  We got a demand notice from Jefferson Capital yesterday. We are on social security, do not own any real estate, live from month to month, go to food banks. Our social security cannot be levied or garnished, and is not subject to any legal processes.

  I am writing this review to express my severe dissatisfaction with Jefferson Capital Systems' debt collection and credit reporting practices.Jefferson Capital Systems reported a collection account on my credit report originating from ************* Their reporting contributed to negative marks on my credit file.Crucially, in an official response from Jefferson Capital Systems dated July 16, 2025, they stated that they were terminating collection efforts and would request deletion of their tradeline for 'an *********** debt'. Their response explicitly referred to themselves as acting as a third-party debt collector, not as the owner or purchaser of the debt.This directly contradicts how the original creditor, Oportun, had reported the debt (e.g., on Experian) as being 'Sold To: JEFFERSON CAPITAL'.Jefferson Capital's own admission clarifies that they do not own this debt, yet their reporting led to negative marks on my credit. This inconsistency regarding debt ownership is highly misleading and demonstrates questionable reporting practices. Consumers should be aware of such contradictory information being furnished.

  Jefferson Capital ************* is buying debt from companies, then trying to defraud consumers by claiming that theyre the creditor, they placed it on consumers credit report as a means of coercion to pay. They have no means of validation the debt that they claim you owe them,but will try to coerce consumers into paying, for them to take off your credit

  I have called this company three times today, July 15th, 2025, trying to resolve and investigate why it was on my credit report and for what exactly it was for. The first *** told me he couldn't access my report without me paying one dollar, yet he knew my Social Security number, birthdate, name, and address. Then I asked him why he couldn't see my report. It should be right in front of him if he wants me to resolve this issue and pay for it; then he should be able to tell me what it's for. I said it felt like a scam. He then replied with an inappropriate comment, saying no, ma'am, that would only be if I were speaking in a different language to you.

  Jeffersons Capitol Systems LLC has been harassing me for atleast 6 or 7 years, looking for someone named ******. I am not ****** and have had my phone # for 20 years. I tell them I am NOT ****** and they apologize and say they will remove my number but never do, this is harassment and will be taking to an attorney.

  What a joke of a company. I dont know how a court system would work with these idiots. You cant talk to anyone who can actually help you. They have no idea how much you still owe. Just right to court to garnish pay checks.

  I am currently experiencing wage garnishment initiated by Jefferson Capital Systems without receiving any meaningful notice, prior communication, or opportunity to resolve the alleged debt before legal action was taken. I was blindsided by a garnishment notice from my employer with no warning from Jefferson Capital themselves. I had previously attempted to make arrangements, but they did not offer or communicate any fair payment options.Their process has caused extreme financial hardship, particularly as I am ********** and supporting a disabled dependent as head of household. I believe their conduct reflects predatory and unethical debt collection practices that violate consumer rights.An A+ rating for upending lives without proper notice or compassion doesnt seem right. Im submitting this complaint to warn others and urge the BBB to reassess this companys standing based on how they actually treat vulnerable consumers. I sincerely urge the BBB to evaluate their practices and hold them accountable for their lack of transparency and consumer consideration.

  This company is a scam. I wish I had an option to upload proof of their activities. They will update your credit date with false dates, making it appear new. I have disputed a collection that isn't mine for YEARS, and they will decline the dispute and update the collection date. This is an awful company. I will be moving forward with suing them.

  this company has been a nightmare to my life. i have made several attempts to resolve this matter, this company took me to court the matter has been resolved in my favor. and jefferson capital refuse to remove it from my credit report, although they have the affidavit from the court. about 3 months ago every time you call you are put on hold for an hour or more. this has caused me great anxiety and depression. and it not resolved
