    I was urged to complete all of the requested details for an application for a reverse mortgage. On February 6, 2024 I signed the final papers with the notary who said that the papers would be filed that night. My agent at South River mortgage was Austin ********* who assured me that the reverse mortgage would be funded within 4 to 5 business days. It’s now February 14 Valentine’s Day and I have not received any funds.

    I did my reverse mortgage with South River, and initially everything went well. A little over a year later, January of 2024, we decided to do a refinance to get more money. This was a nightmare. My loan officer, Matthew Consoli ,didn’t seem to know what he was doing and kept giving us incorrect and misleading information. I had numerous conversations with him, but nothing went as he said it would. We finally closed on February 29th. We received much less than we expected, and were told that we would receive an additional payment of about $2000 that was due to a duplicate payment of taxes. When we didn’t receive the check within the specified time frame, we contacted Matthew . He continued to assure us that we would receive it, but told us that we would have to make some phone calls. When I said that I felt that it was his job to clear this up, he informed us that it wasn’t, and that he didn’t have the time to deal with it. After spending more than three hours on the phone trying to figure out what was going on, I finally called South River to speak with Matthew’s manager. I explained the entire situation with him, and he assured me that he would get to the bottom of the issue. He called us back the next day only to inform us that there was no additional money as the overpayment was never made ,as Matthew claimed. I discussed Matthew’s performance with Griffin, his manager, who assured us that he would be addressing this with Matthew. I also requested that Matthew no longer service our loan. This was not the only problem we had, but it was one of the biggest ones. If I had it to do over again, I would choose a different lender.
