On 7/12/22 I contacted Ready To Start Auto Parts searching for a replacement engine. I was informed they had one in stock with 65k miles for a price of $1650. When I asked how I could confirm the mileage the salesman said he would go out and get the *** number from the car, he assured me all of the parts come from vehicles purchased at auctions and many of the parts were already sold from this specific vehicle. He then provided me with the *** number of the engine I would be purchasing via text and told me I could do a carfax report to confirm. I agreed to purchase the engine at that point because it was the best deal I found on a low mileage engine and I was without a vehicle. I asked if I could get a discount on the shipping if I was to pick it up and he said no free shipping is part of the deal but I could pick it up at their location in Mass. I waited close to 1 month to receive the engine only to find out it shipped from a different company located in *********. When the engine arrived it was seized and would only turn over part way then lock up. The *** number didnt match what I purchased. The report I ran on the original number provided showed a vehicle with 65k miles and the one I received was recorded at 95k miles 7 years prior. I contacted the company at that point requesting a full refund. They requested I send them a video and pictures of the engine along with a detailed service report from a garage before they would consider sending a replacement engine. The point is what they sent me was not what I was told I was purchasing and they were focused on having me prove the engine was defective rather than accepting being caught in the bait and switch scam. I requested they send me the engine with the correct numbers I purchased to make it right or send a carrier to pick the junk engine and refund my money. What I received is most likely a ********* flood car engine. 2 months without my car and out $1650 on a piece of scrap metal and a waste of my time

Hi *************, we apologise for the bad engine you ended up receiving due to a shipment confusion. We at Ready To Start Auto Parts have our warranty policies in place to help our customers with fair resolutions. When you called us complaining about the engine you received, we acknowledged and did our check asking you for necessary service documents/pictures/videos. And we helped you with a resolution of refund which would be processed once the faulty merchandise was returned back to us. However, you chose not to do so and involved your financial institution by filing a dispute due to which we have no control over the payment to process a refund. Nevertheless, we'd like to offer you a refund, provided you have our merchandise reach back to us. Please reach out to our customer service team on ************* or ***************************** and we'll be happy to help you further.

Better Business Bureau:I have reviewed the response submitted by the business and have determined that the response does not satisfy or resolve my issues and/or concerns in reference to complaint # ********. Please add your rejection comments below; if you do not provide any details, your complaint will be closed as Answered.

The engine is defective yes but also not what I authorized Ready to Start to charge my card for.  The numbers don't match and in the case of consumer fraud a warranty is irrelevant.  I was sold an item that the company could not provide.  I found out through a Bumper report he car containing the engine promised was for sale at a car dealer in Washington state.  The engine I received came from pick apart yard in Tennessee.  After the company received my complaint from the BBB they reached out and offered me $300.  I payed $1650 and expect all of it refunded. I do not intend to pay freight charges to return the engine, I expect the company to arrange a freight pick up for the return.  My next complaint will be with the ************* attorney generals office
