1 starI switched to Farmers *********** insurance then within 2 weeks cancelled it. Several months later, I received a bill for just under $300. I checked with my agent. He said once I cancelled, He could no longer assist me and advised me to call ******** Service. I called them and was told it was a fee the *********** charged when you cancel before the term is up. This is NOT true. After months have gone by, I finally spoke with someone in ******** Service. This time, I was told it was a Farmers' policy, not the ***********. Then I was told by a supervisor that it was both a penalty and prorated amount for the 2 weeks I had the policy. Nowhere in my paperwork or in the emails am I informed there is a cancellation fee or the amount. The first ******** Service person I spoke with said there is nothing she could do. Then I asked to be transferred to a supervisor. She told me the same thing. Then she said she would go back and double check all my paperwork and call me back. They have already sent it to collections.Farmers Insurance

1 starAwful experience with ******** service. Days of disputing a charge made to my account that was not authorized as the account should have been closed 6 months prior. They said they would issue the refund, but that it would take 8 days the issue the check and they wouldn't overnight it. So I am out $2400 because of their error and they can't spend $20 to overnight the correction. ABSOLUTELY AWFUL EXPEREINCE.Farmers Insurance

It is always our intention to provide an excellent experience for our customers and we are sorry that this ********'s expectations were not met. Our review found that payments were applying to an in-force policy with us. We were not notified timely of duplicate coverage for this ******** and were not aware that a policy cancelation should've been processed. Explanation has been provided to the insured regarding our refund guidelines. We encourage the ******** to contact the company directly at X-XXX-XXX-XXXX should further assistance be needed.
Thank you for your business.

1 starMy moms house got hit by a fallen tree. Destroyed the Southside, including 2 bedrooms, and roof. Adjuster came out and stated the damaged at $35,000. The contractors who came out atleast 3 all stated that was way to low. All estimates were closer to $65,000 and 1 contractor said $100,000. Farmers won't return our calls, he didn't even inspect the roof, just looked at said, estimate will be low but when can talk to the contractor of our chosen. What! So you low bid the repairs AND Farmers get to choose the contractor. Thats not right. Poor ******** service. While my elderly mom stays in a cold house while Farmers humm digs around for the lowest bid. My mom has paid into Farmers home insurance since **** and this is how they repay her. Im going to file a complaint with BBB and anyone else who will ******* They need to make a fair estimate so the local contractor can get to work, of her choice. Not wait 5 months for Farmers contractor. Farmers you need to **** up call my mom, give her the money to fix her home and be happy you did the right thing. Instead of being cheap and letting people suffer in the winter to save a buck.Farmers Insurance

1 starThis company has managed to s**** me over more than once now. Has caused me some many legal issues with the *** and with the ***********************. They have managed to set me up with 3 different payment amounts each time. First I started off pay ***** every week which was coming out of my payroll deduction for a whole year then somewhere down the line there was a system error and my payroll deduction was screwed up and they stop taking my payments and didn't notify me in any way that my insurance stopped I didn't know until I received notice from ***. I called everyday for a week to get it straightened out calling corporate til I was blue. They tried to make me pay ******* for car insurance from ***** I was not settling for that then they changed it to ****** to come out every week. Well when I asked to be taken off of payroll deduction and just pay monthly like a normal person they took it back to ******* this is insane and this company is over charging people and making up numbers as they go. It's not fair and something needs to be done especially when my payments were on time every monthFarmers Insurance

This situation is not resolved by far because of the mistake that one of farmers agents caused me by writing my policy for South Carolina when my car is registered in north Carolina has now caused me a large amount of money not only with this company but also with my lienholder and the DMV. I'm furious right now and the fact that no one at farmers/ mercer is willing to correct the situation they just want to keep charging me 2000.00 I will never recommend anyone to this company I'm being overcharged due to their agents and I'm being charged for it I'm not happy at all and I'm very ****** it's jeapordizing my carReview fromDouglas H

