Stay away, this company is fraudulent and will not complete the move. Quoted us 3 x the cost just the week prior to the move and had to cancel. Literally went from $6800 in February to $24,000 in June. This company is the worst of the worst scum of the earth's, stay away as the contract price will triple just days prior to the move.Business Response

Im a veteran who hired Safe Ship Moving Services after receiving a quote from **** ******. I sent him photos on April 8 clearly showing a full garage, kitchen, and items like a riding lawnmower. After I mentioned on the phone that I had a better offer, he dropped the quote from nearly $8,000 to $3,828. He said I was a veteran which helped lower the costs. On May 25 (Sunday, 5 PM), just 4 days before pickup, ***** ****** called to go over quality assurance and sent me a link for a video walk-through. I completed the full house video with *****. He said I hadnt disclosed certain items and raised the price by thousands. I immediately sent him screenshots showing I had disclosed everything to ****. He admitted the items were clearly visible and apologized, claiming hed yelled at his staff on my behalf but couldn't match my original price. I agreed out of protest due to having only 4 days to terminate my lease and finding a new company that would charge even more for a last minute move.On May 29, movers showed up, amazed at how much stuff I had (despite doing a full walkthrough), and kept laughing about my box count going up. They eventually said the truck was too small and offloaded of my things. I was forced to pay $3,520.15 upfront via **** money orders only. I was told not to use bank or ******* money orders. The final price reached $6,864.92.We had no update on delivery until June 4 at night. Delivery happened June 5. My wife had to take off again from work because I was at work out of town. Worst of all, items that caused the price hikeoutdoor chairs, end tables, plantswere never loaded and had to be given away. I have photo evidence of this entire experience and will provide if needed. This was a classic bait and switch. I was targeted as a veteran, pressured under extreme time constraints, and deceived repeatedly. If this isnt resolved, I will escalate to the *****, DOT, state attorneys general, and *** to seek sanctions and blacklisting.Business Response

I received a call from a person named ******* At first, the amount she offered for all my issues were extremely low, but then came back and stated that she got a higher amount from Safe Ship and an amount from All State Moving. She also stated that All State would reimburse me for my TV, which is something they normally don't do if I settle. Afterwards, I received the payment from ******** refunded to my account and was told to contact ****** if I had not received payment from All State (which we agreed that we would use ****** as the single POC for both parties). I contacted All State to get reimbursed for a large 75' TV that was broken. However, when I read over the paperwork, it said All State was not responsible for broken items and that I must submit pictures and file paperwork through SNAILMAIL and any minor discrepancy would be void. Instead of going through the hassle, I awaited payment by All State which was supposed to be returned in form of check through mail. I have yet to receive any payment from ********* which has now been a month since all of this happened. Also, whatever number ****** told me to call her at does not work at all. There is no way to contact her. I have only received $1000 payment after an agreed amount of $2000 and absolutely no way to have my TV replaced, which surpasses the $2000 payment that was originally offered as compensation. I orginally had an offer for $4000 for this in-state move, got suckered in by Safe Ship and got a price lower than this, that dramatically increased four days before pickup and then again at pickup with a total amount near $9000. So in all, I paid an additional $5000 more than what I could have got the move for as well as losing out on a $2500 TV that I am sure if I did claim, would be denied due to the statement on the claims paperwork.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because I keep getting the same thing: "we will reach out to All State and someone will be in touch with you. We will update you afterwards". Nothing ever happens. Safe Ship absolutely mislead me, deceived me, and manipulated me into accepting their business after I had much lower estimates from other companies, only to dramatically increase the price on me. This whole ordeal has been an absolute nightmare from the very beginning. I made the effort to accept an offer for the misleading tactics, false advertising, bait-and-switch, and suspicious practices such as only accepting payment by money order from a post office, (I was told to absolutely not get a money order from a bank which I assume was so I could not dispute the charges) but that offer has yet to be made. I have yet to receive payment that ********* sought on my behalf from All State as well as a $2500 TV that will not be replaced. I hold Safe Ship accountable for the whole ordeal and will file with the appropriate agencies.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because: Your generic, templated response does not even begin to address the severity of the situation. This isnt about noting feedback. This is about being deceived, financially exploited, and forced into a corner after you deliberately waited until my refund window had closed to increase my price.
Let me reiterate Im not looking for a discussion. I am demanding a full refund of $13,000, which covers:
The full moving costs I was baited into paying after multiple staged price hikes
The replacement value of my damaged television
And the items that were never loaded but were used to inflate your quote
I have already submitted the original and final Bills of Lading, including:
The first estimate: $3,828.42
The May 25 estimate: $5,942.02
The final amount forced on me: $8,478.28
Paid in **** money orders only a cash-equivalent tactic that raises serious concerns
You had a full video walkthrough. The truck was undersized. Items that caused the price hike were left behind. And when I tried to request a refund, your system was designed to trap me just like the 580+ complaints already posted to the BBB.
Ive already begun filing with:
The FMCSA
DOT
FTC
CFPB
IRS
****
DoD Inspector General
U.S. Senate and House Veterans Affairs Committees
Offices of ***** *********
State attorneys general and governors of *******, *******, and **********
This isnt a misunderstanding. Its a pattern one Im making sure every oversight and enforcement body sees for what it is: predatory behavior, targeting veterans under duress.
I will not communicate by phone. All correspondence must remain in writing.Customer Answer

