1 starThe representative from Coffey came out to my house and visibly noted all items to be moved. Only a couple pieces of medium furniture and numerous boxes that were already packed. Everything was brought to my main floor and garage. received a quote of approx. $1600.00. Upon completion of the move charged me $2400.00. No explanation of the30% increase. I was at their mercy if I wanted the move completed. This is pure bait with a low price then sit the consumer with an inflated bill. (3) items broken. I'm not wasting my time with their insurance claim. Do not use this company unless you have them provide a maximum estimate. Dishonest to say the least.Review fromjaime J

1 starMy issues were with my quote and the company's management and policies: 1. The quote I was given by ****** was ridiculously underpriced. It set my expectations incorrectly from the start. I was quoted about $2500 for my move and in reality, the cost was about $5400. 2. Secondly, the company only accepts ***** or Cash App for interstate moves. While I found it unusual, I agreed and paid the 50% down payment via Zelle and was prepared to Zelle the remaining 50% on the move day. The problem is that my quote ended up being $3,000 more than expected and a) I didn't have that much cash to transfer, b) ***** has limits per transaction or per day so my family members couldn't even help, and c) Cash App was not working and ******, the dispatch manager, said we were not the only ones having an issue with it. Although I was really frustrated that my quote was so much higher than expected, I was prepared to pay via credit card. The company would not accept credit card and threatened to take my belongings back to their warehouse if I did not pay via *****. I find this absolutely ridiculous. I was prepared to pay the quoted about via Zelle, if you are going to charge me $3,000 more than expected I would appreciate some flexibility in payment method. The threat to hold my belongings was ridiculous. It was a Friday afternoon / evening in a holiday weekend when banks were closed. The movers even threatened to reenter my home and take back all the belongings they moved because we were having trouble with the payment method. 3. Lastly, the dispatch manager, ******, was absolutely horrible to deal with. It was a truly unbelievable customer service experience. The movers also said he's awful to deal with. Working with him created unnecessary stress in an already stressful situation. Instead of helping to find a solution ****** kept demanding cash and threading that my things would not be delivered. I felt scammed and like I was really being taken advantage of.Review fromJosh M

1 starCoffey Bros absolutely rips you off without any communication regarding overages. For a very straightforward local move from the city to a local suburb, I was quoted $4,000 less than what they ultimately charged. Coffey Bros estimates are intentionally low to entice you to sign a contract with them, and then they hit you with all the overages you can think of. Not only was the estimate completely wrong, they were unable to explain the overages when disputing. They even tried to include the unpaid lunch hour the workers took as an additional labor hour for all workers. When I tried to follow up with them, I was completely ignored and unheard. Additionally, without contacting us, they brought in a second truck and an additional mover, ultimately charging more without explanation upon sending the final invoice. Upon me attempting to get ahold of the Company to explain the overages, the dispatch manager then threatened to have all of my belongings remaining in the truck taken back to the Companys yard at their discretion of disposal. A completely fraudulent company made moving an even bigger headache than it already is. Very disappointed in everything about Coffey Bros, and STRONGLY discourage anyone from using them.Review fromGeorge N

1 starWe had a multi-day move estimated and scheduled where 5/29/2025 movers were to come to our home, load the truck, drive to our storage unit to load our additional items and then truck would be stored at the moving facility. 5/30/2025 the movers were scheduled to unload. We provided all furniture items in our condo as well as the storage unit in the estimate and were upsold insurance to cover our property. There were multiple issues that happened over the course of these 36 hours. First - the employees executing the load-out at our home got into multiple verbal altercations, which resulted in one employee quitting in the middle of the move and leaving the work for 3 people on 2. This caused the move-out to last about double the time than it should have. Total move time estimate was ~7 hours and this took over 5 hours. We did not load our storage unit items nor an outdoor furniture set we had on our estimated quote. Second - I called dispatch and Coffey Bros corporate multiple times to raise concern and address the issues and they screened my calls. My wife called from a different number and they answered right away. The resolution was to talk to their claims department. Third - Our move-in window on 5/30 was from 3-5pm. We had to call several times to confirm someone was coming. Movers arrived around 6:30pm. We were told they could go to the storage unit at night, but at 8:30pm after unloading we had exceeded the total cost estimate of the move and did not feel appropriate to go to storage unit and do another unload, keeping us (and them) away from our families for several more hours. Fourth - We had a few damaged items which we submitted a claim for since we were sold insurance. They also punctured a hole in the wall of the house we were moving out of. They denied the claim due to us packing the items ourselves. Why would they upsell us insurance if we did not have them pack the items to begin with? Overall unprofessional and unacceptable behavior.Review fromMichael S

