I just checked my credit report through Experian on 12/16/2022, and found a fraudulent debt being reported by Jefferson ******* Systems. This was the first time I had ever heard of the matter. I filed a dispute with Experian on that same day. This collection agency has accused me of owing $1433.45 to ******** I have never in my life had a ******* account. After research I have found many others with the exact same story of fraudulent claims about debt they know nothing about. Many seem to also be linked to a mysterious ******* account. Trying to collect fraudulent debt, based on stolen identity, is a serious matter.Business Response

I called Jefferson Capital about a debt I was not aware of. They say is from 2011. I made it clear to the guy on the phone I am on a fixed monthly income as I have a learning disability. And can not do the whole amount up front because I'm on a payment plan with a different debtor to pay something else off and I have a process. I told them I could do 40 dollar payments after he said they could do 30 starting December 31st. I tried asking for a reasonable accomodation to be able to pay at the beginning of every month starting in January and he told me 30 is too low after he said it was good! I told him I had said 40 not 30 and I asked if they would honor the discount he said he could work out some deal of 600 something etc when the notice said 512. if I made a few payments on time starting the 31st of december. He continued to try to argue nonsense when I tried agreeing to a HIGHER amount than what he suggested but on a later date. He said his supervisor wouldn't take low payments. And then tried getting telling me to get money else where that I don't have and was very demanding. My notice says to respond by 1/03/23 it is Dec 17th. The letter came yesterday Dec 16th but the notice is dated november 30th. That's over 2 weeks. I called diligently. And thought we had an agreement until you were shady.Business Response

I received a notice that I have a collection from JEFFERSON CAPITAL SYSTEM on my credit report. It says it was opened on Oct 27, 2020 for $2,403 with account number starting in XXXXX that I am not aware of nor am I responsible for. I never went into business with this company or signed any agreements with them so they should not be reporting anything on my credit. This company contacted me a year ago claiming I owe money through PayPal. They refuse to provide any evidence or documentation. The money they said i owe I NEVER had made ANY transaction of.I requested to file a dispute and fraud. They said would do so yet did not. In fact what they did was transfer this bogus scam claim to extort money from me to another company. Both companies continue harrassment after I have told them I want to file a dispute and fraud.I spent a considerable amount of time talking to PayPal directly. They show NO account was ever in my name at that time, that no transaction ever took place and that if any had it was fraud.This scammer company needs to stop harrassment and identify theft of my information that I never provided.Business Response