Although this case is marked closed, I am submitting this final clarification to ensure the public understands the full scope of what occurred. Safe Ship Moving Services intentionally baited me with a lowball quote, pressured me with price hikes days before my scheduled move, then brokered me out to a subcontractor who demanded non-traceable **** money orders. The truck they sent was too small, forcing me to leave behind items some of which had been used to justify their inflated quote. My TV was also damaged. I submitted full documentation and am demanding a full refund of $13,000. Safe Ship is already the subject of over 580 BBB complaints, not including dozens of reports across ******** groups, Reddit, and ******* many describing this exact same playbook. I am actively escalating to the *****, DOT, FTC, ***, ****, the DoD Inspector General, and the U.S. Senate/House Veterans Affairs Committees. I will continue sharing my experience publicly to prevent others from being targeted especially veterans like myself. ******* is how companies like this survive. Not anymore.
DISCLAIMER:
Given that Safe Ship Moving Services has amassed over 580 complaints with the BBB many of them describing nearly identical bait-and-switch tactics it is deeply concerning that this case is considered "closed" simply because the business responded, without addressing or correcting the actual harm done. This process feels scripted, as if the business knows in advance that submitting a generic, noncommittal message will satisfy BBB procedure. If so, that raises serious questions about the effectiveness and impartiality of the BBB in protecting consumers from systemic abuse. I will be submitting this entire experience including the BBBs closure response to government agencies and public officials for further review.Initial Complaint

On March 28, 2025 the bait-and-switch began. I inquired about using Safe Ship services and was eventually led through the estimate process. I indicated that we had a 3 bedroom home and a shop that housed lots and lots of tools. ******** was entering his idea of what our volume amounted to but only asked specific information about furniture -- nothing else. I was given an estimate of a bit more than $10,000. I agreed to that estimate since ******** went on at length about their expertise in giving fair and accurate estimates. I was also told about storage options and was quoted about $540 per month. Days before moving, we were asked to send our packing list. We went box by box and sent a detailed spreadsheet. Then came the sticker shock -- oh, sorry. Your estimate is now $25,000!!! We can maybe take off $1,000 but that's it. I was stunned and angry. They blamed me because I didn't give them this sort of detail when I called in March. What even is an estimate, other than a bogus Too-Good-To-Be-True hook to get money at the Gotcha moment a day before loading? (June 6th, 2025). I demanded to speak to the ***************** people -- *****, the representative said they would contact me but never did. The ** gal blamed me for signing their bogus estimate and claimed it was my fault for not telling them about what we had. I explained that I did but was never questioned about it. In fact, their computer system doesn't have fields for anything other than a box or a bin or a piece of furniture. I questioned why their estimators simply checked a few boxes instead of actually asking to clarify what's being moved. They refused to admit anything and refused to do anything. I was stuck the day before my move, trying to find the extra $15,000 I needed to get my items loaded and transported. The actual movers were amazing. Safe Ship however, did not earn whatever money they took.Business Response

Thank you for sharing your experience. The estimates are intended as a starting point and are subject to change if the final inventory or space requirements differ from the initial information. While we regret that the change in estimate caused difficulty, we are glad to hear that your assigned moving team delivered excellent service. I am rejecting this response because:
This was this was a misleading marketing scam. The language "starting point" was never used. The estimator stressed how accurate the figures were and confirmed that it could go up or down a little bit but not by a lot. I expressed concern about last-minute Gotcha's but was reassured it wouldn't happen. Since I've never used a broker before, I trusted what I was told. Even the agent who contacted me a couple days before the move for a loading list was shocked by the gross discrepancy and that my quote had gone up by 150%. I was told ** would reach out and thry never did. I want a partial refund of $7,000.

