I paid Next Generation Builders $10,000 to draft architectural plans and also get the plans through the entire permitting process until a building permit is issued. This is for an accessory dwelling unit (ADU) on my property. They drafted the plans and submitted them to the city and started the permitting process, but as the plans are still in the process and still need modifications. No permit is issued yet. The company's phones seem to be disconnected and the emails are being kicked back to me. The last email I received from them was in April.Initial Complaint

I am assisting my Mother-in-Law ***************************** with a compliant against Next Generation Builders for contracted work for ADU at her home at *************************************** *************, Ca *****. The construction of the project started in November 2023. Demolition was completed in December 2023 rough framing was completed. No work was done between December 2023 and March 2024 at which time windows were installed, but other workers did not not return to work claiming that they are owed money by Next Generation and they would not be coming back until paid. during this time, repeated phone calls, messages, and emails were sent without response. No work was done from March 2024 to April 2024 at which time plumbers and electricians partially completed but stopped, claiming that Next Generation owed them money and they would not be completing our jobs until paid by Next Generation. Again after repeated calls, messages, and emails, we have received no response. The total amount of the contracted work is $157,000 and we have made 2 out of 3 payments so far totaling about $125,000. The project was supposed to take about 4-6 months to complete but we are at 7 months already and the project is nowhere near finished with no definite timeline or expectation of completing project. Next Generation has become increasingly difficult to contact and the part owner ************************** who told us that she is the best contact does not answer any calls, messages, or emails. We would like to have unfinished work completed and any unused portion of budget returned promptly so that we can seek other contractors to complete the job. *************************** phone number is ***************** And her email address is ******************************************Initial Complaint

We paid $20,000 to Next Generation Builder through Mosaic Sure Pay to build an ADU affordable dwelling unit in our backyard. We signed the contract in June or July 2023. We paid in full in December 2023. But they still have not begun work on the construction of the unit. We are unable to reach the company or representatives by email or telephone. All emails come back as undeliverable and the phone numbers have been disconnected.Initial Complaint

On August 23, 2023, *********************, Field Specialist for Next Generation Builders; License #*******. A contractor named ********************* gave me a quote for building an ADU on my property. However, he pressured me multiple times to apply for a loan to pay for permits to begin the project, despite my clear indication that I wasn't ready to start. I only wanted a quote. Although I have debt and recently purchased the property, I agreed to check if I qualified for a loan. I made it clear that I wouldn't start the project and needed to discuss it with my husband before making any decisions. I advised the contractor not to withdraw any funds until I gave him the go-ahead.A few days later, we canceled the project and requested that Next Gen not withdraw the funds of $12,600, but they had already done it on 8/23/23. The representative, ******, refused to cancel the project and return the funds. I reached out to MOSAIC the Lender -Loan # ******: to inquire about the possibility of returning the funds that were withdrawn, as the project that the loan was meant for has been canceled. They confirmed that the funds can indeed be returned. All that Next Generation Builders need to do is send the funds, which will then be credited to my loan account.Despite numerous emails promising a refund and project cancellation from Next Generation Builders, headed by *********************, no action has been taken yet. ****** confirmed that they still hold my outstanding loan of $12,600, as the funds have not been returned by NG Builders.Next Generation Builders failed to return the money to the bank or me and never started the project. We did not even see a design.I need your help getting a refund of $12,600 plus interest from Next Generation Builders. They withdrew funds without my consent. Please assist me in having the payment sent to MOSAIC or me. I need your assistance with this matter and request the BBB's intervention. Thank you! ******************************* ************
