I purchased a used engine and transmission in October 2022 for my 2016 ******* Santa Fe. I paid $6500 for the engine and $900 for the transmission. Was told both were from a vehicle that only had ****** miles on it. When the engine arrived my mechanic said it was in bad shape (valve covers leaking, bolts broke off that had to be removed/replaced, timing cover broke, oil pan smashed and so on.). I had to pay an addition $500+ to fix all the broken parts. Everything was installed and it still leaked oil. The mechanic had to pull the transmission again to replace some silicone seal and I was charged another $700 for labor. Now everything is put back together and the engine still leaks oil and the head gasket is blown. I have contacted AM Used Auto Parts many times and they haven't done anything to remedy the situation. They keep pointing me to their generic warranty. I requested a full reimbursement of all expenses (engine, transmission and labor). I told them I would have my mechanic pull the engine and transmission and they could come pick it up. As of today, I currently have about $9600 ($7400 engine/transmission, $1500 original install plus added labor, and $700 to fix oil leak) in this and it still isn't functional.

Hello, sorry to hear you are still having issues. I emailed you the receipt of the $500.00 you had to pay the mechanic to swap out the extra parts. You stated that your vehicle ran excellent for a couple months. You did email about having a blown head gasket, our warranty dept has asked you for receipts and pictures of the engine heat tab so we can help you file a claim. As of today you have not provided any receipts or pictures of the engine heat tab. We did contact your mechanic and he stated that the engine run excellent when you took the vehicle from the shop. He also stated that he gave you all the receipts. Please submit the receipts and pictures of the engine heat tab so we can file a claim. Thank you.

On November 30th 2022, I received a call from this *****, AM Used Auto Parts, saying they had an engine matching my description of a **** **** explorer sport trac. They told me they would have it on the road that day, come to find out 4 weeks later that was a lie, 4 weeks later was the day it finally shipped on 12/8/2022, and it arrived the 13th. Upon arrival it smelled like a ****** of dead fish. Upon inspection, which they did an inspection before sending it to me, or so they claim, we found that a timing chain was broken and 2 guides were destroyed for the timing chains, not to mention it was covered in nasty black grime that looked like dead seaweed and did not share the characteristics of a maintained engine with ***** miles on it. And to top of this cake the engine was the WRONG ENGINE, they sent a **** something explorer engine that was a 4.6 liter instead of a 4.0 liter like my **** **** sport trac, keep in mind they had all of this information and someone *************** up. And now they will not pay for shipping back to the place it came from, despite me getting a broken, dirty, rusted out, incorrectly fitting engine. And their customer service is horrid, I tried explaining what was going on in a nice fashion, after I had seen the engine for myself and they essentially called me stupid and that in their non mechanic advice, it is a simple fix we are willing to send a couple of parts for, which this engine is not able to be saved. Then they even called over another person to ask if they thought the engine would work, and all I have to say is, if I get sent a broken incorrect part, should I really have to pay for shipping, which will cost close to 300 dollars which I can hardly afford because I already spent a ton on this engine. All in all these people are taking advantage of customers like myself and forcing me to pay for shipping on an engine that never even made it into my truck.

Sorry to hear you are not happy with the used engine received. You are more then welcome to return the engine for refund. Engine must be return with in 30 days of receiving. Thank you.

      Complaint: 18602586

I am rejecting this response because: i did not receive what I ordered, and I will not be paying the shipping back to the yard because I didn't receive the part promised, and the part was broken, and rusted through, there are multiple different problems with the timing chains that would have to be fixed and even then, there is no guarantee it will run after all the repairs. And it couldn't have been tested, the timing chains are broken, along with the guides, not to mention the years of rust on the main gear and serpentine belt pulleys. So the only thing I will settle for is payment back for the shipping and a full refund of the cost I paid, anything else is unacceptable.

      Sincerely,

I understand you are not happy with the conditions of the engine but the engine was ran tested prior being removed from the vehicle. Engine will have some rust it is over 21 years old. Again we can issue a refund once engine is returned with in 30 days of receiving.

