I was manipulated into renewing my Hostgator hosting in 2023, for 3 years and a year in I contacted them because I did not realize my web developer switched hosting. I asked to be released from the 3 year contract and they continued to give me the run around and not refund me. The email they sent for me to renew made it sound like my website would be shut down if I did not renew. Now, a year after this, they have sent me another alarming email threatening my website will be shut down if I don't "Act Now." This is predatory behavior and tricks those who are not savy into shelling out money for nothing. They refused to refund me to this day.

I transferred ALL of my domains from them a year ago and they told me that EVERYTHING was cancelled A YEAR AGO. Today I get a message saying that some services are pending to be renewed... How come when you confirmed that my accout was CANCELLED A YEAR AGO???? Makes no sense...

*********** not use Bluehost unless you want to use Bluehost FOREVER, because they will NOT give you back your domains. If you're dealing with them and came to the BBB site because of it, they clearly ignore BBB complaints. But they did respond to an ***** complaint: ****************************************** It took me 3 months and a formal complaint to ***** to get my domains transferred, with them lying, fighting, and gaslighting me the whole way through.Either they keep their domains all locked all the time or they locked all of mine the second I requested transfer auth codes. (Based on the date that showed on *****, I'm going to say it's the latter.)Their customer service **** appear to be trained to IGNORE references to locked domains, because every single one of them responded to my repeated demands that they unlock my domains by assuring me they'd get me a new transfer auth code sent out, refusing to acknowledge the actual issue.Every step of the process was full of "warnings" about transferring away from them. It'll take ages, my website will be down during the switch (which, duh.) They tried false "deals" to keep me, offering to "let me" renew the domain for $19.99 (regular price.) They responded quick once they were contacted by *****, but they still made it as difficult as they could. Pointless extra steps, repeated reaches out to customer services, more lies. Intentionally alarmist emails "warning" me "someone" was trying to transfer my domains. The time period was ridiculous. I wound up paying for an extra 3 months of hosting (their goal) while trying to resolve this. I'm still getting "warning" emails about things expiring. And my personal email was out there in WHOIS land for 3 months during this fight, since you have to turn off domain privacy to do a *********** not use Bluehost. And, again, if you came to the BBB site to complain, go to ***** instead. That works.

I never selected auto-renew, but Host Gator tried to deceptively charge 3 years of hosting for multiple websites without my consent. Further, their systems would not let me shut off auto-renew on my own and would not let me remove my own credit card on my own, thus forcing me to have to interact with their representative who wanted to ask questions about why I wanted to leave and if they could convince me to stay. Even after canceling, the customer service agent used evasive, ambiguous language, like you won't be charged after your term expires rather than affirming it was canceled today. Their system continued to say that auto-renew was selected and that my credit card remained on file, even after the representative said they canceled it. I had to continue to waste my time insisting that auto-renew be turned off (as it literally said "auto-renewing" account) and to insist they remove my credit card from their system. Also, when I contacted customer service to close the account, I declined to provide a reason -- which is our right as consumers to withdraw our permission to continue service at any time. We do not have to provide reasons and be engaged in conversation on how they could improve or maintain our business. However, the customer service agent refused to proceed and continued to try to force me to provide a reason.

I have been a paying customer for ********************** (under Newfold Digital) and have run customer-facing web applications reliant on PHP 7.4. My sites were functioning normally until your recent server upgrade, after which they went offline and remain broken.Despite your claims that PHP 7.4 was deprecated, you continued to offer it until this forced change. You gave no clear, targeted warning that you would perform a server migration that could break my stack. Support has admitted that the sites worked before your upgrade.Because of your actions:My customer sites have been down, causing significant loss of revenue.I have faced damage to my reputation and client trust.I am now scrambling to refactor code or find alternate hosting.I requested immediate reactivation of PHP 7.4 or full refund and compensation, but so far no acceptable resolution has been offered. This is not a minor bug its a business-critical failure caused by your infrastructure decision. Other customers should beware: your server upgrades may break your applications without warning.

I've tried to get a problem with their hosting service fixed, they said they did, it worked for a day, since then not. Their customer service doesn't know what it is doing, they provide NO email contact for customers, you can only chat with them on their site which is useless as they don't understand what you are even asking, even with screen shots and detailed explanations. Needless to say I will no longer be using them as my hosting company and it is beyond me as to why ********* still recommends them.

I used HostGator for [X months/years], and unfortunately, my experience was frustrating. My website experienced frequent downtime, sometimes lasting several hours, which hurt both traffic and business. Customer support responses were slow and often scripted, without truly resolving the issue. While their pricing seemed competitive at first, the renewal rates were much higher than expected. In the end, I decided to switch hosting providers, and I would not recommend HostGator to those needing reliable uptime or responsive support.

Bluehost told me that I would receive a free domain and that if I didnt do anything it would deactivate after a year. When it did not deactivate, and they charged me, I left a complaint here and they said they would escalate my issue. I never received any contact. I then started receiving emails that it would deactivate as it was approaching a year and yet again they charged me. Im complaining yet again! Im having to call my bank and let them know I have never authorized these transactions for a domain name that was a gift from bluehost. Its not even a domain name I would choose for my business!
