Myself and the members of my household would like our information removed from being made available and public on peoplewhiz's website. They are requesting a copy of our ID's in order to achieve this. Privacy and hacking concerns are exactly why we wish to have our information removed from their website. We are absolutely not going to share personal ID's with this company as they are already selling our personal information for profit. This is a ludicrous request especially in this day and age where we are trying our best to prevent identity theft, but everyday you read about another data breach. My family members are also trying to do this so I would like their name removal included in this resolution.

    Hi *****,

Thank you for contacting us regarding your concerns. Peoplewhiz is a provider of over 67 billion public records. Our data architecture and proprietary technology allows us to search through the records and deliver results instantly to our customers. We do not have control of the public records available, but we do allow individuals to remove their name from the database. The driver's license is only requested to validate the identity of the individual requesting (there can be multiple people with matching names and cities) for their information to be removed and to help ** with our monthly compliance review. Can you please send a screenshot of all the listings you want removed and I will take them down ASAP.

Thank you in advance for your attention to this matter.

reference optout case# 'e89de489c43481f6c7cab6870e57987b I have asked to have my information removed from the site. However, the business does not honor my request and insists on me having to provide a government issued ID. As I can see other complaints here have the same issue and the business reply states that an ID is not necessary. Why am I asked to provide an ID with additional personal identifiable information if the business states in its reply on here it is not required. Other companies have removed my data with a simple request.

I requested my personal information be remove from Peoplewhiz.com website. The site first asked me to enter my email address to confirm my email, then proceeded to request me to upload a copy of my driver's license. I never received the email invitation, so I sure wasn't going to upload my Driver's license to their website. I'm asking the website remove my personal information.

On May 18, during normal computer maintenance, my security software alerted me to my personal data being sold on the web. On the list is PeopleWhiz.com. So I contacted them on their opt out website, and requested that they remove my information. In order to do so, they requested I provide my personal identification. I received email from them confirming that I requested an opt out. Two days later, I found 9 websites selling my data, and now PeopleWhiz has me listed twice (instead of just once). It is June 8, and my data has still not been removed.I live in **********, and believe I have some protection towards privacy violations. Instead of removing my information as requested, peoplewhiz solicited my information and is selling it, even after I requested them not to.

The ********** Consumer Privacy Act does not cover the public records that Peoplewhiz provides. Even if it was covered under the ***** we do allow any individuals to remove their information from our database. We need to confirm the identity of the person requesting their information to be removed as there can be impersonations and a variety of listings that match their name. Confirming their ID streamlines the process from our end and is the most efficient way for us to remove this information. However, as a courtesy, we are able to remove the information of the individual without confirmation if they are uncomfortable further verifying their identity. In this case we have gone ahead and removed the listing from our database and they do not need to provide anything additional to complete the request. I do not see any listings in my database, but if you are still seeing listings you need removed, please send a screenshot. Thank you.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and although the business again inappropriately asks for my ID, I found that my info has already been removed due to a prior complaint.
Norton is still flagging this business, but since I can no longer find my info, I consider this complaint resolved.

May 16, 2023 our credit card was billed for $68.85. We had given our credit card and did some searches and then canceled online, not using the service after cancellation. We were shocked to see the charge on our credit card statement. I called the peoplewhiz customer support and was told we had signed up for a quarterly subscription and there was no way to cancel online, and that one had to call to cancel. There was no indication that we had committed to a quarterly subscription when we signed up, and further there was a way to cancel online, which I had done at the time. At the least we are looking for a partial refund as we only used the service for a short time.

On 7 June 2023, I received an alert from Norton/LifeLock that Peoplewhiz.com had and reported my personal information. Upon attempting to remove my information from www.peoplewhiz.com/optout, I was informed that I would need to provide a photo ID to prove my identity. Sorry..not sending a copy of my driver license to an address or uploading it online to some company I have never heard of. I understand that in this day in age, data brokers exist; however, others make it easy to remove our information. There is no reason for individuals to need to send sensitive information to random companies to have our personal information removed. I would like PeopleWhiz to remove my profileL ************************************************************************************************************************** I also request that my information not be sold to any other parties.

peoplewhiz is forcing me to upload an ID for them to remove records that contains details about me. Such info could be fraudulently used in credit applications and I am not comfortable upaloding info tp a company that has not asked for my permission in the first place to store and sell my personal info.It is time for congress to ban these companies and services and impose the heaftiest of fines on them. I am starting a public drive to that end.Thank you,*************************

I am writing to express my deep concern regarding the collection and storage of my personal privacy data by your company. I recently discovered that my private information is being held without my explicit consent, which is a clear violation of my privacy rights.Furthermore, I am astonished to learn that your company is now requesting a form of identification in order to proceed with the removal of my data from your database. This demand is completely unacceptable and further infringes upon my privacy rights. I firmly believe that a company should not have the authority to collect my personal identification information as a prerequisite for opting out of data collection. To provide you with visual evidence, I have attached an image file showcasing the page on your website where this request for identification is being made. Please review the attachment for reference.I hereby demand the immediate removal of all my personal data from your system, as well as an immediate opt-out from any future data collection or storage. This includes all information that has been collected, processed, or stored by your company without my explicit consent.I want to emphasize the urgency of this matter, as any further delay or non-compliance on your part would be considered a serious violation of my privacy rights. It is my sincere hope that we can resolve this issue amicably and without resorting to legal action.I expect a prompt response confirming the removal of my personal data and my successful opt-out from your data collection practices. Additionally, I kindly request that you provide me with written assurance that my personal information will not be shared with any third parties, and that you will take appropriate measures to ensure the security of my data. I trust that you will handle this complaint with the utmost seriousness and urgency it deserves.