We purchased a ****** Imprezza engine from the business. We diligently followed all of their required warranty-related steps during installation and then again during return of the engine after it failed several weeks after installation. After numerous telephone calls over several weeks, we were told we would be issued a full refund of $1,350. When we hadn't received a refund check after several more weeks, I called again. I was told there was nothing wrong with the motor and they would be taking a restocking fee and shipping fee off the top of my refund. I had my mechanic (****** Master Mechanic for 35 years, *********, **) join the call to confirm with them the engine is locked and explain that if they removed the crank case they could confirm the engine was locked. They initially said they would do that and then when I called to follow up again they said they would not do that and that there is nothing wrong with the engine. I had them speak with my mechanic again, and at that point they said they would look into it with the owner of the business and call me back. They never did call me back and instead mailed a check to me with only partial refund of $750 and note stating the engine was returned with no issues and the warranty was voided. I request that the full refund be issued based on the fact that the engine failed, and according to the ****** Master Mechanic, the engine is locked.

We understand you are upset and we apologize. I see you purchased a engine on June 6 and was delivered on June 13. Then on September 27th you called in and stated there was a issue with the engine. We spoke to your tech and he stated engine was ran for a couple months and then engine locked up on you. Yes you submitted everything to file a claim so thank you. We accepted your claim and told you to ship engine back. Engine was returned and upon inspection engine was not locked up like your mechanic stated. We sent you a video showing you as well. You have been refunded but unfortunately since the engine was not locked up like you and your mechanic stated we refunded minus a restocking fee and shipping. Our warranty company denied the claim as well since they said what we told them was a lie. Hopes this helps you understand the fees were deducted from your refund.

I believe AM Auto Parts store out ****************************************** has committed FRAUD.I purchased a ****** Transmission(see below) on behalf of my sister in-law *************************** on January 2022.Reference # ******* Part(s) Ordered: Transmission Description:2001 ****** Outback 2.5 L AWD Warranty 3 Yr. Parts ************ Warranty Year Total Cost with Shipping $795.00 Price Plus Tax $795.00 Payment Authorized: $795.00 This transmission was shipped directly to Santa Fe ****************, ** on January-2022. We paid $2,810.15 for installation and additional parts needed for proper installation. The transmission was found to be faulty after being installed. It would not shift into gear. AM Auto Parts had it pick up and shipped a 2nd one. The 2nd one that was ***** and our ****** mechanic highly recommend not install. I personally drove 4 hours to see for myself, took pictures and found it to be as stated by the ****** mechanic. At the end of August 2022, I called the store manager, I believe his name is *******, for the **** Rapids MN store and he stated we would have to pay for shipping charges to return the second one and then he would give my sister in-law a refund. The assured me that the transmissions the sell are inspected and test. ************ at *************** stated there was no way for them to test them. I have not contacted him since then.

      Hello

Customer purchased transmission on January 21st and customer received part on January 31st. Called on March 11th stating they did no like the oil in the transmission and did not want to install. Even though it was past the 30 days customer has to report any problems warehouse shipped customer another part on April 6th. We thought this was done with and then customer called again on July 28th stating the repair shop did not like the looks of the replacement part. Now we understand that shops are busy but twice this shop waited months to just take a '' Look" at the part and say they do not like it. Unfortunatly we sell used parts and being that this part is 21 years old its going to have some wear and tare. There is nothing we can do at this moment since customer fail to install and activate the warranty per there contract.

I am rejecting this response because;  Based on the mechanic's professional expertise and what I saw of the 2nd transmission that was sent to ***************, I approved them not installing the 2nd transmission because of all the rust on it.

We do not want to have to pay another $1,100 to install the 2nd transmission shipped to activate the warranty. It does not make sense for us to invest another $1,100 on 2nd installation and take another chance the 2nd transmission that *** be faulty due to all the rust present on the it.  Also, the 2nd transmission shipped in leu of the 1st transmission does not meet the standards of the purchase we paid for at $795.

As an online customer of AM Auto ******************** we fully went by what they advertised on the website and paid for the 1st Transmission that was advertised at only having 75k miles, had been tested and was warranted for 3 years. That is what we paid for at $795. We feel that the Warranty is null due to the fact that 1st Transmission was faulty and we weren't even able to drive the car off the parking lot.

Therefore, as a customer, we would like a full reimbursement and the 2nd Transmission pick up from Santa Fe ****************, **.

