I am writing to file a formal complaint against Coffey Bros. Moving, based in ***********, ********. It is my belief that Coffey Bros. employs deliberate and deceptive business practices designed to significantly inflate final costs well beyond the original quote. The company initially provided an attractively low estimate, which I now believe was intended to secure my business under false pretenses. Once the move was underway, multiple concerning behaviors emerged. Upon reading other reviews, I believe it is their standard practice to employ the following behaviors to inflate the balances owed: The crew arrives late and then misrepresents their start time on the invoice to increase delivery time/ billable hours.Incorrect pickup or delivery addresses are deliberately documented, which extended travel time and delayed delivery. The movers intentionally stalled and drew out the loading and packing process, often working at an unreasonably slow pace. The movers utilize unnecessary packing materials to rack up additional charges These tactics appeared to be designed to inflate the total cost of the move, which was far above what I had originally agreed to. When concern is expressed and the charges are questioned, the customer is told that their belongings would not be taken off of the truck until the balance was paid effectively holding the items hostage. This level of manipulation and lack of accountability is unacceptable. Numerous other customer reviews reflect nearly identical experiences, indicating a consistent and systemic pattern of unethical behavior. These include bait-and-switch pricing, poor communication, delays, and high-pressure tactics to force payment under duress. I respectfully request that the Better Business Bureau investigate Coffey Bros. Moving for these deceptive practices. Consumers deserve transparency, honesty, and fair treatment.

I've moved four times in ******* using movers and this was by far the worst experience I have had. ******, their sales representative, misquoted by move by more than double the final bill. Added extra fees, day of, knowing full well these items were in my original quote. Adjusted my initial quote after the movers were at the second location. Make sure you check your walls and floors, we found damage only because we looked, not because they acknowledged they'd done any ********* not trust Coffey Brothers Moving/The Moving Specialists quotes and never let them move you. They are deceptive and refused to accept any responsibility. I posted a review on a different platform and the owner responded claiming my post was fake and from a competitor, while threatening legal action.

I was quoted at $675. I ended up paying $1,045. Almost DOUBLE what I was quoted for this move. They told me they could dismantle things for me and charged me extra for everything. They significantly underestimated the time this would take. They also left behind an item, they broke my mirror, and they made me pay the full amount before seeing any of this. They didn't wear shoe covers in either location and dragged dirt all through my house. They are supposed to be the professionals and I feel like I got scammed.

Hot garbage. We left a good review but I am now deleting it because these people should be put out of business. We ended up with two broken TVs and and two broken bed frames after they hounded us for a review before they left after a 12 hour move and assured us wed be fine without the insurance because they'd be careful. That's why they hound you for a review, we spent 12 hours with these people and then they're calling us begging for a review after breaking ****** worth of stuff. We didn't see the broken items until after we left the good review and I couldn't get any money back for them because they needed receipts, who keeps receipts years after buying items, honestly? It was also double the price quoted. They charged us extra money for moving basic items like coffee tables and TVs and also charged us 5.00 for the box they gave us without saying before that it would cost money. It was a 12 hour move, yes it was a long drive but they also wasted two hours of time somehow and we were sitting there waiting forever for them to show up, costing us hundreds of extra dollars. Yeah they're nice to your face but its not with it for busted items and being charged double what they said. Don't smile in my face and ask for good reviews when you knew you broke my items and lied.

DO NOT HIRE this company. I was quoted 1800 over the phone with **** and we jumped on the quote. Then all of a sudden the day before my scheduled move they changed it to 2300k with no reason given. They arrived late and lied several times about their ***. Told me another truck was coming at 10am but it didn't show up until 2pm. The guys took forever to get everything packed up even though I did most of the packing and didn't know how to pack up the truck because they claimed they couldn't fit anymore things in. Once we finally were able to get to my new home at 5pm they refused to even start unloading until I paid them 4500k. How that happened I don't know. I was livid. It was not the agreed upon price and the movers kept saying it wasn't them but that I needed to talk to ****. **** was someone I had spoke with several times during the day and someone that kept repeating lying to us about the *** of the truck and how one was going to my new house when in fact it was sitting at my old house. **** then threatened to take my furniture and all of my belongings to the company's warehouse if I didn't pay. I gave him payment as I felt I was bullied into it and he claimed it didn't go through. Photos of my ********* were taken and sent over and when I inquired why payment didn't go through when I had the money in the account he didn't offer up an explanation instead he started yelling and saying it didn't go through. I told him to calm down and stop talking to me like that so we could figure out why the payment didn't go through as I couldn't even put my whole card number into the online form to fill out but instead he threatened to take my stuff again and hung up. I was so close to calling 911 on these scammers. They got paid for the job with no help of **** but I should have never hired this company. They broke some of my furniture and some of my items are missing. Please stay away from this company, they are scammers and the movers don't know how to move & smelt of weed.

