This company has advertised this unit SR as having navigation and the capability of upgrading features. Because I cannot conduct a simple registration from Zeros website and their inability to register me themselves I have been cheated of features not accessible after purchase. This is false advertisement. I would like an upgrade to a model with features already present (ex. Navigation).SR/F

Purchased new 2020 Zero FX on 10/11/2019 from Go AZ Motorsports, Peoria, AZ. During first 6 months bike was at dealership for service 107 days for 4 occurrences of loss of power. The motor was replaced 3 times under warranty. After the last motor replacement, one of the two main batteries stopped working. Log files from the battery management system and main bike board indicate a series of faults and errors from the date the bike was returned to me following the most recent motor replacement. Log file was cleared by dealership, so no data prior to that. After keeping the bike for nearly two weeks with the failed battery, I was advised by the dealership that Zero is denying my warranty claim, and states that I need to purchase a new battery for $2895. Zero claims I damaged the battery. The battery comes with a 5 year warranty. The bike was only 9 months old when the battery failed, and has under 5000 miles. I attempted to negotiate a lemon law claim and cash settlement for the warranty issue, but the only response from Zero was threatening to sue me in court if I did not drop my claims. Given that a court trial could cost much more than the bike is worth, I am trying to save litigation as a last resort. Zero produces false advertising, by showing Zero motorcycles being driven aggressively off road, but then alleges that I damaged the battery by driving the bike off-road, when I never drove it nearly as hard as is shown in their advertising. The warranty is false representation. I paid over $14,000 for a dual sport motorcycle that didn't live up to expectations or last 2 months before major problems, and the problems are still unresolved. The bike is also poor quality compared to other motorcycles that I have owned in the past from the standpoint of being extra fragile. For example I had to replace the rear wheel spokes after half of them broke on a ride (not a warranty item, but still never had that happen on other bikes), and the one time I dropped the bike on a dirt trail, the inner and outer parts of the rear fender completely broke off, along with turn signals, and license plate. Also the part that is supposed to secure the batteries in place with a lock, kept falling off during normal riding and eventually was lost. I purchased a replacement part, and it doesn't come close to fitting. The wheel rims are flimsy and frequently need straightening and spokes adjusted. The shocks bottom out on bumps that are not very big, and Zero doesn't offer options for heavy duty springs. The drive belt broke after a couple weeks, and I paid extra for the chain upgrade, but then the sprocket broke causing damage to the motor which was why motor needed to replaced the 3rd time. So buyer beware. I don't recommend getting a Zero unless you have money to burn. It is a fun bike when it runs, but I regret buying it.

    Zero Motorcycles Response

    05/12/2021

On behalf of Zero Motorcycles Inc., we are writing in response to the May 9, 2021 BBB review regarding John Sweet's claims about the battery equipped on his 2020 Zero FX Motorcycle ("Motorcycle"). Specifically, Mr. Sweet assertions that Zero has wrongfully denied a warranty claim involving that battery. We disagree.

Zero warrants its 2020 Zero FX Motorcycles, including the Power Pack (i.e., "battery") equipped on those motorcycles, against certain defects in materials and workmanship. But Zero expressly excludes from warranty coverage motorcycles or Power Packs that are damaged because of misuse, abuse, accidents, or improper operation. (Id.)

Here, Mr. Sweet's Power Pack exhibited significant evidence of misuse, abuse, and/or improper operation. That misuse, abuse, and/or improper operation damaged the Power Pack and caused any resulting issue with it. Accordingly, the Power Pack is not covered by the 2020 Limited Warranty.

Further, Zero denies Mr. Sweet's allegations regarding his Motorcycle being a "lemon" or that Zero's actions regarding the battery are in "retaliation" for Mr. Sweet's lemon law claim. Zero's counsel has repeatedly explained to Mr. Sweet's counsel, in both writing and on the phone, that Mr. Sweet's Motorcycle is not a "lemon" due to, among other things, misuse, abuse, and damage to it. If Mr. Sweet believes otherwise, he should address his claims directly with his counsel.

In sum, Zero has honored its obligations under the 2020 Limited Warranty. Zero is under no obligation to perform any further actions.
