This is such a scam. We used their services for almost 4 years due to it being the only option in our rural area. First, I discovered that I was paying 2x as much as new customers signing up for the same services and had been for over a year. Second, once we cancelled with them, part of the contract is that the equipment be returned within 30 days and they are to send the shipping materials. No shipping materials were received, a call placed to customer service requesting the packing material. Still none were received. We set the stuff aside. A year later they tried to turn us into collections for the >$300 worth of equipment. They never wanted the equipment back. They wanted by $300. I will pay a lawyer thousands just to be sure they never see another dime of my money.

I informed Hughesnet that I would be moving to a New location, I gave them a Precise Day and Date not to charge My account unless *********** was installed at My New location. The New location was in a location that Hughesnet serviced. I provided the New location information and Scheduled the installation. The technician arrived only to tell me that He couldn't install the Dish on The Patio, The property doesn't allow on the ground installation of dishes. I OFFERED TO RETURN THE EQUIPMENT TO THE TECHNICIAN, HE REFUSED TO ACCEPT IT. I WAS TOLD THAT HE WAS MAKING A NOTE FOR ME TO RECEIVE A RETURN BOX AND LABEL. HUGHESNET SENT THE BOX TO MY OLD ADDRESS I FOUND THAT OUT BY CALLING ABOUT THE BOX. I STILL HAVEN'T RECEIVED IT ONE CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE THREATENED ME WITH THE $300 EQUIPMENT FEE. WHY WOULD THEY SEND THE BOX TO THE OLD ADDRESS AFTER THEY SCHEDULED THE TECHNICIAN TO THE NEW ADDRESS. THE REPRESENTATIVE TRY TO GIVE ME THE ADDRESS TO WHERE I SHOULD MAIL THE EQUIPMENT TO.,WITH ME PROVIDING THE BOX AND SHIPPING COST. NEXT STEP WILL BE THE COURTHOUSE! WRONG FORMER CUSTOMER! LET ALONE THEY KEPT TRYING TO KEEP ME FROM CANCELING. TRIPLE ZERO STARS ??

Was told they are sending a box to return WiFi router and something on the satellite dish. Was also told have 45 days to do so and there would be no charge. Only for my fiance to check his bank today and find out they took $320 (roughly). Called and was told basically tough luck at first. Now claiming they will refund but based off of reviews we wont get our hopes up. Would not recommend as this a scam internet and not worth the almost $100/month fee. **** constantly went out and worked 30% of the time.

I have had Hughesnet since 2022 and am attempting to cancel my Satellite Internet account. I sent an email through the Corporate website a few days ago and have never received a response from them. Today, I tried to chat with *** in Chat ****** to cancel and they told me that they could only talk to me over the phone? WHY? They have 3 options for contact on their website and so far 2 of them have ended in me getting NO resolution. I have no ability to remove my Card Information from their automatic billing. I am also under NO CONTRACT! How do I get this company to CANCEL MY ACCOUNT??

Hughesnet is terrible. I have two accounts with them. One at my house and the house next door. We have been with them for over 2 years. Last Nov. 2024, I upgraded my internet in my house but the other house was NOT upgraded. The person that put the equipment in, listed the address of the other house as being upgraded. I have dealt with this since last Nov with trying to get this straight. I have to call every month to get them to straighten it out with the billing. In May, we cancel the service for the other house, which would be over 12 month lease. We return the equipment when the boxes was submitted to us. Now they say we owe due to canceling the lease to early. His was not upgraded in Nov and should have already met the 12month agreement. Mine will go through Nov of this year before I have met my agreement. Now they say we owe $331.99 for canceling early for the other house. You cannot talk to them, they do not listen to what you are telling them. They just repeat that you owe $331.99 for early cancellation. I will cancel at the end of my agreement and be thru completely with them. This is ridiculous.

Not sure where to start here, but "Hughesnet" over the last year continues to send me harassing emails about 6 times a week that read "FINAL NOTICE - Your account will cancel soon if payment is not received Jul 11 at 9:05 AM UAT3: Hughesnet *************

Worst Internet, I ever had I canceled them and they charged me $310 for canceling. Why should I pay that if the service was crappy? and Im on Social Security disability. I have other bills to pay and they took 310 out thats gonna really be short paying my bills.

Service was terrible came time to renew contract and I told them not to renew that I would find another carrier when it ran out. Turns out they signed me for a new contract anyway and when I would call customer service would just repeatedly hang up on me now they are turning charges into collections. Has been a horrible experience from beginning to end.

I was a hughes net customer since 2/2023 knowing there was a 2 year contract. It was nice in the beginning but i started to notice the internet slowing doen. I've called plenty of times about slow internet because i work from home and became not as effective. 11/2023 I moved to a new address. They told me I wouldn't be charged and everything was good to go. I called about the speed a few more times but nothing really helped. 9/2024 I called to cancel my plan, void the contract and go with another company but Hughes net offered to match other company's price and internet speed if I stay. I tried to give the internet time to adjust. I called a few times but here we are 7/2025 and I have had enough. I called to cancel my plan. I explained the reasoning then they told me I'd have to pay $280 for early termination fees. I told them my contract was over at the beginning of 2025. They then informed me that the 2 year contract started over when I moved then again when they offered to change my plan. I explained that I was not informed of those contract extensions and that my app said my commitment date was 7/02/2025. I was under the impression that I've completed my 2 year commitment and is now paying on a monthly basis. While I was on the phone with the operator my commitment date changed to 9/2026, the date they matched the other company's plan. I was told the 2 year commitment started over because they added a promotion to one of their existing plans. No one explained any of that to me on any of the calls previous to today. 7/2/2025. I believe they're trying to get money out of me anyway they can due to me leaving.

No stars. I am writing a review for my elderly mother, who is supposed to have internet/phone services through HughesNet in ****. My step-father was admitted to a ** at the start of June, leaving my 85-year-old mother alone in rural ****. I am her daughter, living in **, and have wanted to call her every 2-3 days to check on her. Her phone does not receive incoming calls. It does not ring and my brother has verified it is hooked up right and the ringer was on. I made calls to HughesNet "customer service" (and I use the term loosely) 6 times in June, 6/2, 6/4, 6/9, 6/10, 6/18 and 6/27. I have all the names of the employees I have spoken with, I was on hold several times for 45 minutes to an hour and nothing has been fixed. I cannot call my mother and she is paying for a service she is not getting!!! Not until the last call did they offer to send a technician out "free of charge", now we are just going to go with a new company. Absolutely the worst customer service I have ever experienced in my 60+ years on earth. They should not be in business.
