We are a small startup company experiencing significant service and billing issues with Stericycle (customer #********** since our service began in January 2025. Initially, Stericycle delivered incorrect brown cardboard containers instead of the red plastic containers we contracted for (Ref #********). Despite our repeated explanations, customer service representatives dismissed our concerns and insisted their manifest showed correct delivery of red plastic containers. They attempted to charge us approximately $550 to deliver the correct containers (ref #********) for their own error, which we eventually had corrected after extensive dispute.The customer service experience has been consistently problematic, with all calls recorded and a constant background beeping sound that makes communication difficult. Due to these issues, we attempted to minimize contact with their ****************** May 2025, a Stericycle representative significantly increased our container count from 13 to 39 units, and our management signed the revised contract. However, there appears to have been a miscommunication regarding what was actually being increased. We have email evidence from the Stericycle representative stating 'I am going to send over the request to increase the stops for your office,' but the actual contract modification increased container quantity rather than service stops.We have repeatedly attempted to obtain clarification from the responsible Stericycle representative regarding this discrepancy, but they have failed to respond despite being directly tagged and copied on multiple email communications. This lack of accountability and responsiveness is unacceptable.Additionally, Stericycle is now demanding approximately $30,000 for contract cancellation, which appears excessive given the service failures and miscommunications we have experienced throughout this business relationship.Business Response

I initiated contact with the company while in the process of starting my medspa. When I reached out, the sales representative gave me some questions, which I answered, and then later that person sent me an electronic agreement.I let the agreement go unsigned and eventually expire because I didnt want to sign anything. However, later on I spoke with another representative from the company over the phone and told him my fears of signing anything agreement. He told me it was just to get an estimate for pricing and nothing would be billed. I had no idea that an early cancellation fee would be attached to this document.After signing, I told the representative that I wasnt sure when my business would be open so I didnt want to be billed until I would use the service. He agreed that the service wouldnt start until I told him that it was open. Then, weeks later I received an email for a charge from this business. I have never used this service and I never emailed the company. I emailed the representative about being charged and he said he would take care of it. Then I got a notification from collections about the unpaid bill. Again I reached out and asked the representative what was going on. Again I was told that it would be taken care of. I continued to get billed and these continued to go to collections. Without ever using their service. Now, after being told Ill continue to be billed, I asked to cancel the account. And now there going to charge me $3300 something for early termination - saying it was in the agreement. An agreement I did not want to sign and was told this was the way to proceed with pricing. This feels like unethical behavior - I have petitioned the company to waive the termination fee but theyve refused.Business Response

To Whom it may concern:Concerning Stericycle, Inc. contract ********** I had contacted Stericycle about medical waste pickup in December of 2024. They told me they could keep us compliant with their program as well. I told them I actually needed just the medical waste pick-up. They were aware of our later than usual hours an I asked would they be able to provide service that late. They assured me they could. The customer rep. ******** ******) scheduled a pick up day and no one showed up. He scheduled a second pick up day and no one showed. I then called and was told he would contact them and see what was going on. I never heard back from him,nor did he return any of my other calls past that point. When Stericycle reached out to me about the bill I informed them they had broken their contract by not picking up the medical waste EVER! Stericycle continued to call about the bill, I continued to tell them that I had received NO SERVICE from them and would not be paying for them being UNABLE TO FULFILL THEIR SIDE OF THE CONTRACT. I had to go with another provider who has been able to pick up the medical waste EVERY month and EVERY time they were here on the day they said they would be. I will dispute this being a valid debt until the last breath leaves my body. I will not pay someone to do nothing. So at this point they are harassing me and my company for a invalid debt caused by a broken contract on their part. Inappropriate billing for services that were not provided, billing higher than rates were discussed, coming to pick up medical waste without any scheduling, asked to sign paperwork for services that were not picking up, ignoring all my phone calls, e-mails, and voicemails. Account manager from ********************** was suppose to call me and after a few of reaching out, they still have not answered me back to resolve issue. On-going issues with Stericycle is around 12 months. Billing us one invoice and sends to collection after 2 weeks of receiving the invoice.Business Response

We pay stericycle $45 each month to pick up our sharps containers at our facility and they have not picked up from our facility in over a year. I have called to complain and the issue has not been resolved. They post in their system that they did pick up but I have notified them of times that they stated they picked up when our business was closed or when our security cameras can show that no one attempted to come to our business. We have had to pay to use other services to dispose of our sharps due to the lack of service provided by stericycle. They also took my card off of autopay and did not notify me, creating a past due balance. The service and the customer service has been absolutely horrible.Business Response

The Man that comes to ********** Acute for medical waste is extremely rude, always yelling at our staff. This has been an ongoing issue and we have had multiple conversations with him about it. In 2021 we contracted stericycle for medical waste pick up. I was informed it was a 2 year contract. Over the years I can count on both hands the amount of times pick *** have taken place. I have called many many times the driver always states no waste to pick up which isnt true. After many many issues we decide to cancel our contract to this day they are not picking anything up and continuing to charge us. They refuse to cancel on basis of them not holding up their end and to make matters worse we were informed they actually have us in a 6 year contract not 4. Be warned going into business with this company is like a deal with the devil it will be h*** They dont want to do anything youre paying them for. Tell you theyre still providing online educational resources that you never asked for and attempt to bleed you dry while at the same time not fulfilling their obligationsBusiness Response

Over the last year our Stericycle pick-*** have become less and less reliable. We pay for monthly pick-*** but they have only come to our business 7 times in the last year. They have not been to our business since March 16 but yet they continue to bill us. I have contacted their office to voice my complaint and inform them that if they are not providing the service, then we won't be paying for the service. The office always schedules a pick-up but the pick-up day comes and goes with no-one from Stericycle showing up. I called the office to cancel our service on May 15 and was given a confirmation number. Then I was told that someone from the cancellation department would call me within 10 days to verify the cancellation. I received no such call. Then on June 20 I received a bill stating that I was going to be sent to collections for an unpaid balance on services I did not receive and that I had already cancelled. I called Stericycle again and was told that because the cancellation department had not talked with me, the account was still active. They also said it's their policy that an account cannot be cancelled until their team reaches out, which seems like a scam to me. I can't cancel the service without them approving my cancellation? In addition, my account is still active but yet I continue to not get pick-***. So I submitted yet another cancellation request but I am not hopeful that I will hear from their cancellation department because they can bill me without having to provide any service whatsoever. I'm hoping that others see this complaint and steer clear of this company. They used to be reliable but not anymore.Business Response

Approximately 1.5 years ago, Stericycle changed their charges, without notice, and started charging me for service, when they didn't even provide services. So I called and they admitted there was a billing error, and would fix it. And wanted me to sign a contract to continue service with them. After review of the contract, I decided not to sign it, and canceled service with them. They continued to send bills and attempted service, after I had canceled. I contacted them multiple times, and told them on numerous occasions about canceling their service. But they kept sending invoices, and we finally did get another *** that confirmed the cancelation several months ago, and I thought it was resolved, but I just got another invoice for $3402.22 with mentioning still being a customer. They have not been to my office for over a year and a half, if not longer. I need them to adjust amount owed to $0. As I never signed a contract and never agreed to anything or any changes, and canceled them, multiple times, telling them that i had canceled them. And I need them to stop sending me invoices and accept that I had canceled a long time ago, and have not used their service for a long time. I would appreciate any help in this matter.
