I experienced an issue with my garage door on June 9. The cable broke, causing the door to fall sideways off its track. I required immediate assistance, so I searched online and found Melikson Garage Door Repair. I was informed that the technician would arrive within a few hours. Upon arrival, he quoted a price of $650 to fix the issue, which I considered expensive, but I agreed to the price due to his immediate availability. However, upon completion of the job, I was presented with a different total of $878, which included an additional charge for the cable, a credit card fee, and taxes. I was not provided with a written estimate or invoice. The following day, I had to call the company three times to request an invoice. Notably, the garage door was only three years old and had cost $2,500 to install, including a garage opener. I was surprised when the technician stated that the total cost to put the door back on track and add some cable would be $878.00.

I contacted Melikson Garage Door after doing a ****** search due to my garage door no longer working. I called them and was told a repair technician could come out that same day on 4/24/25. When he arrived and assessed the situation, he told me that over $700 to replace a broken spring and broken cable. I was told the spring would come with a 3-5 year warranty. When the job was finished, I asked about the 10% discount advertised on the website and he seemed surprised. He only agreed to a partial discount if I paid by check or cash. It was only when I wrote the check for the agreed upon $680 that I found out that he did not work for Melikson Garage Door but was a subcontractor. He requested the check be written out to N.D. **********************. I was not provided an invoice and was told that he would give me one later. I assumed that like some repairmen that Ive worked with in the past, this meant he was going to write it up in the driveway and leave it on the door or mail it to me later. This did not happen. I have called Melikson Garage Door the week of April 27th to follow-up on the invoice and was told a manager would get back to me to resolve this issue but no one called. I followed up on 5/9/25 and was told again someone would call. I received a text from the person who did the work, Din, asking me to call him. I called him that day and he didnt seem to remember doing any work, instead asking me for the details of what day he came out and what work he did. Afterwards, he did say that he remembered and that there was a 3-5 year warranty. He said he was working on the invoice and would email it to me shortly after the call. I verified my email address with him. No email arrived. I sent a follow up text on 5/14/25 to Din asking about the invoice, which my Apple phone indicates was read, but have received no response. This has been really frustrating because I feel I was overcharged after doing research and now I have no documentation to back the warranty.

The Melikson sub-contractor, ******************************* run by ******* ***********, charged me, I came to find out later, 10x over retail price for the opener and between 3x and 6x for other things. He also double-charged me for installation and added a $300 service fee which was never mentioned. Overall, I spent $6,000 for a repair that should've cost $1,000. I contacted him several times to resolve this issue and he has not responded.

Tech named **** came out today due to garage door opener not working. He suggested replacing the motor, which I agreed to. I initially wanted the cheapest option, but he suggested the second one. He then suggested replacing the springs also and some tube. He upcharged almost everything on the receipt from the original quote and charged me an egregious $3,650 after the work was already done. And said I had to pay with check or *****. Complete SCAM and bait and switch! I am a law student and will pursue this in small claims court.

We recently contacted Horizon Garage Doors to ***lace the torsion springs on our garage door. We made a call on Thursday and confirmed the appointment on Friday. We were told that the technician could only provide an estimate in person and that the company is unable to provide a price range for the job over the phone. The appointment was first set for Saturday but I informed the company on the phone on Thursday that my husband will call and confirm the exact time to ensure someone would be home. My husband contacted the company and received information that the technician could be there on Friday between ***** am. I was not home at the time so my husband asked for a later time 4-6 pm. A change in my schedule allowed for the earlier appointment so I called the company and confirmed for *****am. The technician arrived on time but I did note that the white Ram he drove did not have a company logo(I noted, but didnt think anything more of it). The technician informed that there was a 3 tier estimate for the job-1350-premium, 1050-middle, 825-basic. These prices were way above market price for changing torsion springs. I went with the basic despite my reservations. In writing a check the *** told me to write it to Melikson Garage and I was confused that it wasnt Horizon, but he said they work for the company. Long story short, I did not receive a receipt and in attempts to resolve I contacted the company and spoke to someone about the pricing and lack of transparency in the company name and inquired if the job was subcontracted. The customer service *** said that they do work for ******* and at times they work with other companies. Later that day I received a call from Horizon Garage who knew nothing of or worked with Melikson. I even shared the invoice and they knew nothing about working with this company. I am confused about this transaction and dishonesty and placed a hold on the check until I can resolve what actually happened. I have not heard from Melikson.