      Thank you,

      Sincerely,

      *********************

I purchased a transmission online for $799 on 10/20/22. I cancelled the purchase by email on 10/24/22. I also placed multiple calls to *********************** the salesman and ***** in shipping cancelling the order and inquiring about the refund prior to the order being shipped . I received an email that the order had been shipped on 10/31/22. I called and spoke to **** about the order being shipped when I had cancelled it. He sent me to *****. I explained the situation to *****. He stated that when the shipment arrived to refuse the it, the when they receive it they will test it and then I'd be issued a refund. I refused the order as instructed. On 11/18/22 I received a refund for $339.20. I sent an email to **** on 11/21/22 explaining that their was a mistake with my refund that I should've been refunded the full amount according to their cancellation policy which states a full refund will be issued if cancelled before the order was shipped , which it was. **** didn't reply. I called **** 11/22/22 and asked why I didn't receive the full refund he said because of the shipping charges and restocking fee. I told him ithe order was cancelled prior to being shipped. He said he would have to talk to accounting and to call him back in 5 hrs. I didn't accept that so he placed me on hold and when he returned he said they were not issuing the full amount. I have email correspondence along with recorded phone calls proving the order was cancelled prior to being shipped. So I would like to be reimbursed the full amount since I'm in compliance with their cancellation policy.

      Business Response

Hello, sorry to hear you are upset, customer ordered a transmission, warehouse tested, pulled, inspected and shipped the part out. Once the part left customer canceled the order. Per the contract the customer signed and agreed to states that all parts that are pulled and shipped and customer wants to cancel have a 20% restocking fee and shipping fee. Customer called to cancel after the part left and we told that he could either accept the part or refuse it if he did not want it. Part was refused and once returned we refunded customer minus shipping and restocking fee per the the contract. Shipping companies charge us shipping both ways and warehouse charges a restocking fee for testing and pulling the part.

I understand you are upset and we apologize. We shipped you the engine that was ordered but your mechanic did not want to do what our warranty instructs a customer to do and that is to replacement gaskets and seals on the used engine before part is installed. It is the correct way to properly install a used engine. We did take the engine back since you are not obligated to replace what is required and you were refunded. If you have any further questions please reach out to us. Thanks.

On March 16, 2022 I purchased a used engine from this company. I was told it was completely functional after it was pulled and tested. I was also told that the shipping was covered but when the engine arrived at the shop that was going to install it they had to pay $350. I contacted AM used parts to let them know what happened and they said they were going to refund the money- all I ever received was an email stating they had refunded the money but nothing was ever refunded on my card and I was never able to get that refund. Then when the engine was going to be installed my mechanic found it to be seized. AM used parts was notified and I was told that I would be responsible for the return shipping, $926. Once they had possesion of the engine they said their mechanic inspected it and it was not locked up and are now refusing to refund the cost of the engine despite them having it and claiming it is functional. They did tell me that I could pay for return shipping if I wanted the engine back. This is all after they sent an email stating that they would refund the cost of the engine $3499.00! Now I am stuck without an engine and out over $4425. I have been promised a video of the engine turning over but there is no way to know if it is the engine that I returned and I do not trust this company to show me MY engine and I have complete faith in the mechanic that was going to install it as he has been working on all my vehicles for over 20 years without any issues!! I am simply asking for a refund on the engine. If it is functional then they can ************* and won't be out any money- they are currently making money off of me.

I am rejecting this response because: I was not asked to send a video of the engine.  I was told that I needed to have the engine installed (at my cost of over $2000) and the diagnostic record sent to them.  The mechanic that I was working with declined to install a malfunctioning engine and performed the diagnostic and it was emailed to them.  I was told that I would get a full refund by phone and email then the business decided not to and then expects me to pay to have the engine shipped back to ********* ****** after having to ship it to them ($926).  I am still waiting on the reimbursement that I was told I would get for the initial shipping that was suppose to be covered and it wasn't- I have a fake refund receipt.  The mechanic I am working with does not believe that the video they have is the engine that was sent to us.

I purchased a used 2012 **** Focus transmission from AM Auto Parts on July 15th 2022. It was delivered to ******************* in *******, ************** on September 8th 2022. The transmission received was not in good working condition as promised on purchase; the clutch needed to be replaced. The service manager at the dealership and I spoke with a representative from AM Auto Parts to agree on a way forward. We proposed to replace the clutch components in the transmission at the dealership and the warranty provided with the transmission cover the cost of parts to bring it to working condition. Clutch parts are covered according to the warranty I received on purchase of the transmission. The dealership provided the required diagnostics and paperwork requested to satisfy the requirements of the warranty. After review, the AM Auto Parts representative gave verbal permission to me to go ahead with the clutch replacement on the transmission on September 14th 2022. The dealership proceeded to replace the clutch. After the clutch replacement was completed and the transmission was deemed to be in good working condition, the dealership sent the invoice to AM Auto Parts. This was October 25th, 2022. AM Auto Parts refused to pay for the warranty repair which had previously been authorized to us ($1,776.06). I called the AM Auto Parts representative on November 1st 2022 to discuss the matter. He was very rude and hung up on me twice, refusing to pay any costs for the clutch replacement on the transmission.