This company quoted me $1,060 to move my furniture from ******** to ********* and then did a bait and switch when we got to ********* and charged me three times the amount to unload the truck and refuse to give me my furniture until I paid $2,803 and when it was all said and done they charged me $3,133.21 without my consent. And they also damaged my furniture. I immediately alerted the Mover ***** and he said that it was impossible that the bed was not put together right and that he put it together himself and that if he came back up it would be more money. I decided not to let them come back up because I had already spent more money than I had anticipated and money that I did not have.I had someone come and inspect the bed and it was discovered that slats were missing and they didn't put the pegs on the bed either. I have an upholstered bed, which requires 10 to 12 slats. When they lifted my bed up, the bed only had two and the pegs were laying on the floor instead of attached like they should have been. They also ripped box spring and there's a huge stain on the headboard, which was not there prior to the move. My set is less than 2 years old.I contacted the company on February 17th about the charges and they denied the claim.I contacted the company on March 13th after I had the furniture inspected and they also denied that claim. They stated that they cannot accept responsibility for the damages as it is too far out and I only have 72 hours to report any damages, which is impossible as I'm still unpacking because they left my house in total disarray and I wanted to make sure that there were no other items damaged and there were.I have filed a complaint with the ************************* and I'm waiting for the results.

Was told by **** that if movers went over an hr, I would be charged in 15 mins increments; come to find out I was charged for an hr. Was not told that moving time started soon as movers get there even if they aren't moving anything yet. Had to sign extra paperwork before movers even started moving my stuff. Arrived to my new place ***** mins before movers. Talked to some guy at the office for ***** mins about why I was being charged for another hr when the movers could have been moving stuff into new place. Also had to sign more documents that was already signed prior to moving day. Movers were just ok but the time that was wasted I ended up paying for.

Estimate was for 2 hours to move 14 items. $424 Ultimately charged for 4 hours after moving consultant said it would be 3.Overcharged for moving one glass coffee *********** cost was $948. All attempts to have the company rectify the problem fell on deaf ears.

Research done on customer's complaints. Reasoning for increase as below:Report from dispatch manager - Dispatch Report for Claims Specialist - Summary:On the day of service, **** was unavailable, and **** stepped in as her representative. The original estimate was for 2 hours, but several factors caused the job to take longer and the bill to increase.Fragile Items: We needed to crate a few fragile pieces, which required extra care and time.Payment Delay: There was a nearly 1-hour wait for payment. **** had to sign the credit card authorization form online and send pictures of her ID and card, which took longer than expected.Extended Service Time: The job, which was originally estimated to take 2 hours, ended up taking about 4 hours due to the payment delay and harsh weather conditions that made the work slower and more difficult.Impact:1. The service took 4 hours instead of the expected 2 hours.2. The final bill was higher due to the extended time, including the waiting period for payment.3. The payment delay was out of our control, as **** was busy and needed to provide extra documentation to complete the process.Daughter low key threat to report/post complaint one line - ****** , yelp

I strongly advise against using Coffey Bros Moving. Here's my experience: I hadn't moved in over 25 years and may have started searching for a moving company too soon. After making an offer on a house that was accepted, I thought everything was set, so I began exploring options. Among the companies I contacted, ******* ******* from Coffey Bros stood out as very helpful an excellent salesperson who convinced me they were the right choice.******* sent me a credit card authorization form and a contract. Unfortunately, I completed the authorization form first and sent it off. Within minutes, my realtor called to inform me that the sellers had backed out of the deal. I immediately called ******* and told him not to process the payment. He claimed it was already done but assured me verbally he would reverse the charge since I hadn't signed the contract. I followed up with an email, and that's when things took a turn. He stated the deposit was non-refundable, despite my not signing the contract, and his emails were unprofessional. He also denied ever promising to reverse the charges. I disputed the transaction with my credit card company and am waiting for a resolution. After this ordeal, I researched Coffey Bros and found numerous negative reviews describing similar issues. Its clear they are unprofessional and prioritize scamming people. I've accepted the $260 loss as a ****** learned and am relieved, I didn't let them handle my move. I wouldn't want such a company in my home.

Please don't. Watch out for so called lead ***************************. Walks in door asking for tips. Caught him sitting in truck while 2 others working hard. Took 1hr lunch and was charged for it while milking clock. Looking for tips and leaving 2 boxes outside when all 3 were given $15.00 a piece for lunch but didn't arrive to new location after 1hr after loading truck 2hr 45min. Didn't follow customer to *** location on a ***** run. Could have uploaded in 2hr or less for a 5hr job that was 7hr. Milking customer ******* dollars. Please don't use.
