Don't work with Safe Ship Moving EMS (SSM) or CITA VAN LINES, They are liars and overcharge for incompetence and poor service in all respects. The reasons are as follows:1.The original quote to pack our household goods (HHG) and ship them to our new home in ********, ******* was developed with an extremely detailed phone call quote on May 9, 2025. This quote was for a total of $14,402 by ******* ********* of SSM and claimed to be very accurate given the detailed discussion.2.I sent a detailed email to *** describing all the household goods and offered to send photos if it would help SSM confirm any uncertainty in their quote. They did not reply.3.******* ********* made specific commitments about what we were to expect that *** would: 1. Coordinate all aspects of the move.2. Use a very professional and high quality moving company to pack and ship our HHG. They said that ************** was an excellent moving and trucking company and that *** had used them on multiple other moves and things were delivered on time and in the same condition as originally packed.3. Ensure all things will be carefully inventoried and the condition of items assessed and defined by the packers and agreed upon by me.4. Ensure that packing and loading was to be performed in one day and that day was to be June 16, 2025. I expressed concern about a one day packing and load and was told that ************** would send an adequately sized experienced crew with packing materials and a large enough truck.5. Arrange for our HHG to be shipped so that a prompt delivery of June 27, 2025 or shortly afterwards would be met. It was understood that the total transportation time was to be between 5 and 14 business days.6. Have their customer service staff available 24 hours per day, 7 days per week to provide any help needed should problems develop. This was described as always available.None of the above commitments were met and the move experience with these 2 comapnies just got worse.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because the reply is nothing more than the same misleading and untrue statements made to me over the phone by both Safe Ship Moving and CITA Van Lines. No further communication was ever made to address my complaint nor has there been any offer of any refund or discount. My summary is this is the same condescending comment I have already gotten that does not acknowledge any poor performance or misleading business practices that lead to my complaint.

I am rejecting this response because nothing has been done to address a refund or discount. This is just the same worthless response and doesn't address the property ruined or lost by the moving. When will a real response come with some effort to reconcile my losses due to lies, misrepresentation, lack of quality and all the things destroyed?

On 5/18/2025, I contracted Safe Ship Moving Services for a residential move. I submitted detailed info, including video of my belongings. The initial quote was too high, so I considered walking away. The *** then lowered the price, convincing me to proceed. This included packing, loading, and transporting items from ******** to *********What I wasnt told was that they reduced the cubic footage and excluded items to make the new quote seem lower a classic bait-and-switch. Total quote: $5,629.07. Before paying, I asked multiple times if packing was included. I had about 75% packed and needed help with the rest. He assured me it was.Just before the move (scheduled for 6/10/2025), a *** contacted me to "review" the item list again. They then claimed added items, said the price wouldnt cover the move, that packing wasn't included, and the cost would rise by thousands. I was told to sign a new contract, which I refused. I requested a ********* first, a *** apologized and said the situation was ridiculous and hed fix it. He came back with a reduced price but said Id need to pay immediately. I said I no longer trusted them and just wanted to cancel.Despite canceling and no services being performed, they kept my $5,629.07 deposit, calling the charges valid.Resolution Requested:Full refund of $5,629.07 Acknowledgment that the contract was mis***resented and cancellation was due to their own deceptive practices Why Im Reporting:This was a clear bait-and-switch tactic, followed by last-minute price hikes. *** found many similar complaints online. This is an unethical, deceptive business model that must be addressed.Business Response

THIS IS A SCAM!!!!!! RUN AWAY!!!! Safe Ship Moving Services used a filter company called "Move With A Pro" that offered us a low estimate to lure us in and then Safe Ship Moving Services called us only days (called today 7/26/25) before they were scheduled to pack us up (scheduled for 7/29-30/25) and they DOUBLED our estimate requiring us to pay ANOTHER high deposit to secure the move (total of $11,000 for deposit). We were in a bind since it is so close to our move, so my husband initially paid. My sister, who is a lawyer, was able to help us see this as the scam that it is. ****** moving scams and it will check all the boxes. Thankfully, we got out of the second deposit (there is a 3-day cancellation fee for this one)! Moving is stressful enough, so don't add being scammed out of thousands of dollars to your list. We walked away having only lost $5,000.00 and we count ourselves lucky! RUN AWAY!!!!!!Business Response

