I filed with Tax Slayer for tax year 2020, I never received my State or my Federal refunds. I contacted them last year and all they could tell me is call the IRS, well that is completely impossible I tried for months. Now I am being fined for ****** ******** ***** from 2020 because they were never filed when I have the emails saying both state and federal were accepted. I had to pay for a amended return to get this taken care of which is terrible because I paid for the services to efile but they must have not done something incorrect on their end. My return was not rejected, I feel they should be taking care of this and investigating this issue. I went through a nasty divorce from 2020 to 2021 so life was very stressful for me and that was the last thing I needed to worry about.

      Review of the
account shows 2020 returns were filed and accepted by the IRS and state on
**********. Once the returns are accepted, we are no longer included in the
refund process. This is a self-preparation website and, as such, the taxpayer
      is the tax preparer.

      Further
review of the account shows the taxpayer did not complete the ****** **** *** *** **** ****** ******** taxes. If the taxpayer needs to create the ******,
please log back into your account and go to the State Section > ****** and
create the form needed. Should the taxpayer need any assistance with the
entries, please email or call us and we will be happy to help.

      For refund
information, the taxpayer will need to reach out directly to the IRS and/or
state. The tax agencies will not provide us with information as we are neither
the taxpayer nor the paid preparer of the return.

We are working with this customer through our customer support team to create the ****** that the customer did not included in her original 2020 state filing.

We have also recommended to the user to print, sign and mail the returns with the submission number showing proof that the returns were filed. We are not able to do this on behalf of the customer. We ask that the user reach out to our support team if she has any further questions.

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

They helped me handle the problem, it was all because of identity theft. I appreciate being helped and guided by tax slayer.

      Sincerely,

I used TaxSlayer as a free edition and ended up getting charged for so called taxes and fees. I already had this issue with ********* Not understanding what happened now

The Free Edition is limited to users who have a simple tax return. A simple tax return is one with W-2 income only, no dependents, the standard deduction and no credits.

It appears this return included Form 8880 to claim the Credit for Qualified Retirement Savings Contributions. This credit is not included in the Free Package.

If you would like to contact our support center, we would be happy to explain this to the taxpayer. You can also check our homepage for a list of our packages.

On or about ******** 3, 2022 I used the taxslayer online service to file my taxes which I haven't filed in about eight years. I filed then in order to take advantage of the government's generous earned income child credit. After filing I received a pop up mail that told me my return was rejected. It told me to refile but I thought it would have been useless so I didn't bother. On or around *** 2022 the IRS sent me a letter noting that I had a few mistakes on my return and that they had amended it and I would get a bigger refund. Well by ****** of 2022 I hadn't received anything so I decided to call the number on the paper they sent but it was very difficult getting thru. I tried day after day, week after week to get thru. Finally I reached someone In customer service and the looked up my information and told me that they had sent my refund directly to my bank, and that I needed to call them and find out what happened to it. I called my bank they did a monthly search back several months and reported that I never received that money. I called taxslayer and that told me that they did deposit the money into my account....... My ******** account. I explained that I don't have a ******** account so that can't be me and I didn't add an account on to my irs filing because I always had a certified bank account @30 years. They told me it could not have gotten on there unless I put it there and authorized it. This isn't true.Much more has happened with this company since this incident but now they won't speak to me at alland claims to have no record of my information. I would like for them to find out who worked on my tax returnchanged my information has a card in my name or received the exact amount of money on it that I was supposed to get and who took the money off that card in increments so as not to be notice The card is registered to a Georgia address and has been on the ******** account since ******* 2020This is the information I received from the ******** customer service

I understand that you have concerns regarding your 2021 return and possible identity theft.

In reviewing your account, I see that the 2021 return was e-filed on ******** 22, 2022. That submission was rejected by the IRS within 30 minutes of it being filed. The return was rejected because the IRS had already received and accepted a return using the same Social Security Number as your return. If your identity had been stolen and used to prepare a fraudulent return, it seems it happened prior to filing the return using TaxSlayer since this return was rejected.

Additionally, in reviewing this return, the refund and address information in your BBB complaint do not match what is on record for this account. To see what is listed in your account, you can log in and review the Basic Information for the mailing address. The masked banking information can be found on the PDF of the return. The taxpayer has further indicated that the ***** *** account was active since ******* of 2020. The account with TaxSlayer was not created until 2022.

If you believe that you are a victim of identity theft then you should sign, print, and mail your correct return to the IRS for processing. Be sure to include your supporting documents such as W-2s and 1099 forms and sign the return. The IRS will review the matter fully.

We also recommend you contact the IRS immediately at 800-829-1040, as an income tax return has been filed using your social security number. The IRS also has an identity theft phone number which is 1-800-908-4490.Additionally, if you think you *** be a victim of identity theft then you *** want to contact your local authorities as well. Visit the IRS website for additional assistance to help resolve this matter.