Payment dates: 05/13/2024 $1710.99 05/23/2024 $1115.85 06/02/2024 $1690 I contracted with SafeShipMoving for a long-distance move. From the beginning, the company engaged in deceptive pricing practices that resulted in my final bill being almost twice as high as the original estimate.I initially received a written estimate, but shortly after, a representative called and increased the price. He assured me that as long as my items fit in the truck, I wouldnt have to pay extra. However, when the movers arrived to pick up my belongings, the price increased again. Upon delivery, I was told I had to pay an additional $1,000 or I would not receive my items. I was put under significant pressure to pay this unexpected ********** specific example: I informed the broker in advance that my destination involved stairs, and he assured me the stair fee would be included in my estimate. However, when the movers arrived, they said the stair fee was not included and charged me again. When I contacted SafeShipMoving, they said the fee was never added to my estimate and I would have to pay itdespite being told otherwise on the phone. This is a clear case of ******************** make matters worse, the movers brought in untrained individuals from off the street to carry my belongings, raising serious concerns about safety and handling. Please note: The move occurred on June 2, 2024, just slightly over 12 months ago. I am submitting this complaint now because I only recently became aware of the process and options for formally reporting this type of misconduct.I am seeking a refund of the unfair additional charges and a formal acknowledgment of the companys deceptive business practices.Business Response

SafeShip Moving as the broker, scheduled my move on 2/25/25 with Infinity Moving *************. I vetted SafeShip I did not vet Infinity that was the duty of SafeShip. Any person would have easily found Infinity to not be a reputable moving company. I paid SafeShip and Infinity $21,215.20 each receiving 1/2. Infinity was to professionally pack my items. They damaged 69 pieces and their insurance is pending termination as of today. According to many posts on the internet Infinity holds goods hostage, damages goods, does not pay damage claims and a whole host of criminal behaviors are attributable to Infinity. I have filed complaints on both companies with the ***. Unfortunately, it can take up to a year for them to respond. I have received in writing from Infinity an apology and promise to pay me $3073 for packing and $267.09 for shipping costs I paid to return a dresser to **. Additionally, they were to pay my damages claim. They have not paid on this agreement nor paid on my damages claim.I wrote to Mr. ****** the President of ******** requesting financial assistance for my damages due to their obligation to vet Infinity, that ******** had neglected to pursue any type of due diligence to determine if ******** was a reputable company. The failure on the part of ******** has resulted in financial losses to me close to $10,000. Had SafeShip done their job I would not be in this situation. SafeShip is very aware of the amount that Integrity has paid me. Its in their written documentation in my file. $500 towards the non-professional packing SafeShip arranged isnt $3073. Add to that $267.09 shipping charges I paid to ship a dresser back to ** they brought that was not marked to bring. Then there are the damage claims that havent been addressed. This ads up to close to $10,000. This was all agreed to in writing and ******** has it in their documentation. Mr ****** the CEO of ******** has this all documented also. So to say I have been paidLOL is $500 making me whole when I am owed $10,000? ******** has had MANY complaints filed against them according to the *****. I spoke with the ***** and was very surprised to hear from one of their agents about this. Evidently the best place to check Moving Broker records is on their web site at *******************. A normal person would not be aware of this web site and its affiliation with the DOT. It was also a shock to hear it takes almost a year form them to investigate a complaint. Meanwhile customers are ripped off by brokers claiming they vet companies, then schedule a move with known criminals once they have their money.I paid $21,215.20 cash for this move. They all had to have their money before they would deliver my furniture. SafeShip had to have all of their money prior to pickup.
No one from ******** has called me. Their response is false.$500 doesnt begin to pay me the $10,000 I am owed due to the negligence on the part of SafeShip.Customer Answer

