In Febuary I had my floors measured for installation for both my main floor and basement flooring. In the begining of April I had the flooring installed on the main floor. On the day of installation I was told if the floor was to go in a sub-floor was be installed. I said that was fine however I was not given a price at that time to what it would be. End the time of the job I paid in full. Fast forward to July when the floor installation for the basement happens. My floor was back-ordered which caused the huge delay, which I had no issue with. AGAIN, the installers arrive and tell me something has to be done to the floor in order to have the floor installed. I had someone come out to measure look at take a look at the floor and now twice something else has to be done in order for installation. Again, I agree because it is the day of install and I have waited six months for this floor to come in. Again, no one mentions what this will cost. After the 2nd floor goes in is when I get both invoices which total over $4000. Had a received the high installation additional cost prior to the 2nd install I WOULD HAVE NEVER AGREED to do the 2nd. How do you wait 6 months to give someone a serveral thousand dollar invoice? Those two invoices totalled over $4000. How are going to give someone a price for installation, then come back to them and tell them it is really going to be even more for install and then sit on a high dollar invoice until it is all complete so they can take no action. This is not the customer service I should have received for $15,000 in business, which is now closer to $20,000Business Response

It is a common and valid concern for homeowners that unexpected subfloor issues can significantly increase the cost and timeline of a flooring installation project. Water damage, uneven surfaces, and structural problems are impossible to assess until the old flooring is removed. Next day Floors explains this to our customers. It was written on the contract that she signed, "may need plywood not included".
Ms. ********** purchased carpet and LVP on March 3, 2025, and the contract was split into two different installation dates.
The first installation was scheduled and completed on April ******, Sunroom LVP. When the existing floor was removed from the "Sunroom" water damaged was discovered which caused the subfloor (Plywood) to be replaced in order to install the new flooring properly. Water leaks from appliances, pipes, or general flooding can seep beneath the finished floor and damage the subfloor or floor joists.
Ms. ********** was called and informed of this and agreed to have the subfloor replaced for an additional $2477.00.The basement installation was scheduled and completed on July 15, 2025. At the time of installation, it was found that the basement floor was unlevel. For new flooring to be installed correctly and to avoid future problems like buckling or cracking, the subfloor must be flat and level. Ms. ********** was called and informed with the additional cost of $1641.00 cost and the customer agreed to have the leveling done.
While it is never easy to hear that more money is needed to complete a job, both issues required the additional work be completed so the new flooring could be installed properly.

I am rejecting this response because: I was not shown the invoice from the contractor EVER. I also was not made aware of EITHER of the invoices until post both floors were finished. I was shown anything or told of any amount until after the basement floor was completed.
Sincerely,

I was NOT notified of the price of the subfloor until July 15th when both floors where done. The total was slit into two payments because the upstairs was finished first, which is when I should have recieved the invoice the subfloor. The statement that I was told about the $2477 is flat out NOT true. As you can see the orginal invoice I received, which is the first time this amount was even discussed, was for $3007. Next Day Floors took that off only when I complained and they could not come up with what "misc materials" was. How could they have told me the price was $2477 if they orginally planned on charging me $3007.97. Again, I was not made aware of the amounts until both floors where completed. The floor in the "sunroom" was not taken up due to water damage either, another statement that was not true. They did took it up to make it level with the carpet. The salesman called me last week because he was told of the complaint and even he will tell you that I was not made aware of either amount until both floors were done. Not once were amounts talked about until I received the invoices in July.Customer Answer

On July 14th, **** from Next Day Floors in ********* came to my house about installing carpets. He wrote a ticket and I accepted and placed a $300 deposit. He called a few days later saying that the carpet was in and asking when they could come for install. Since then I have called and emailed at least ten times to his cell phone the store and not been able to get ahold of anyone. I've sent him an email requesting a refund on my deposit. I just had my floor installed and approved the final price. Now I see that next day floors have added over 700 to the final approved price. When I've tried to reach them in the past it's been very difficult and frustrating. They need to adjust the bill, which I financed with **************** to the price we agreed upon.Customer Answer

The day of installation of Ms. ******* floors, the independent subcontractor (installer) contacted Next Day Floors Sales **** who was Ms. ******* salesperson and informed the sales *** that Ms. ******* floor was out of level and the flooring could not be installed without the subfloor being ***aired to accept the new floor. If the subfloor was not ***aired NDF could not move forward with the installation, the new floor would fail over existing conditions. This was explained to Ms. ***** via phone conversation and followed with a text showing the additional cost, which Ms. ***** agreed to. Please see attachments. No refund is due.Business Response

On March 12, 2024, my wife and I requested a consultation with Next Day Floors (Dundalk location) to assess and discuss the next steps in installing a prefabricated floor with baseboard in my and my wife's basement. The representative (named - Bob) quoted the installation for $4,398.00, with a $2,000.00 deposit. At this time, we gave the representative the deposit, and he said another would contact us to schedule the installation.
It has now been almost two months, and we have not had any resolve the establishment - after several calls to get a status update on the installation and simply requesting a refund, we have not had any success. The only consolation we offered was a discount on the remaining balance without a refund.
I have attached a copy of my receipt to support my request. We firmly believe I am entitled to a refund in this situation. I would like to request a full refund of $2,000.00. We hope we can resolve this matter amicably. I would appreciate it if you could assist us in processing the refund as soon as possible. Please let me know if you require any further information from my end.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to hearing from you soon and receiving a prompt resolution.Business Response

I have reviewed and discussed complaint ID: ******** with the Vice President of Carpet Fair, Inc. d/b/a Next Day Floors and we have decided to refund Mr. ****** the entire amount of the deposit, in the amount of $2000.00. Unfortunately, there was an unforeseen shipping delay with the materials which caused Mr. ******'s flooring to not be installed within a suitable timeframe. For this, he has our apologies and hopefully Mr. ****** will consider us for his future flooring needs.