1 starOn 6/30/2025, we hired Coffey Bros Moving to help move our belongings from a 2-bedroom apartment in *******, ** to a home in **************, **. We were provided with a quote estimating the move would take 2 hours at a rate of $533, which we accepted and scheduled. When the movers arrived, it became clear that they were inexperienced. The move ultimately took 9 hours, which was of course a lot longer than our estimate with everything itemized. This extended time was not due to added complexity or more items - it was due to slow, unorganized work. In addition to the unreasonable time increase, we were also charged for services and materials that were never mentioned in the original estimate, including: Packing materials, disassembly/reassembly of furniture, handling of "bulky" items, even though these items were discussed upfront during quoting. None of these charges were disclosed in the estimate or explained ahead. They were added to the final bill without prior consent. During the move, when the movers arrived at the destination, they refused to unload the truck until we paid the full inflated amount of ($2,308.63) - despite a call to the company to dispute charges, and their only resolution was a $20 coupon. We felt pressured and cornered into paying this just so we could get our belongings out. We would have never hired this service if this was the case... The movers also scratched freshly painted walls and a lamp was damaged. On top of the total cost, we also had to put a $200 deposit down and tipped $300 cash because we felt they were insisting it. We are very upset that the price was 140% of the original quote. We in total gave them $2,808 to move some furniture when he already moved everything else ourselves. THEY WERE A COMPLETE SCAM DO NOT HIRE.Review fromChristopher W

1 starThis company is a total scam, pays for fake ****** reviews, and will quote you one price and charge you 2X your quote . The phone employees will blame the quote reviews based on customers inaccurately reporting the amount of boxes they move. Save your pockets, do not use.Review fromAmber R

1 starI cannot stress enough how disappointing my experience was with this moving company, and I would never use their services again. I was initially quoted around $700 for a one-bedroom apartment move, but by the end of the day, the total had ballooned to $1,300. The quote was revised three separate times during the move, with the only explanation being that it was taking longer than expected. Each time they revised the quote, one of the two movers spent 1015 minutes on the phone with their office to revise the quote time that should have been spent actually moving. They added multiple unexpected fees, including charges for handling a mattress and a TV, none of which were disclosed during the move until they appeared on the updated quotes. To make matters worse, the hourly rate that was originally quoted was increased on the day of the move without any prior notice. When I raised these concerns, the company admitted they should have communicated these changes but failed to take meaningful responsibility. While they did issue a small refund because the move took less time than they billed me for I had to provide time-stamped screenshots to prove the actual duration. Even then, the refund should have been larger, and they dismissed the discrepancy as a typo on their end. The most frustrating part was their billing process. Each time the quote changed, I was required to sign off immediately without a proper explanation of the new charges. They also required full payment before they would begin unloading my belongings, leaving me with no real choice but to agree to the inflated total. Overall, I found this company to be incredibly dishonest, and the entire experience felt manipulative and predatory. I strongly advise against using them.Review fromJuanita J

1 starI tried to give this local company a chance and they tried to take advantage. I scheduled my move and paid my deposit a month in advance just to have my initial quote changed without my knowledge because of an untrained employees mistake. If you check the BBB, this exact issue has been reported on this company and I wish I would have saw it before. I had to cancel the day before my move after noticing a few hundred dollars more on my quote. Mind you, I checked the quote before my confirmation call the day before the move. I happened to check it a couple hours after the call and noticed the huge increase. If I would have never checked, I would have been expected to pay that amount on the day of the move. Both the receptionist and the manager ****** said there was nothing they could do about the miscalculation the initial employee, ****, performed. I would just have to pay it, even though it was not what I was quoted when I secured my move a month prior. Thankfully, a more reputable company was able to take care of me for even cheaper. Please be cautious.Review fromMary K

1 starI had a terrible experience with this moving company. I was originally quoted $492 for a two-hour move, but they dragged it out to 5.5 hours and charged me $1,396 nearly three times the estimate. This was for a small studio apartment, with everything packed and ready to go, moving just three minutes away. I only needed help with my couch and ****** make matters worse, the movers came back to my door after the job was done, pressuring me for more tip money. As a woman living alone, it felt invasive, and very inappropriate. When I tried to resolve this with the company, they didn't return my calls, and took weeks to respond to my emails. Eventually they put me in an email chain with 24 other customers who had similar complaints. None of which were able to come to a resolution. Clearly, this is a pattern. This isn't a one-off mistake; its a scam, plain and simple. When I left a review on ******, the company falsely flagged it as a fake, claiming they were being targeted by a disgruntled employee or competitor. I am a genuine customer, and their refusal to take accountability is concerning. This behavior misleads potential customers and raises serious questions about their business practices.* When I tipped $90 (based off original quote) he came knocking back on my door asking for more money. I already felt like they did not even deserve that based off my experience and that they were taking advantage. So he pressured me into Venmoing him an additional $80, which I regret and wouldn't have if I wasn't made to feel so uncomfortable by these men as a single woman living alone, knowing where I live and demanding more money. I felt very uncomfortable in this situation. Their business practices are misleading and predatory, and their customer service is nonexistent. This company thrives on deception, overcharging, and ignoring customers once they've taken your money. I strongly recommend avoiding this company at all costs.
