Optima Tax was paid $5900 to resolve an issue with the *** from 2019. Here in 2024, the problem has yet to be resolved, and after much back and forth, inconsistencies, and lies, this company is refusing to give my money back.Business Response

We began working with Optima in 2021. I was advised last year that they were filing an extension of my 2022 taxes while they gathered the **2's, and we trusted that the taxes had been filed. As I am trying to complete FAFSA forms for my daughter I discovered that our 2022 taxes were never filed, so we are again out of compliance with the **** I had NO idea this was not done! We have paid them well over 5k for resolution of our IRS debts, we did not receive any of the Covid relief checks beyond the first one, and I find out today trying to apply for my daughter's school loans that they filed an extension on my 2022 taxes but never filed the taxes? What did we pay 5k for? They have not resolved anything and now we are out of compliance and have to file late and get even more penalties! This is NOT what they advertise and promise people and certainly NOT reflective of an A+ BBB Company. They have consistently "overlooked" every piece of documentation that we uploaded for them until we called to tell them that they had it, we get very little communication, and we were just taken for a 5k ride that has not resolved anything. I want our 2022 taxes filed immediately with Optima being responsible for any late filing fees.Business Response

My husband ********************* was using them for his stuff. But when he found out that to do phase two would cost a series of 8 $425+ payments he notified them that we would not be able to afford to proceed and that we sought to have our money refunded back for phase one. My husband owes the irs less than $15.000 so it should not be this troublesome. We told optima we will get help elsewhere where we can afford. They told my husband that they will call him in ***** hours thursday last week thursday February 22nd. It's next week and beyond the time limit and still we have gotten no call or replies to our emails or calls. Now that we want a refund it's like they have shut us out. We would like for them to refund our money like they said they would. This is poor business.Business Response

Optima Tax Relief did not perform any duties or provide protection. After my last payment of ******, It was very hard to get a hold of team 125. When we did finally talk, I got asked if I was being garnished yet. I was very upset after this. I also got told to pay ****** per month to remain protected until they figure out the next move. Knowing that this would put me in more of a bind, I would not agree to pay and called the *** myself. After talking with them, they took some of the interest off that had accrued and had my payments at 188 per month. After calling Optima back they stated they would pay me 300 dollars and I also declined. That means they get ******* for not even talking to the *** or protecting me. When I declined, they wanted proof that I even talked to and made a deal with the ***. I sent them copies and faxed Sofi directly my agreement and never heard from Optima again. This is not an establishment that cares after they get the money. I am very disappointed in the way I was mistreated. I am not rich and every dollar counts. Respectfully, I am not satisfied with 300 out of the 3200 dollars you took for doing absolutely nothing. I am following all steps to be within the means of reconciling but I will not be pushed around by one more big business that's done me wrong in hopes that I don't have the time or knowledge to take said issue further. As previously stated, Optima Tax has reached out to the client upon receiving the complaint and made good-faith attempts to reach a mutual agreement. Optima Tax remained ready and willing to continue services despite the client requesting to cancel. Unfortunately, we were not able to come to an agreement with the client. Although it is not typical for us to offer refunds outside of our cancellation period, a generous courtesy refund was offered. To make it very clear, Optima gave me an offer of 300 dollars out of the 3200 dollars that was given to them for doing absolutely nothing. Optima Tax Relief has failed to meet their contractual obligation. They have failed to keep me informed or to keep appointments set by them. They have filed my returns incorrectly or to work with the *** in resolving my debt. I have paid them several thousand dollars without resolution. Team 125 is never available to speak to me about my case. I can not speak to the accountant who did my taxes or it takes months for anything to get resolved. Issues never get resolved even though I have given them everything they asked me to send. I am at the point of having an attorney resolve it in court.Business Response

After I filed my initial complaint Optima contacted me and I was under the impression they would resolve my issues. I sent all that was requested. I sent multiple emails for a status update but have not heard from them. They have not returned phone calls or returned my emails.
At this point, I no longer want to deal with them and want the funds returned to me. They have failed to follow through with the contract.

The only time the company reaches out is when the BBB sends them the complaint letter. I have reached out numerous times and they have failed to respond. I was scheduled a phone call a few months ago and they failed to call me on the scheduled date and time. I have been very patient since September but still have had no resolution on this matter. I understand there is a class action lawsuit against them for the same reasons and will take it to that level if they fail to return all funds sent to them.
I have severed my relationship with them and am working directly with the IRS.

They were hired to handled my tax issue. The first two stages were great the consultation and investigation stage were great and both stages were stating positive outcome. The final stage was a nightmare. They never did what they said they were going to do. After paying them ******* in in the same circumstance as i started with. Still owe more and on an installment agreement that the *** want me to agree to. But Optima they two stages said that they could lower and resolve the issue. But after a year and after closing my case they didnt do anything. But take my money. I do agree they are owed something for their time and investigative but not the whole total that was paid.Business Response

I paid Optima Tax Relief $4000 to assist in resolving my debt issue and nothing has been done. I was told I would get resolution with 60 days and that was *** of 2023. A message was posted on the customer portal that there was a resolution and upon calling I am never transferred to anyone that can provide an answer and I am told I will be called back within 3-5 business days and no call is ever received. The *** has advised that they were never contacted and not work has been done on my behalf. This has been pure fraud, and I plan on filing a lawsuit this week.Business Response

However, it should not take this level of engagement to ****** a response, there should be a way to directly contact someone to understand what is going on with the case. I payed the money they required and received NO help, I had a few phone calls from people that worked there but they said the same things, they said to fill out what i could and they would do the rest. well I told them I did not know the information they needed but still filled out what i could and they did nothing at all. they promised that they would walk me through the entire process and did nothing at all but as soon as the bill came due they took it on time every time. they did not provide the service that they promised but i still payed and i now want the money back since they did not supply the service.Business Response

In 2022, I contacted Optima Tax relief to help me with back taxes from previous years. I paid over $3K with installments over the course of 4 months. Once I made my last installment payment it was like they lost all my contact information. Optima Tax Relief didn't return phone calls or emails. When I first signed up for their services, I was given the impression they would help. this company gave me false hope took my money and put me in a worse situation. I now am being told I owe $2k more than the original amount I had. before I used their services, I was paying monthly installments on my back taxes and in good standings. Two years later after Optima took control of it my installment plan for my back taxes has increased and my total amount in back taxes has also. I asked for my Money Back and was let go on the phone not knowing if my request was submitted. I just do not understand how a company like this will tell you flat out lies to get your money and then put you in a worse situation.Business Response