I called Safe Ship to help me with my move to *******. The sales person on the phone sold me that they would take care of me the whole way thru my move. They first quoted me for my move $9,934.00 then they called 2 days before the shipper arrived to go thru my items and I had 5 more boxes they charged me $803.28 for 5 more boxes. This is the small of the problem. AT NO TIME was i told the at my Belongings (MY WHOLE LIFE) on their truck would 7 weeks to get to me. I was sold on and told that my belongings would arrive 5-14 days after my items were picked up from my home which They picked them up on July 8th 2 days prior to the date I asked for so I had to spend 2 nights at a hotel on my dime before heading to *******. I have called 4 times to safe ship once with no response, once with a I dont have an answer to your questions and now today July 26th a gentleman told me I would not see my belongings (MY WHOLE LIFE) until August *****nd. Who in this entire world can move and not get their belongings for 6-7 weeks???? The gentleman who filled out my paperwork wrote so light that I cant see ANYTHING on my bill of Lading. This is HORRIFIC SERVICE!!! There is no follow thru from SAFE SHIP which they got Paid $4,076.24 on the job to do WHAT??? He has no pull on getting my stuff delivered to me any earlier all he kept saying is I am sorry its what happens with summer moves. Thats is pure BS!!! Trucks move things every day all day long in this country. I was never told it would be 30 days for the day I said i was available in *******. I WANT MY BELONGINGS DELIVERED IMMEDIATELY !!! I dont know of any moving companies that hold your belongings for this long. AT this point I have concerns about all my LIFE Belongings getting to my new home. MY RESOLUTION is as follows: I want them to do whatever they have to do to get my belongings to me IMMEDIATELY!!! When I called STANFORD VAN LINES directly who is the carrier they never answer their phones it hangs up on you.Business Response

Complaint: 23658243
I am rejecting this response because: Safe Ship has the responsibility of using reputable vendors to pick their customers items up from their home and getting it to their new home. If they themselves cannot reach a person at the business for which THEY hired to pick up their customers items (meaning Safe ship) then why are they using them. Safe Ship should not have any problem reaching the business they hired and should be given a call immediately and have an exact date for which a persons items will be picked up and delivered. There are other van lines that do this everyday and get their customers items to them in a timeframe agreed upon. Safe ship still says they are waiting to hear from Stanford Van lines about what day exactly my items will arrive. the date they are giving means that they (********) will have had my items for ***** days depending on which day they actually arrive. This is pure nonsense!! They are supposed to provide you with a booklet Your Rights and Responsibilities when you sign with them to understand your move I was NEVER given this let alone explained to me that my items would take almost 30 days to get and probably come damaged or missing altogether. Safe Ship is also false advertising themselves because they are NOT the number one shipper They DONT SHIP themselves and there are over 500 complaints against ************* and are still taking peoples money. This issue is they subcontract out to people to move their customers items and have NO control over them Whatsoever. ****************** is moving at their own pace and will get my stuff to me when they feel like it. THAT IS JUST WRONG.
Sincerely,
**** *****Business Response

I contacted this company in MAY for a July move, but decided not to use them due to extremely poor customer service. They were ONLY interested in selling me a service, rather than listening to what I was requesting. After calling them back to convey that I was no longer interested, I started receiving the attached text message EVERY DAY! Safe Ship moving broker has lacked transparency and provided misinformation from the very first phone call and still has not delivered my belongings. It has been a total of 34 days since Cobra Vanlines moving company took my belongings, and 20 days since my first date of available delivery - all coordinated by Safe Ship moving broker. The Safe Ship logistics coordinator scheduled my first available delivery date for Friday, July 4th never acknowledging that the holiday might impact these plans or that it was unlikely the moving company would even operate on that day. I contacted customer service on July 3rd and was assured that delivery would happen on July 4th. Relying on this information, I moved to *******, only to discover that the moving company was not even operating on July 4th and my belongings had never left the ********************************* representatives completely omit the fact that delivery could be delayed up to 30 business days when coercing customers over the phone into booking with them. They hide this fact down in the fine print of a barrage of documents and hold it against you once the movers have your belongings and they've started collecting over $5,000 in moving costs. Safe Ship promotes a stress-free moving experience, but I have unfortunately experienced the opposite. I've spent hours calling customer service because they never call back. On July 10th a Safe Ship representative told me my items would be loaded at the beginning of next week. Another told me delivery was anticipated July *****th. Today is July 24th and my belongings are still not here and no one at Safe Ship or Cobra Vanlines can even tell me where my belongings are. I've never been able to make an informed decision because this company has kept me misinformed the entire time. The lack of accurate information, profound delays, and inconsistent communication is abysmal. I will never use or recommend either of these companies to anyone.Business Response
Date: 07/25/2025
We understand how upsetting extended delays and lack of clear communication can be, especially during a major life event like a move. The delivery windowup to 30 business daysis included in the written agreements and Bill of Lading, but we recognize that during the stress of planning a relocation, it may not always receive the attention it deserves. This timeframe is in place to accommodate long-distance travel regulations, scheduling logistics, and other industry-wide factors. We acknowledge that the coordination around your requested delivery date could have been handled with more care, especially given the timing, and we are actively reviewing internal processes to ensure better planning in the future. Your concerns about inconsistent updates are valid, and the lack of responsiveness is being addressed with our logistics team to ensure this doesnt continue happening to others. We are actively working to get you your delivery and will contact you as there is an update.Customer Answer