We chose to use this company due to their advertisement of a veteran owned and veteran ran company. We let them know this would be a military move and they were very responsive at first. As we went through the process the day before they were supposed to pick up my things the quote more than doubled from when I put the down payment to when they were doing an item overview. After the items were picked up I drove from ************ to ********** and waited for my property. The moving company that they used and recommended to us weren't responding to us about my furniture whereabouts and how long until they would arrive. I was told 3-5 days and then 5 days later I called and was told another 3-5 ******* husband and I wanted to file a complaint and that was when we started running into more issues with the company. They would make false promises of someone responding to us. They would say that they would have someone call us back. They would hang up on us. We were told that there would be some resolution that never came.We told them that we wanted some help and a refund due to us not receiving the services that we had paid for and they have yet to give us a response or an apology.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because: we have heard this response on multiple occasions for the past three months. It has been constant apologies with "someone will be reaching out to you" followed by radio silence. Moving across the country was extremely stressful within itself but this has added a significant amount of stress and it does not feel like anyone cares to resolve it from Safe Ship. It seems like something that we have continuously heard will be resolved yet feels brushed off. I was disrespected by both companies, my property damaged, and ignored. Forgive me but I have a hard time believing that this will be the time I hear back from anyone.

Used Safe Ship moving services and picked up my house hold furnishings on 5-27-2025. Sent Rigos Moving and Delivery Services to pick up my stuff. Contacted me 4 days prior to move date to do a final inventory check and informed me that I would have to pay an additional $5,700 to move and was the same exact inventory as the initial quote. I told them I would not pay anything additional and I had to have a family member drive from ******** to ***** to help me with a Uhaul so I would not have to pay extra. ***** arrived on 5-27 to pack and load my belongings and told me that my belongings would arrive in 5-7 business days. After calling on 5-30-2025 to get an estimated arrival of our belongings Safe ship said it could take up to 21 business days. I've spoke with 5 different people and everyone's explanations of delivery are different time frames. One person told me my belongings were in storage in a warehouse and would not tell me where or have a time frame of when it would be delivered. I've sat on hold for 7 hours today 6-5-2025 with safe ship moving services and cannot get through with a customer service representative. They answer and put me back on hold. They will not reach back out to me and have left several voicemails. They say they are Veteran owned and operated and this is not how you treat a veteran let alone anyone. They say they are the number 1 moving service which is not true. They are not accredited through the BBB due to poor ratings. The original Cost of the move was $8700 and wanted me to pay over $14,000 4 days before. This is the most unprofessional company I've ever dealt with and will never be using again.Business Response

Our initial Deposit was ******* in February 2025.On May ******* we had to pay another $500 before the movers came out not sure what that was for however the money was paid! At that time safe ship asked what day did we want our furniture and we informed them on May ******* we would like our furniture delivered! On May ******* the moving company came and picked up our furniture and my husband paid 1650 cash on that day to the company! We arrived in our home on May ******* and found out from safe ship that day that our delivery for our furniture didn't start until that day! We were not told that in the beginning all they did was talk about the money nothing else! So we have been without our furniture and personal belongings for 8 days safe ship has cost us money because we literally had nothing on June 5th our furniture was delivered and we paid another 1638 to the moving company! What we have found out is that safe ship was a broker and we were led to believe that they were moving our furniture the other companies involved were not part of this! I hold safe ship totally responsibleBusiness Response

I am rejecting this response because: I was not aware they were broker. I was aware I was hiring a mover. In no form shape or verbal confirmation was that we're going to charge you to be in contact with the Mover and was obviously bait and switch if that was the case I would have hired laborers to load and unload a pack rat container. We Paid for a moving company. Not a company to find us a moving company I would have saved myself the $8,000 like I said previously I hired a moving company and that is merely what I was told when I booked it and to try and contact them before they even came you could not get a hold of anybody to cancel when the movers called and gave me a doubled bill from $8,000 to ******. And again safe ship never called us and you could not get a hold of anybody they kept changing and rewriting your phone calls giving you numbers to contacts that were not even valid phone numbers that were not valid hold times that were over 3 hours long
Sincerely,

I would like to inform the Better Business Bureau that they told me they would get better customer service response and hold Representatives accountable and we worked on a solution for solving this issue so they did reach out several times and had extensive conversations and promised that they were better their services especially in the customer service shortfall it will be sending me a refund for things that were not picked up which is satisfying better than nothing I guess at least they're willing to fix their customer service hopefully soon rather than later
