I have been a customer with them a few years this past 3 months I have had to call them at least 10 times about my account and nothing is resolved each time I am given a different answer and told it’s fixed only to again have another problem today they attempted to take money out of my account that was not on my scheduled due date so my bank didn’t authorize it as a result I have been charged a fee in which I shouldn’t have been charged. I attempted to call them only to be met with an automated message saying they are closed for a meeting at. So now I have to schedule time again to call them and figure out why they attempted to take a payment out after I was told previously I did not need to make one. It should not be this difficult to make payments or this much confusion when I am actually being responsive they are just not clearly communicating in their system.

An agent called most recently to try to collect even more than the $1500/month payment I am already obligated to. She then mocked me for not being able to pay more. Whatever you do, STAY AWAY. This company is so much worse than “predatory”.

I have asked them in writing 4x to stop contacting me and stop mailing me. They continue to send out their junk. I get about 2 letters a week. It seems they have doubled down in sending out junk mail to me even though I have asked to be removed and have also registered with the National Do Not Mail List, along with refusing the mail, and other lists and notified them of this. Very disrespectful, pushy, forceful and spammy company. I would never want to do business with a company like this. Not to mention are in such a big hurry to put people in debt. "Sallie Mae has a reputation for being aggressive and persistent in its loan collection practices, which some people perceive as pushy. This is often due to the nature of their loans and how they operate, especially when compared to federal student loans." A basic search of this company will show how many people are "having their lives ruined" and "never use Sallie Mae" If they want to continue to spam me with junk mail, email and phone calls I will gladly take the time to put my review so that hopefully others can see and review and avoid such tragedy.

If I could go back in time to tell 18 year-old me to steer clear of Salliemae, I truly would have. A poor excuse for a student loan agency that has absolutely ZERO regard for the people paying loans to them. All of their repayment “assistance” options are absolutely a joke and completely worthless. All of them are set to keep you paying for the rest of your life because of how unreasonable they are. They do not care. To the young college students who may be reading this, please know that there are better options for you. Please do not fall into this trap. You are levels above the scam that is this terrible company. Shame on you, Salliemae.

do not borrow from this company, when it’s time to make payments they will NOT work with you to lower the payments. The interest rate is ridiculous high and so are the monthly payments

I just filed for bankruptcy and my loans weren't discharged as expected.

According to their website once the automatic stay ends online access and everything else will resume. "If the student loan isn’t discharged, servicing, collection efforts, online access, and all communications will resume."

Not only did this not happen but when I made a payment over the phone I got a letter two weeks later saying they returned my payments because they couldn't find the account. The letters literally had the account numbers on them.
Now I have a past due notice because they reversed my payment
I've been trying to call for a week and Everytime I do they say they're closed despite the hours listed on their website. I honestly feel like they're trying to ruin my life now that I've finally got myself back on track

Sallie Mae is aggressive and not customer friendly. When repayment time was 6 months out they started sending emails and letters every 2 weeks to lender AND COSIGNER. Their online payment is tricky to where you think you're making a payment, but it doesn't go through. Customer service is awful and unhelpful. Especially Tyannah who was trying to end the chat prematurely and without help.

Avoid this company at all costs I explained to them that I was in an accident and I was disabled and not able to work. As a result I could not afford to pay $250 per month. They said they could not do anything for me and to make sure I have my money in my account every month for them.

Sallie Mae is a joke of a company. Was finally able to get out from their insane (targeted) interest rates, which ended up being an overpayment. I have been trying for 2 MONTHS to get MY money back from this company. They have taken my banking information (only to not use it) and have changed my address (incorrectly) 4 times. Unbelievable experience and cannot believe they are able to operate.
