On June 17, 2024 my garage door opener did not work and I was unable to open the garage using the emergency garage door opener. I contacted a company listed on the Internet as California Garage ***************** (see attached internet listing) at ************ as two local companies were unavailable to respond.A technician named *** handled the repair. His cell number is ************. Initially he quoted me $375 for labor and $1,350 for heavy duty springs. When I asked him for an estimated total cost, he indicated that the only other costs would be for parts. I inquired at least 2-3 times and got the same answer,When he competed the work approximately 90 minutes later than initially quoted, the garage door was able to be opened but the garage door opener was not working. *** indicated that the garage door opener needed to be replaced as the emergency opener had been bent in the process of attempting to use it.I agreed to have him replace the garage door opener with a Lift Master product. I do not recall him providing me with an estimate.I had a guest who was leaving the next day and we left to handle an errand. When I returned, *** provided me with a receipt from a company named Garage ************ at ********************** (attached), but he indicated that he was working for a company named Melikson Garage Door at ************. The receipt was for a total of $8,550. The actual payment went to a company named Garage and Gates at ************* Job reference # ****R (see attached).I called my credit card company the next day as the cost for the parts and the garage door opener seemed excessive. I tried to try to stop payment, but they indicated the payment had already gone through.I WILL E-MAIL THE REST OF THIS STATEMENTBusiness Response

We contacted the company regarding our garage door not closing properly. A tech quickly came out to inspect and changed out the motor and sensors on our door, while charging us $950 for a motor that is only $150 at the store. Later in the day we noticed that the tech put the safety sensors on the top of the motor which is on the roof of the garage. We notified the company that this is not acceptable as we have small children that can be crushed by the door, and for the EXCESSIVE price we paid that this needs to be fixed. We have not heard from the company and they will not answer the phone. We either want a refund and our equipment back or a reasonable refund and we will fix it ourselves.Business Response

I called Melikson for a quote to fix my broken garage door, and they sent someone quickly when I wasnt home. I rushed home to meet him, and he offered me three options for new springs ($800 per side, $500, or $350) I mentioned the cheapest option would be appropriate ($700 total), and before I had the chance to ask anything else he immediately started working on it. He finished in 5 minutes and then gave me an invoice for $1550. I was obviously shocked and confused - he charged me $375 for the labor and $300 for cables (for which neither was discussed in any way shape or form). I called a supervisor and it took me about 20 minutes to find anyone to speak to. I finally got hold of someone from a call center to resolve the issue, and they took the price of the cables off but refused to deduct the labor. The bill was reduced to about $1100, and they were only allowing me to pay via Zelle or Venmo. Immediately it started to look like an absolute scam from all angles. Eventually they allowed me to pay with a credit card, but I do plan on taking this to civil court. NEVER do business with Melikson, sloppy work and overall scam artists.Business Response

This company (the branch located in **********, **) is extremely predatory with their pricing and services. We were overcharged, we were pressured and put on the spot about paying for a part that we didn't need, and when we refused, the service provider did not execute the job that we hired them for. We were told it would cost $275 with a few additional charges for parts that would not get charged to us unless we agreed to it, and when all was said and done, the service cost us $930. And the service provider lied and told us we needed parts that we did not need, causing us to spend WAY more than we agreed to. We contacted the company the following day and they agreed to send out someone else to ensure the job was done properly because the main issue wasn't even addressed, and they agreed to refund $150 back to us and send someone out to check the work and make sure it was all done properly. The new service provider showed up without the money to refund us and refused to fix problem without charging us $300, even though we were told they would remedy the situation for free. We are still awaiting the refund that they agreed to, but we believe we should be fully refunded because they misled us, did not finish the job, and lied repeatedly. This company is extremely predatory and shady. I am happy to provide more details, I truly believe that this needs to be noted because I'm sure they take advantage of people all of the time. I'm sure they will lie and deny these claims and it's unlikely we'll get a refund, but I want this on record to protect other people in the future from using this company.Business Response

On June 23rd we contacted Melikson garage door repair because our garage door opener would not work. They immediately set up an appointment and sent a repair company out within 24 hours. The technician sent was contracted out from KM Garage door. He was very knowledgeable and explained what was wrong and immediately replaced the opener, springs and other parts that were damaged. He even went as far as to program all car door openers and key pads. Even though it was pricey my husband and I were happy with work. On Wednesday, july 16th we noticed that the bracket installed above the garage door that held the springs had come out of the wall. This part was reinstalled by the contractor while completing the work. The door is currently not safe and not useable. We contacted the technician and explained the situation and he said he would come tomorrow and hung up the phone. The next day came and no technician so we texted him and it took hours for a response and he reply he would come tomorrow. We responded and asked what time and he never responded. On Friday, after many text messages and calls to the technician and no response we reached out to the original company explained the situation and they said they would reach out to upper management and get back to us. On Sunday we still have not heard anything so reached out again and they said they would contact management and hung up on us. We even tried reaching out to technician again and no response. At this point we would like the bracket safety repaired because our work was completed less than 1 month ago. For paying $3500 I would expect better follow up on work that was not done properly and is unsafeBusiness Response

On March 12, 2024 we search the web for garage door repair and Melikson Garage Door which is apparently a mobile garage door company -- no brick and mortar business. Melikson came up with the phone number of ************, which is my area. The company sent a repairmain to our house that evening. We were charged $675 for service call and repair that did not involve replacing any parts.A check for that amount (payable to A L **** Services) was given to him that evening and cashed on March 13. The repairman said a receipt would be texted to us. On March 14th, we called the company requesting the receipt. They advised they would send it. We texted and called the repairman on March 18 who said he would have the receipt sent. Not received. On March 20, I called the company again requesting the receipt. They would not give me the owner/manager's name or phone number. I requested a phone call back by end of day or I would file a complaint with BBB. No call received. They said online they provide a 12-month warranty on components and 30-day work guarantee. Their license # *******. I want a receipt for proof of service and warranty.Business Response
