      I am uncomfortable with the amount of data about me shared by this website. I tried to suppress the data myself and was given an email address to contact for help on the site - ***************************************** I have emailed the company on 9/14/24, 6/27/25, and again on 7/3/25. They have not responded to me. I would like a reply and I would like my data suppressed from the site.

Instant Checkmate compiles publicly available information from government records, commercial data providers, and other public sources. While we cannot remove individual records, we do offer the option to suppress an entire background report from our site.

      Based on the information provided in the BBB complaint, we located and validated Ms. ******* report. We have now completed suppression in accordance with her request and our Terms of Use.

      We also wish to clarify that we responded to Ms. ******* emails in September 2024, June 2025, and July 2025, each time requesting additional details needed to verify her record. As we had not received that information, we were unable to proceed until now. We appreciate her follow-up via the BBB, which allowed us to take final action.

      This suppression applies to all people search sites operated by the PeopleConnect family, including **************************, ***************, ************, and ************.

      I am submitting a request for deletion of my personal data from PeopleConnect, including Instant Checkmate, Intelius, TruthFinder and USSearch. The sharing of information poses significant safety and privacy concerns leaving individuals vulnerable to exploitation and misuse of the data collected and sold. The potential consequences are the increased risk of fraud, identity theft and threats to personal safety. When manually opting out through the ******************** the information submitted did not accurately reflect the information collected by PeopleConnect. As they were unable to locate any results that matched my name and date of birth. Implementing an opt-out process should not create increased difficulty for consumers who wish to submit a request to opt-out of the sale of their data. Despite concerted efforts to prevent future sharing of my personal data, the information has been reinstated. Crucially, the information on record by PeopleConnect is reporting the following A Possible Criminal or Traffic Records associated with the name *** *** found!. This reporting is inaccurate and can have negative consequences as the accusations are defamatory. For the Better Business Bureau reference, I have attached an image from InstantCheckmate along with several additional images taken from PeopleConnects family of sites displaying my information.       Since November of 2024, Instant Checkmate has been charging me monthly for a total of $249.29. I've not used their service, nor did I authorize these charges.

      I have a brand new southwest Chase ***** which I received last week and on June 19 I received a charge of $27.49 for instant checkmate which I did not purchase.

      Instant Checkmate is a public records search engine that compiles publicly available information into easy-to-read reports. Our memberships operate on a subscription model that renews automatically until canceled by the user, which is clearly outlined during the sign-up process. Full billing terms are displayed on our registration page (***********************************************) and detailed in our Terms of Use (***************************************************).
      During registration, users must provide an electronic signature and actively agree to these terms before any charges are processed.

      After a careful review, we located an account associated with the email ************************ which was used to search for public records on ***** ******.
      In cases of suspected fraud, we always encourage the billed party to reach out directly so we can investigate thoroughly. Once confirmed, we immediately disable the account, cancel any active memberships, and refund the most recent charge.

      As a courtesy, we have canceled and refunded this account, and disabled access to prevent any further use. The $27.49 charge has been reversed, and depending on your financial institution, please allow 35 business days for the charge to be fully removed.

      I was looking for certain information on their site which claims they can provide and all I found was old information that wasn't even updated from the dates I was searching. I was on for almost 10 minutes and I knew they could not provide me what I was looking for. I immediately called three times in which I was hung up on all three times .       I contacted this company in the past to have my data removed from this website; as a response it was promptly removed. I recently did a ****** search and saw that my data was put back onto the website without my consent. I have sent email requests to have my data removed and was told my email is not associated with the website data. I have called the call center on dates 4/23/25, 4/28/25, and 5/5/25, requesting to speak to a supervisor, I was told I on every occasion none were available and that I would receive a phone call from one within 48 to 72 hours, without a return phone call or update on my personal removal of data on their website. Instead it seems as if they are attempting to collect personal data from me on every phone call in order to update their website. They use defamation techniques to reel people into using their website. Defamation such as this profile may contain graphic images, possible traffic or criminal record associated with this name, etc. They make it extremely difficult for someone to remove personal data from the website, although claim it is as simple as a click or phone call, and never have a supervisor available.
