now had to contact the claims department of my bank and to get the money I am legally owed. Keep in mind I have also emailed them to remove any and all information from their systems and to not charge me any recurring payments, I would not have trusted them to not use my data maliciously and to keep charging me after the fact.Again, this is a fraudulent company, they will try to reel you in with hollow promises that will never be followed through on and say that they don't do things the way that everyone else does them to try and entice you.Business Response

On July 18, 2025, I responded to a casting call post on social media for *** ***** extras. I live in ************, ********, where the show is confirmed to be filmingwe received letters from the production team, and its been widely ***orted by local news. After signing up, I received a text inviting me to an open casting call by Nine9. During the call, it became clear this was a sales pitch, not a real casting. The ***resentative dropped big production names (including *** *****) and told me to sign up on their websiterequiring a $99 fee and monthly charges just to access listings. When I asked directly if they were affiliated with *** *****, they refused to confirm and instead said Id see the opportunity after logging in. I mentioned that local media has confirmed Nine9 is not affiliated, and the *** changed direction, saying they were casting for many other roles. This is a clear bait-and-switch scam. They use real eventslike the actual *** ***** filming in Blue Springsto gain trust, then push a paid membership under false pretenses. They are very calculated in their wording, avoiding anything concrete in writing while heavily implying legitimacy during calls.I have one screenshot from the message and can provide links to news ***orts showing Nine9 is not affiliated. I urge the BBB to investigate. This company has been ***orted for years, and its time action is taken to stop their deceptive practices.Business Response

Thank you for taking the time to attend the virtual call with us. Our calls are designed to be informative and provide talent a transparent look at what we offer aspiring models and actors through our services. Our services include submission to castings talent fit for, as well as training courses taught by industry professionals. We understand that talent might be applying for a specific casting call/project and are only looking to be in one production, and our services might not be best for them. The television show *** ***** will be filming in the *****************, and this organization is sending out text messages offering individuals opportunities to audition for roles for the show, as well as opportunities to audition for various roles in the next edition of "The Hunger Games." The auditions are offered as a group, and they are via Zoom. No more information is given before the event. The only way I happened to find out any information was that I googled the company and found out that they are and have been a complete scam to many individuals by asking them for money for an "opportunity" for a "potential" chance to interview, and there is no guarantee to audition for the actual original promised bait and switch in the first place. This is completely wrong and unjust, and this organization should be shut down.Business Response

Thank you for your feedback. Nine9 has been in business 20+ years and is accredited with the BBB, whom does not offer accreditation to businesses that are not legitimate. The virtual open calls we have are designed to provide talent with information about all of our services, not specifically one casting. This way talent can get a clear understanding of what we offer and what is included in their purchase, and decide if the services are right for them. There is never a guarantee to audition as the decision to request you for an audition or book is the casting directors discretion. Our services provide you with casting opportunities and training courses, which is all thoroughly explained verbally during the virtual call talent attend and in written form on the sign up sheet. Per your request your application has been removed and you will not be contacted any further. We wish you the best in your entertainment endeavors.Initial Complaint

Nine9 ************** advertises Open Casting Call does not however disclose the fact there will be a 90 dollar processing fee followed by *********************************************************************************************** the fact they are charging said fees. I am upset they did not disclose in any of their ADS, text messages or emails that such a fee would be due at the end of their near hour long open casting callI dont believe this business is necessarily a scam But i do not think it is a good business practice to not disclose there will be money due before any actually open casting callI didnt waste any money but did lose some valuable time.Business Response

No offer to stop their predatory business tactics was made.Offering open casting calls without the mention of a fee, then having you sit through an hour long presentation to hype you up and make you feel special and that you are only here because you fit the mold
To then have the rug pulled out from under you, that Oh wait CREAM! Cash rules everything around me!

I was contacted by a company identifying itself as *****, claiming they were seeking talent to fill roles. Based on this representation, I agreed to participate in a Zoom meeting under the impression that it would involve legitimate casting opportunities.Instead, the call lasted approximately 50 minutes and turned out to be a high-pressure sales presentation. Participants were ultimately told that in order to be considered for auditions or casting opportunities, they would need to pay a substantial fee information that was never disclosed upfront. This creates a deceptive and misleading experience, designed to gain trust and extract payment under false ************ addition, during the process, the company collected personal information from me, including Name, address, email, and number . I was not made fully aware of how this information would be used or stored, nor did I consent to it being shared with third parties. This adds to my concern regarding the companys integrity and data privacy practices.I believe these actions are not only unethical, but may also violate consumer protection laws and fair advertising standards.Business Response

Thank you for reaching out. The virtual open call that talent are invited to attend is an informative call that goes over not only castings but our services in their entirety. This way there is full transparency on what we offer for interested talent, should they decide to move forward with our services. I apologize that you feel the call was deceptive or misleading as that is not our intention for interested talent.
Regarding personal information, we only provide contact information to clients or castings directors when you are requested or being considered for a project and only after confirming directly with the talent in question for each instance. Your application has been completely removed from our database, so there is no way for us to reach out to you further for our services. Again I apologize that the experience was not what you were looking for. We wish you the best.