********* has proposed no solutions! They continue to abrogate their responsibility.
Thank you for your acknowledgment of the catastrophic damages arising from the contracted transport of my tools, equipment, and household goods. For the record, there exists only one binding contract governing this transaction: my written agreement with Safe Ship Moving Services (Safe Ship). I did not contract with, *********, or consent to any other moving or transportation provider. Safe Ship was and remains the sole party with whom I entrusted the transportation of my property from *******, ***** to **********, *******
Whether Safe Ship elected to subcontract performance to other carriers was a unilateral business decision made by Safe Ship. At no time was I afforded an opportunity to review, approve, or negotiate the use of such subcontractors. Safe Ship independently selected Anapa Moving and Gold Star Moving without my knowledge or consent. Accordingly, Safe Ship remains the responsible contractual party for all losses, damages, and failures in performance. See, e.g., 49 U.S.C. 13907(a) (motor carriers remain liable for acts of agents and contractors).
Despite repeated assurances that Safe Ship was working with me to resolve the matter, no meaningful resolution has been offered. Instead, I was improperly directed to submit a claim through ********************************, which resulted in a nominal and wholly inadequate offer: an initial $75 and a final offer of $125 against documented damages in excess of $35,000. These damages include:
Negligent handling and destruction of professional tools and equipment;
Loss and theft of personal property;
Delivery of property belonging to another customer.
That claim process is now closed without resolution and does not discharge Safe Ships contractual liability.
I have filed a complaint with the ******************************************* (*****), which is under investigation. Meanwhile, I remain without the vast majority of my professional equipment and personal property. I relocated with the intention of using my custom woodworking tools to complete renovations in my residence; instead, due to Safe Ships negligence, I have been forced to purchase replacements, outsource services, and sustain significant delays and financial loss.
Additionally, I have placed elected officials, regulatory authorities, and military leadership on notice of my experience. ********* advertises itself as veteran owned and operated and markets aggressively to military families. That representation carries heightened ethical and professional obligations, obligations which, in my view, Safe Ship has failed to meet. I intend to continue raising awareness of this conduct within appropriate oversight channels, including military command structures on every US military installation, to protect service members and their families from similar harm.
To be absolutely clear:
My only contract is with Safe Ship Moving Services.
Any subcontracting arrangements were solely between Safe Ship and its chosen carriers, not with me.
Safe Ship remains fully liable for all losses, damages, and breaches arising under our contract.
I will continue to pursue all remedies available under law and equity against Safe Ship Moving Services and its agents. However, contractual liability lies squarely and exclusively with ************************************start="3793" data-end="3796">****** F. *******Customer Answer

Portrayed themselves as a moving company when theyre actually a broker. I was not informed that they were a broker, and they took $6730.70 to book my move. All the while, they pretended that my payments were being applied to my moving expenses. When I confronted them, they begged me not to file a complaint with the *** INTERNET ***************** I agreed to wait until the move was complete. I attempted to contact the company, but the phone number, name, and email addresses were all false. I have disputed the charges on my credit card. I believe this company is operating using deceptive practices. They are not listed in the Chamber of Commerce business directory for ********** or *************, their business addresses. They are not accredited by the BBB. NONE OF THE MONIES I PAID TO THEM WENT TO THE ACTUAL MOVING COMPANY! Id appreciate whatever assistance you could provide.Business Response

Thank you for sharing your concerns. We acknowledge your experience and the deep frustration you've expressed. I apologized for any inconvenience caused during this transitional time in your life. We understand how important transparency and trust are, especially when dealing with something as personal as a long-distance move While pricing can change based on the scope of the move, there are some other factors that can cause change in pricing per say, if more space is needed. I apologized once again if the process left you feeling unsupported We always aim to make our clients feel informed and cared for through this process, . Your feedback is being taken seriously and will be reviewed.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because: ************* Safe Ship moving, is not Transparent; when I was told $1200 to ship my car with a $500 down payment that wasnt true. They charged me $520 to make the appointment with the car transportation service. The true service cost was $700.
I was charged $200 for bubble wrap that WAS NOT USED! I was told that having things stretch wrapped would cost extra, which wasnt true. They even said an armchair was a loveseat, why the cost of the move is based on cubic feet a loveseat takes up more space than an armchair, so more lies more money
My first moving quote was $2700. I actually got rid of furniture and possessions after that and then they charge me another $3700 by then it was June. I had already sold my condo I had to leave I was stuck between a rock and a hard place so I tried to work it out when I learned what they were doing. I confronted them and told them I was gonna report them to the *** Internet fraud department. I was called and begged not to do so, but Due to more deception I have also filed complaints with The Attorney General of Florida, the Florida department for professional regulations, just to mention a few.
NONE OF THE MONIES PAID TO SAFE SHIP MOVING, WENT TO THE ACTUAL ENCORE MOVING SERVICES THE COMPANY THAT ACTUALLY PERFORMED THE MOVE!

We do apologize that you feel that way. All information regarding our role, pricing, and payment structure was clearly outlined in the paperwork, verification call, and compliance scripts. As stated in the documents, the charges collected were for coordinating services, not for performing the move directly. We understand youve already sought legal action and escalated the matter further. Please let us know how youd like to proceed, as were willing to comply and work toward a possible resolution.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because: Safe Ship is lying. I was told repeatedly that my payments were for my move. I was NEVER told that SAFE SHIP was only brokering my move. *** No one would EVER agree to pay an extra $7K, to broker their move!If SAFE SHIP is so honest, why was I begged to not file a complaint with the *** INTERNET FRAUD department?

I reject the BBB response. BBB just rolled over and played dead, acquiescing to Safe Ships false claims. Shame on you BBB!
