Kohler toilet was leaking water from tank into bowl. Roto Rooter Plumbing and Drain Service, main location *************, **, made initial repair on 10/31/2022. On this visit, I told the plumber I observed it was both the fill and flush valves and thought the tank needed compatible, genuine Kohler parts for repair. He dismissed my concerns and request and asserted that a universal fill valve part is all that was necessary. I was charged and paid $279.00. The tank continued to leak water into bowl. The same plumber made a second visit to determine the problem and agreed tank needed a new flush valve. I insisted on a compatible Kohler parts and he said they had a Kohler representative and he would order the part. He made a third visit on 11/15/2022 and installed flush valve however it wasn'***************** and looked cheap. I was charged and paid $219.94. Again water leaked from tank to bowl. Same plumber made a 4th visit on 11/23/2022 to install a different, more flexible lid on flush valve and again toilet continued to leak water into bowl. I wasn't charged for this visit.The plumber's son made final visit was on 12/3/2022 and confirmed no cracks or problems with tank or seals and had to be the parts. He said he would check with supplier to see if parts are available and get back to me. I called and spoke with him on 12/7/2022 and he claimed he had spoken with supplier and the parts weren't available because "Kohler doesn't make them anymore". He added I needed a new toilet and they would install it a no charge.The same day, 12/7/2022, I called Kohler and spoke with parts department. They confirmed that they still make the genuine parts to the tank, and in fact universal parts won't fit properly. I ordered both ****** fill and flush valves and hired a professional plumber to install. I'm happy to report that my toilet is now repaired and I did not need to incur the additional expense of a new toilet.I spoke with the owner and requested a refund because they guarantee repair, however he refused. I paid him $500 for toilet repair and he didn't provide the repair. I've added before and after pictures to show the cheap incompatible parts they used compared with the genuine Kohler parts that fixed the leak. It is unethical and unprofessional to lie about products. More importantly, it is criminal to take client's money and not refund for a service you didn't complete.