1 starI am very frustrated with Farmers. Firstly I tried to make a simple change to my auto policy because I bought a new car. I had to add the new car, then take the old car off the policy. That alone took several phone calls and they refused to make the change effective the date that my old car was unregistered to me. I transferred the plates from the old car to the new car. I was told that the change could only be made effective the date I called to ensure that they had made the changes I had requested in previous calls. Getting the documents needed to transfer the plates was another ordeal that took several calls and my having to raise my voice with the person on the other side of the phone. When I was finally done with that, I had to deal with sky-high rates. I contacted an insurance agent to see if I could get better service and better rates with another company to discover that I could pay a combined $900 less than with Farmers if I moved to another company which I promptly did. Now I have to deal with canceling the policies at Farmers. I am only at interaction #4. The insurance agent I enlisted sent the cancellation documents. I called to make sure that they were going to cancel my policies and I was told that they had not received the documents, ALSO the person I was on the phone with was not understanding what I was trying to do. I sent the documents again myself. I then called again and I still have no resolution.Farmers Insurance

1 starI wish I could give them a ZERO!!!! The ******** service is terrible. As a former ******** I have never dealt with such incompetence. On 6/3 I got into a no fault accident filed a claim and my adjuster, her boss and the majority of the team seem to went on a company vacation. The other agency of the at fault driver was attempting to contact so one with no luck. They do not have in network shops so you have to basically do all the footwork of finding a reputable shop. GOOD LUCK when trying to contact them to give them that info. The experience has been so traumatic. I am still waiting on my reimbursement and the shop is still waiting on supplemental payment. Save your money and sanity buy going with another agency. I even struggled to cancel but it is done and good riddance. HORRIBLE!!!!!Farmers Insurance

1 starHad an Auto policy with MetLife Auto Home insurance. Great Company. Was with them 38 years. In 2020 my auto insurance cost was $898 per year. Had a minor accident in 11/2020 - (two cars backing out of a parking space into the same area.) My next insurance bill for 2021 was $985 because of the accident and was calculated by Metlife. Then Farmers bought Metlife.
In May of 2022 I was told by Farmers my rate would increase to $1190 because of the accident and that was the new rate I would have to pay for 3 years. It would go down after that.
In October 2022 I received notice that because my frequency of accidents and unfavorable credit rating, my insurance would go for 2023 to $1417. I also had an accident in 2017 which was included in the rates I received from Metlife. So for this same minor accident in 2020 and an "unfavorable credit rating" my insurance increased by %519 or 57% per year.
First I looked up my credit rating on all 3 credit bureaus. All are in the "excellent" category.
Called Farmers and was told me the reason for the increase was due to information they received from a company called LexisNexis and that is why I got the increase. Told to call LexisNexis and resolve the issues with them. If the information was changed then my rates would decrease.
I called LexisNexis and they sent me a letter by that would include a secure password **** which I could get online and download all the information they had on me. Was also told that they do not provide credit info - only info reguarding auto insurance!
GUESS WHAT! The information LexisNeis had on me was given to them by "F A R M E R S Insurance" !!!!!! Understand? The information Farmers received from LexisNexis was the information Farmers gave them! And included in their report was that Farmers/Metlife had paid only $894 for that 11/2020 accident.
Bottom line: Farmers outright lied to me 3 times. Never checked my credit. And stated that I had too many accidents.
I cancelled Farmers.Anthony S

Farmers' response was comical. Remember Farmers took over MetLife Auto and Home.
I was told my rate increased because the average price for auto repair in South Carolina went up $84 to $109 and that was the reason for my increase. When i first called Farmers to compalin I was told the inflation rate in South Catolina was up 24%. Now the $109 is around 10%. They can't get their stories straight.
I don't have unfavorable credit - but they wouldn't double check. Said it was due to info from LexisNexis. Again, LexisNexis indicated I had minimal debt and all my payments have all been on time.
My rate increased when I was with MetLife Auto insrance due to my accident. Since Farmers took over, Farmers has increased my rate for the same accident (which according to LexisNexis they spent $894). every 6 months.
I can see and understand a change due to inflation, but to increase my rate from $985 (my 2021 rate) to $1417 today without an additional accident or additional claim - they still have not answered that question except to blame it on another company.. I wouldn't recomend Farmers insurance to anyone. And their last correspondence suposedly to qualm my concerns with them - again laughable. I'm just a peon who doesn't do business with them anymore so they aren't going to correct anything.
