Today 23 September 2025 at 2:44pm I received a call from "****" at RNN Group ***************).He asked me to verify employment information. I told him I did not understand what he wanted and once vaguely explained said that I did not like the sound of this, declined to speak with him and terminated the ******* 2:45 pm he called back again. He said he was not looking for any information just a yes or no answer. I told him I had no idea what *** was, I had no employees that would require employment verification and again declined to speak with him. As a former law enforcement officer (20 years); private sector investigator (10 years) who conducted both public and private sector employment verifications I think whatever *** does the practice they used with me was highly unacceptable and not straight forward. I found the calls to be bothersome at my small retail fishing store and the second call should absolutely not have been made. Without a written waiver from an employee; I am not releasing any information and a company like *** should know this. And if they are working on behalf of some debt collector, that should be stated up front. Extremely unprofessional and made me feel like it was a scam call.Business Response

Hello ****** **********,
RNN Group wishes to address your concerns and assist in resolving this matter regarding the communication received through the BBB on September *******. RNN Group provides employment verification services for companies for which we are contracted. The data that RNN Group uses is sourced from compliant and legal data providers with permissible purpose*, and these sources only obtain data that was reported by the individual. As a rule, we do not ask for any salary or wage information and protect your privacy. Please rest assured that you will not be contacted by RNN Group again, and your record has been closed in our system.
RNN understands your concerns regarding privacy and the nature of our requests. Please be assured that the information we use is sourced from reputable, compliant, and legally permissible data providers. In our communications, we strictly adhere to all applicable laws, including privacy regulations, and ensure that no personal information is ever disclosed without explicit authorization. We are hired by federal agencies, state agencies, insurance companies, and law firms to verify employment and other data as deemed necessary and lawful.
Upon reviewing our records, we determined that the initial call was disconnected before we were able to provide the name of the individual whose employment we were attempting to verify at the 33 second ***** Our employee made the decision to call back to try to explain what we do, we understand that this may have caused frustration, and we have addressed this internally with the employee to ensure that follow-up calls are not made in situations where the owner has made it clear they do not want to comply.
Additionally, we have added your phone number *************) to our internal block list so that no further verification calls will be placed to your business.
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and appreciate your feedback, which helps us improve our processes.
.
Thank you for your time.

I have not done business with this company, have not requested services, and have not recently applied for any jobs or credit anywhere recently. However, I just received a call at my current work locations office, which is a remote location not publicly associated with my name anywhere except in my Workday account with my employer, a public agency. This caller attempted to verify my date of birth and the last 4 digits of my SS#, both of which were incorrect. I did not give them any information and they very quickly disconnected the call. Any employment verification calls would normally go to the head office, where management and administrative staff are located. This comes a day or two after Workday publicly admitted to being the victim of a hacking attack in which employee information may have been leaked, which leads me to believe that, while they may be a legitimate business, they may be providing verification services of the personal information of public employees to less than legitimate clients. I was not given any reference numbers or any reason as to why this information was being requested. This is extremely concerning.Business Response

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me as long as they honor the last line in the first paragraph of their response. "Please rest assured that you will not be contacted by RNN Group again, and your record has been closed in our system."Looking through all of their complaints, everyone is having the same issue my company is having with RNN Group and it appears that the calls continue even after being reported to the BBB. I will continue to file complaints as long as they continue call ViaQuest. I do not believe the statements that "individuals are requesting" we check for their employment here as no one they have called for has ever worked here. I feel this company needs to be better investigated.

On 5/8/25, my current/ former employer received a request for an employment verification. The request also included some incorrect information (ss# does not match my SS#). This employment verification was not initiated at my request for any purposes as i am not going through any process that requires this step. The request also did not attach a consent/ release form. I have called several times on 5/12/25 and 5/13/25. i have left several messages to the supervisor after i spoke with a representative advising them that i was not providing consent for them do an employment verification. In my 4 voicemails to the supervisor (ext. 113- ******** ******) i have specifically provided her with some details outlining that this is against **** guidelines. I was also requesting a copy of the vendor/ company that initiated the request and a copy of this consent form (as i know i did not sign one). The supervisor has failed to respond to any of my calls, and my voicemails have gone unanswered. i am concerned this is fraudulent activity and i am not getting any responses from this agency.Business Response

