    The company is selling my personal information on their database and requiring additional personal information that increases the risk for identity theft for removal of said information. I want my information removed from their database and to stay off their database.

    Background Alert opt out is requiring a photo ID to opt out of their public and for-profit databases and to have my information removed from their site.     Norton Protection brought to my attention that Background Alert has personal information (address) and inaccurate information representing me posted on their website. I did not authorize for any of my information to be posted on their site. I would like to remove the posted information; however, Background Alert is requesting my ID to verify my identity. I do not feel comfortable with providing my ID to this company or any other identifying information. I am requesting all information be removed.

    I too have attempted to have my name removed from a data collector, Background Alert. I have provided the necessary identification information, but they require a copy of my ID. I am uncomfortable with giving them such personal information and feel it is entirely unnecessary. There does not appear to be any other means to contact them to avoid the requirement for an ID. I feel this requirement is a trap to obtain further personal information that can be disseminated to other entities. I would like to have my identification removed without need for personal ID disclosure.

    On 9/24/2024 I found that my data is present on Background Alerts. I requested that my information be removed but this site requires upload of an ID to confirm information before removal. I don't feel comfortable doing that when I am trying to remove the information they are already trying to sell. Other companies remove the information with only an email verification. I would like my information removed without having to submit any more personal information to this company. It shouldn't take me contacting the BBB for them to take it down. I do not give Background Alerts or any of its affiliates permission to sell or share my personal information.

    ****** notified me that Background Alert was potentially selling my personal data. I requested them to stop but they require me to send in a copy of my id. This is the only data broker that requires this to remove personal data from their database. I feel like this is just a means for background alert to acquire more information on me to sale. Data brokers requesting ids from people requesting they stop selling their data seems wrong.
