Excess Telecomm allowed fraudster to open an account in my name and get a free iPad as well as free internet data. They did not do due diligence to check that that person is indeed me, they used my identity to apply for the account.Fraudulent account number that was opened is either ************* or ********Business Response

Dear Better Business Bureau,
Thank you for sending this to us for review. We have located the account and can confirm that it has been cancelled. The customer can take the following steps to report the alleged theft of identity if they would like.

I called excess telecom asking about their phone service. I'm on ACP phone program. This company switch my service to there company "without my consent" also never sent me a sim card to re activate my phone. I called this company and got the run-around from their employees with no one helping me at all. For 10 days my phone was out of service. Today I had to goto Metro for phone service. Again the Employees at this company are very rude to people asking for help. This is a bad company to do business with.Business Response

On 4/24 and again on 4/25, I received a text message from phone number ************ stating that my ACP benefits were successfully transferred to Excess Telecom. Upon calling both Excess Telecom and USAC, they were able to confirm that my identity was not used to create an account for ACP benefits (I do not qualify for these government benefits anyways). I requested that my phone number be removed from the system and I was told that they could not remove my personal phone number from an account without account information from the person who's account it was listed. THIS IS STILL IDENTITY THEFT! I want my phone number completely removed from whatever accounts my number is listed under, as I've received a second message today stating the same thing, that my "benefits have successfully transferred."Business Response

Keep getting contacted by Excess Telecom saying my number and account are part of their system. I've read up on this noting they have many complaints -- they have a history of assigning random phone numbers to new accounts. I'm not a customer, I would like my number removed from their system. I read online that the only way to do this is through the BBB.Business Response