I called to get our garage door repaired! It was cracked across the top due to inadvertently closing on a vehicle. Therefore would fold when trying to Open ! The existing door was used and did not need to purchase a new door. Upon first contact I was quoted about $3300 usd , which I thought was extreme for a few pieces of reinforced metal to strengthen the crack, then was told I needed a new garage door opener! So then as you can see the charges are extremely over done with a very poor explanation on work order hardly readable and zero details!I requested the work order months ago and finally received a copy of it 2 days ago! Obviously completed after the fact? Heavy duty mechanical repair $2500?Then heavy duty something for another $1000 (opener?) , plus another $700 for parts of the opener which ends up being $1700 for a garage door opener that Id probably about at most a third of the cost! It looks like approximately $1300 labour for at most 4/5 hrs labour! As you can see on the pic the agreement was stroked out, Ive never seen the agreement until 2 days ago, and never initialed anything. I left the worker a $1000 usd deposit as on the work order! Im not in the habit of paying bills without seeing the costs etc and find these very extreme. The only thing that needed to be done was to put reinforced supports across the top to prevent the door from buckling, Ill include pics of the starting issue! As far as Im concerned the $1000 usd deposit can be kept by the company, for services rendered but Im not wanting or likely to pay such extreme charges that were not agreed to prior to the additional costs.Thank you in advance for dealing with my issue!***** ********

On February 18, 2025 , I was unable to open my garage door using the remote on the wall. I needed to get my car out as I was leaving for ******* the next day. I called what I thought was a local company and they said they would be right out. One of my springs was broken but the *** said he had to replace both on my one-car garage. I agreed and he told me a medium price would be$750 each for a total of $1500. I was surprised it was so much (I am a 81-year old on a budget) but had no choice. Then he told me that I needed a new 1/2 hp motor which I agreed to as I was not strong enough to be lifting the door manually. That was an additional $850 plus $49 for cable and labor was $245. Total bill was $2,811.90. He also asked if I wanted to include a tip which showed at 15%, 20% etc. I was shocked at that and felt uncomfortable and told him to add just $50 for tip. I wrote out a check for total amount and had to go to bank to transfer money as I did not have that much and was going to *******. He asked me to write a check out to his name personally (******* Henendin) but invoice read from Melikson Garage Door. When I saw my son the next day in *******, he felt I paid way too much. He is a lawyer and had his garage door recently replaced as well. I just returned to *********** and called Milikson and saw that they are out of **********. The company the *** said he was with was MS ********************** Doors in *********. When this ******* went to cash my check for $2,811.90, my bank called as they were suspicious. I told them it was ok. I did call Melikson today to question the price and he said he would get back to me. He had someone from this MS ********************** Door call me back and he was kind of rude and knew exactly what I paid. When I asked for the license number Of ******* ******* or their company, he said he couldnt give it over the phone and then said that he would call me back and he hadnt yet. I just want to know if this was a scam and if I was overcharged.

I am rejecting this response because:  the business (Milikson Garage) just left a one sentence message - "All complaints had been addressed".  I have never heard from them since my brief phone call where they said they would get back to me (3/19/25) and heard from MS Garage Door just once.  The phone number I have seems to be the cell phone of Michael Henendin) who did the work.  I have since compared the prices charged by him and I definitely was overcharged for two springs and cable and new 1/2 hp opener.  The price of $2,861.90 was way too high for a one-car garage.  I am a senior citizen on a fixed budget and this was an unexpected expense.   I would like to know if AMililson Garage actually spoke to the Connecticut men who supposedly have this MS Garage Door which I could not find in BBB listings for CT.  I never found out if he was a licensed worker.  Please have company give more than a one sentence reply.

    Sincerely,

    Mary Pych

I recently called Melikson Garage Door because my opener stopped working. They sent someone out the same day for a free consultation. They advised that the opener was really old and was better to be replaced and I agreed. They Quoted me 950 but went down to 850 since when I showed them a $99 discount coupon on the website for new installations. He installed the opener and much like other complaints here said its cheaper with cash or Zelle. So when I Zelled it the invoice was another company name Elite Garage Door which seemed strange so I decided to dig little deeper into the invoice and thats when I realized that I was charged $450 for a $250 opener ( 3/4 HP Smart Quiet Belt Drive Garage Door Opener) easily found for 249 or less at any local Lowes, Homedepot, Amazon even Door Dash and on top of that they added a separate charge of $125 for the drive belt which already comes included in the box with the opener when purchased. They also charged me $275 for roughly an hour of labor. So essentially I was charged ****** for the installation of a $250 garage door opener. I called them to address this and was advised that a member of management will be in touch. Instead I got a call back from the installation tech who tried to defend as to why he was charged so much. I guess he realized that I wasn't falling for anything he eventually said that he will call " the company" and they will probably just issue the refund. I told him that I would be waiting however I have not heard anything since. Overcharging customers like this is unacceptable especially extra for parts that come included in the first place.