Hello ********* *******,
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this situation may have caused. RNN Group is a third-party employment verification company that works on behalf of our clients to ensure the accurate and up to date employment.
The data we utilize is sourced from compliant and legally authorized providers, who collect information reported by individuals with a permissible purpose*. Our outreach to businesses is solely for the purpose of confirming employment status. Please be assured that we do not request salary or wage information, and we are committed to protecting everyones privacy throughout this process.
Thank you for allowing us time to investigate your complaint. Our company is a nation-wide company that handles thousands of verifications a day. During our investigation we found that we had multiple clients that were looking to confirm multiple employees of yours.
Our supervisor ****** did initially shut down the account that asked for no more calls and noted what was needed. When we received this voicemail from you on January 10th Hi! This is ********* ******* with medical solutions. I was just calling you back because I've spoken with you a couple of weeks ago. And supposedly you were a supervisor who was going to take care of Rnn. Contacting our company over and over again. I do not have a resolution to this. I just got another voicemail this morning from your company. The account number that they gave us was 3, 1, 7, 7, 2, 3. I'm sorry. *********** is what she gave us, or I guess **** ***** gave us when they left us a voicemail asking us to return their call. I'm not returning ******* call. I'm returning it to you because you informed me that you were going to have Rnn. Take us off of all their calling lists. Because, 1st of all, you guys never have an authorization which we have to have to release information. Secondly, all of our verifications go through a 3rd party which is verified today. So we've told you guys this. And you guys refuse to listen to this. We are at the point of harassment. I will be turning your company in if you do not get this taken ,it was immediately forwarded by ****** to Compliance at 11:51am eastern time.
Compliance did investigate and found the phone number that was called was due to multiple employment verification requests for different people by different clients. Compliance did make the decision to block all further numbers attempts at the number by adding your number to our Global Do Not Call. This was confirmed by our IT at 12:35pm on January 10th. No further calls have been sent out since we received your voicemail.
If there is anything more we can do to assist, please reach out below. The FastSupport email goes straight to the Director of Regulatory Compliance and the phone number goes to our floor manager.

I am rejecting this response because: I actually received another call this morning from *** asking for a verification of employment. I also received a voicemail yesterday 01/14/2025 and forwarded it to *********************************** which was the email provided to me by ******* in your company (x7627) to show that these phone calls are still being received, so if the system was updated on the date that you state it was updated, why am I still receiving phone calls?
Sincerely,

Good Afternoon.
Can you confirm the number that was called. The number that was blocked was ************. This is the number on the account for ********* from the voicemail and the number that was dialed on the 10th. If there is any other number, I can block it immediately. I have confirmed through IT that the last time ************ was dialed was on the 10th. You can respond back here or email the Director of Regulatory Compliance *********************************** the phone numbers you want blocked. I am sorry for the inconvenience.

I am rejecting this response because: Our main number when you ****** Medical Solutions is ************** so I have no idea what number that is that you blocked. We have multiple numbers for our company (local and toll free) as we service Aureus Medical, Host Healthcare, World Wide Health, and Matchwell. I have no way of figuring out what all numbers your company calls in on without paying our IT department to dig into your company name/phone number and see if they can determine which all phone lines the calls are ringing in on. Rather than blocking a single number, any time someone states they are trying to verify information for our company, the information that should pop up on your screen for your customer service agents is DO NOT CALL. It is not our responsibility as a company to provide you information to get you to stop harassing us.
Sincerely,

We appreciate ********* ******** feedback and want to take this opportunity to address her concerns thoroughly.
After reviewing her response, we conducted additional research into the company she represents to ensure we are identifying the phone numbers we may have contacted. We have located three additional numbers associated with the company names that ********* ******* provided and have added them to our Do Not Call Database to prevent future calls.
Our calls are made as part of employment verifications conducted on behalf of our government, insurance, or other client organizations.. While we understand ********* ******** request to cease verification calls, we must clarify that we cannot control instances where her employees apply or have business with one of our clients, which may necessitate verification of the information.
To address her concerns further, we have informed our clients that her company requires a signed release to verify employment.
Should ********* ******* wish to discuss this matter further, have any other phone or business she wishes us to issue a stop call too, we encourage her to contact our Director of Regulatory Compliance at *************************************************************.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we strive to resolve this matter.Customer Answer