Hello to hear this has happened. I can assure you that we would never authorize a dealer to rebuild your transmission, also a dealer would never touch a car unless the person paying would sign for the repair. Can you please send over the paper working showing we signed for the repair. Also when a part goes bad we file a claim and replace or refund, we do not authorize to rebuild for twice the amount you paid us for the part, but please if you can provide those documents showing we authorized for the repair I can look further into this. Again I'm sorry the dealer has done this to you but if neither you or us signed for the authorization of the rebuilding of the transmission you should speak to the dealer.

      Thanks

I am rejecting this response because:

*******************************, from AM Auto Parts, authorized the dealership to repair the clutch components in the transmission over the phone to me on September 14th. He was presented with diagnostics and shop notes from the dealership stating the transmission received was not in working condition and required a clutch replacement. I then gave the go-ahead to the dealership to complete the repair. When presented with the invoice from the dealership, ******************************* refused to pay for the repair he authorized. He hung up on me. Twice.
Whether your employee followed proper protocol to repair the transmission  or not is immaterial here. He provided verbal authorization for the dealership to complete the repair.
You breached your sales agreement by providing to me under false pretenses a working transmission for a *********************** fact was defective. To resolve this issue, I require AM Auto Parts provide me with a check for $1776.06 to cover the clutch parts needed to make the transmission purchased operational.

      Sincerely,

I understand what you are saying but we never authorize for the transmission to be rebuilt. Please send over signature showing we authorize the rebuilding of the transmission.

I desperately purchased a used transmission from this company that comes with a three year warranty. The transmission blew out in 3 months. I contacted the company. It will cost me around $500 to ship the transmission back, then they will possibly send me another used transmission at my expense to ship ($500), then I have to pay another $2000 to have the used transmission put back in my vehicle. The original used transmission cost $1850. This company is defrauding many of it's customers. Due to desperation, I'm sure people are still buying from them in and hoping for the best (as I did). This appears to be their scam. They sell you something that sounds too good to be true, then when you require them to uphold their warranty, it costs you more than the original item purchased. I don't know how they've gotten away with this scam for this long. I'm not in a financial position to play this game. I'm going to be out $1850 for the junk transmission, and $2000 for initial installation. I'm not able to afford this game. If they send another junk transmission and it goes out in another three months. I have to pay to have it installed at $2000 and also for the shipping of the new used faulty transmission. They are scamming the people that can't afford to defend themselves in court. sorry to hear that you are upset about the transmission you received in July. We can assist you to file a claim. We just need you to send over a diagnostic along with your warranty activation confirmation. Once we receive that we can help file your claim. We understand that you are upset that the used part went bad it is never our intent to send you a part that will go bad 4 months later. These are used parts and anything can happen at any giving time. Once we get all required part will need to be returned and inspected and then we will issue you a refund. Part must be returned in the same condition it was received in. Thanks

I am still having issues with this company. They are refusing to send a shipping label for this transmission to be sent back. Its going to cost me out of pocket approx.. $266.00. I just had to pay $6200 to have a new transmission installed (for the second time in less than 6 months). I do not have the money for this. However, if I dont do it, then they are going to keep my $1800 refund.

It is unclear why they need this transmission back anyway. Are they planning to sell it to another unsuspecting customer? That doesnt seem very honest. Some poor new customer is going to get taken advantage of too.

I need assistance as soon as possible. Please.

The cost to ship this thing back just keeps going up. We are now at ********************************** on $450. This company isnt responding either. They arent sending a shipping label and have not stated what the refund will be.

I see that a claim was filed so thank you for sending what was required. Our customer service explained to you that the part must be returned in order to receive a refund full. This is on our warranty and confirmation form that you read initialed and signed so its nothing new. Sorry to hear that you did not understand but all parts must be returned in the same condition received in order to receive a refund.

I am rejecting this response because: The cost to ship this piece of junk back is around $400 and possibly more. The cost to have it installed, put it around $5200 last time, and had to purchase a whole new one and have it installed at $6200. You sent a broken piece of junk. You should be responsible for the cost of getting it back. It is beyond incomprehensible to continue running your scam. You hope that customers either wear themselves out and go away, or go ahead and send it back. You aren't out anything and you'll just sell it to some other poor unsuspecting customer and hope they wear themselves out.

Your operation needs to be shut down. You are scamming people out of thousands!

      Sincerely,
