On 4/18/2022 Jiffy Lube performed an oil change on my vehicle. They incorrectly put in the vehicle conventional motor oil instead of the factory required full synthetic motor oil, which resulted in total mechanical engine failure in June 2022. The action has voided my warranty and left me with the significant cost of replacing the engine. My attorney and myself have gotten no response or action from the company. In addition, the service comments were inaccurate and untrue.Business Response

I have spoken with ****************** two times this morning regarding this complaint. After my first phone call with him this morning, I told him that I needed to due my due diligence before I could try to resolve this issue. This oil change was done on 4/18/2022, almost 1 year ago and this BBB complaint that I received on Saturday (4/1/2023) was the first time that we are hearing about an issue with this vehicle.
****************** stated to me that he is the owner of the vehicle but the customer information on the receipt is different. After reviewing the receipt, I noticed the following comments that were documented: (1) customer chose conventional oil (2) sludge prior to service (3) no oil prior to service.
Jiffy Lube has a Nationwide Pledge of Satisfaction and it clearly states:
1. Warranty is in effect for either 90 days or ***** miles from the date/mileage of the original invoice.
2. The limited service warranty extends only to the owner identified on the original invoice.
3. You should first return to or contact the Jiffy Lube Service Center that performed the original service on your vehicle as shown on the original Jiffy Lube invoice.
He told me that this vehicle has been to two different repair shops (dealership) and that the engine has been torn down and/or worked on.
Although ****************** claims that the comments on the receipt are incorrect, the fact is that the comments are documented on the invoice, we were not notified of any issues within 90 days and the warranty only covers the owner identified on the original invoice.
This case can be closed.

I am rejecting this response because:- There are several inaccuracies regarding their statement
- We have been trying to get the matter resolved since last year. However, we could not obtain the franchisee contact information via contacting Jiffy Lube corporate and at the store level. I contacted my previous attorney in August 2022 to take responsibility for moving the process forward.
- I am the registered owner of the vehicle and authorized my fianc, an authorized and insured user of the vehicle, to take the vehicle for an oil change.
- *********** used the incorrect oil and oil filter for the vehicle which caused the engine to fail. The vehicle's engine has not been "torn down" or disassembled. It has been evaluated by (2) ****** dealerships to diagnose the problem externally.
- As a customer, my fiance does not have the expertise or knowledge about the oil type or the vehicle to ask for anything different than what was recommended by the professional service technicians at Jiffy Lube and she did not ask to use an alterative oil or oil filter.
- Jiffy Lube did not follow the manufacturers' guidelines for the required oil for the vehicle.
- Jiffy Lube did not follow the manufacturers' guidelines for the required oil filter for the vehicle.
- As a customer we have no control over inaccurate information stated on the invoice, and in good faith would not think to check for inaccuracies.
I have acquired a new attorney in Palm Beach county, ******* to handle the issue. Since I was provided with the contact information for the franchisee on April 3, 2023, I will forward the information to him to resolve.
Sincerely,
*************************Business Response

On January 18th I took my **** ***** Camaro to jiffy lube for an oil change. After getting the car back, I noticed a ticking in the sound of the engine. As I drove the car rest of the day I noticed the ticking getting louder and the engine loosing power until, while I was driving home, there was a loud bang and the engine stalled. I had the car towed to mechanic who told me that the oil was overfilled by 2-3 quarts and that the engine was likely toast. I contacted the jiffy lube about the issue and they sent someone to inspect the vehicle while I was working, and they determined that they werent liable and offered only to refund the oil change which was around $90.Business Response

The event occurred April 9, 2022. I went to Jiffy Lube for a routine oil change. They claimed I had an oil leak in my engine and was charged an additional 150$ to fix and was also charged for cabin air filter cleaning and headlight cleaning. In total I was charged $435 for these services. I was not initially satisfied with the service or the price and tried to call that day to resolve the charges but was unsuccessful. I feel harassed and objectified by the employees in the station and felt pressured to buy these services. Since then I have decided to pay the charges but have now realized that I owe over the original amount in interest alone and am not willing to pay that much for unsatisfactory service. I have paid for the services I owe but with interest the total cost is now $1019.44. The sales reps have been unhelpful on the phone and unwilling to resolve any of these charges. The car they fixed has since been declared totaled due to engine issues in June of that same year and it is unclear if anything done by Jiffy Lube accounted for this engine failure or if it should have been addressed when the car was inspected.Business Response

On January 17th i took my vehicle to Jiffy Lube for a transmission oil change. After the procedure I drove the car home and parked it. They left a hose disconnected that went to the radiator causing it to leak out fluids and over heat the car and engine. They are not accepting responsibility and are saying that I am responsible for the repairs.Business Response

I have spoken with ******************. I told him that after speaking with him that I would do my due diligence and see what I could do to resolve this issue. Shortly after my phone conversation with him, I received an email from our customer ********************** support team. The email contained a denial letter dated 1/23/2023 and an inspection report submitted on 1/20/2023 by Accurate Mechanical Inspections.
Accurate Mechanical Inspections states that the transmission service that we performed had nothing to do with the cracked radiator that has caused the engine failure. Accurate states that the radiator failure appeared to be fairly long term.
As per the *** Market Manager and the Senior Manager for the *************** Market, we are denying this claim.

I spoke with ******************** and ************ (Store manager at ****). **** has requested that ******************** bring the vehicle back to the store and he will inspect the car. Typically, an oil change would not set off these sensors.

Took my car to this location for an oil change on 12/10/22 and paid $119.10. On 12/11/22 as I was pulling into my driveway the car said add engine oil, a loud pop happened and the engine started smoking. The car was towed to ******************** on 12/12/22 for a diagnostic which came back as too little oil was added and it didnt appear to be the right viscosity. I initially contacted the main number for Jiffy Lube on and they stated I would be contacted by someone local. The market manager ******* contacted me and I sent them the diagnosis results. ******* mentioned that he would send out a third party inspector. He also stated that he would review the footage. After reviewing the footage ******* did admit their techs did not put in enough oil (they put in 7 quarts instead of 9.5) because they didn't follow the recommendations for a Z51 model. The diagnosis from ***** reports they need to redo the oil change correctly, replace the coolant surge tank and hood insulator. Tow bill was also $125. I received a call from ***** on 12/16/22 stating that ******* spoke with them and has no intention of sending out an inspector or covering anything. The total repair needed is $928.15 plus cleaning costs for my driveway of $475. Total ofBusiness Response

When I change my oil at jiffy lube the previous time I was told synthetic oil was used the jiffy lube representative for this oil change told me that the previous time regular oil was used. One of the two lied. And this time I was charged $100 for an oil change. This was only presented to me after I had waited a long time. Requesting a refund for my previous oil change.Business Response

On July 25, 2022 I received an oil change from Jiffy Lube #**** and I paid with a credit card *****. On August 9, 2022 I was travelling and my engine seized. I had to have my vehicle towed by City Towing to *********************. Both located in *******. I was charged $224.00 for the towing and $343.00 for the garage bill.
