Like *** individuals who have made comments on the BBB, ****** alerted me to personal information for sale on the peopleWhiz website. Upon attempting to remove my information from their website I became concerned that my ID would need to be submitted in order to have information removed. Rather than uploading my *private* information, I contacted peopleWhiz customer service via phone -- I now regret not having done so via email or recorded line. While talking to the customer service representative I provided confirmation of information listed on the website profile (the one which appeared to have the most information) and email address in order to have my information removed via phone, rather than submitting the photo ID. Upon doing so and receiving verbal confirmation a request had been submitted to remove my information, I then requested to have all other profiles containing my information removed as well, and was prepared to provide information appearing to those profiles. When this request was made the customer service representative grew agitated, noting the "engineers who built the website would know to remove all information related to [insert first and last name]." When I explained that there were more than one [insert first and last name] in the world, that all information on their site solely having my first and last name would likely not be removed as this would then remove individuals with the same name but different beings who had not authorized such an action and therefore going against their removal "policy", I was greeted with phrases such as "the engineers know how this works and were smart to build it" and "[the engineers] know more than you." Having been grossly implied that I was not intelligent and the agent being incapable of providing detailed information regarding the website and act of obtaining my information to start, I noted concern of a fraudulent business and want to investigate further.Business Response

Hi ****,
Thank you for contacting us regarding your concerns. Peoplewhiz is a provider of over 67 billion public records. Our data architecture and proprietary technology allows us to search through the records and deliver results instantly to our customers. We do not have control of the public records available, but we do allow individuals to remove their name from the database. The driver's license is only requested to validate the identity of the individual requesting (there can be multiple people with matching names and cities) for their information to be removed and to help us with our monthly compliance review. I do not get any returns for ************** in Georgia - if you could please provide me with a screenshot of the listings you would like removed I will take them down ASAP and you do NOT need to provide an ID. Thank you in advance for your attention to this matter.
Best,
********

The return for my name in the state of Georgia (if this could be edited out of their response so it is not public, that would be great), as it has since been removed. There are however matches for my name and demographics in (2) additional states, which need to be removed. I would be happy to provide screenshots of these profiles so they can be removed once the company provides an email address where they can be reached appropriately.Business Response

PeopleWHIZ states they require a valid ID to remove my information from their site. This is unprecedented and I will not provide them with a copy of an ID. I demand they remove my information as is done with so many other sites.Business Response

I am trying to remove my personal data from their database. They want me to upload further personal information (an ID!) to do so. This is ludicrous. No other seller is personal data makes this request so you can have your personal data removed.Business Response

To remove my record, **** broker requires a current photo ID to prove who I am at my address. Company publishes incorrect information about me and when I request removal - they demand I upload my CA Drivers License. Absurd request that the other data brokers do not require. They will remove my sensitive info if I send even more sensitive document to them. What a ridiculous obstacle. They assume most people will just give up getting them to remove our records.Business Response

I keep trying to get my name removed from People Whiz, but they demand my driver's license to do so. In September, someone used the information from this site to try to open a line of credit in my name. I ended up freezing my credit. Their opt-out process offers no way to remove my info without providing my photo ID. I find this incredibly shady. I just want my info erased from this site.Business Response

My iPhone security, McAfee, led me to People whiz.com with over 200 leaks of my personal records information, and my family members! This is a blatant contradiction of everything this entity claims to protect! I want my personal information, and my familys information, removed immediately!Business Response

I have tried to remove my personal information from PeopleWhiz.com and its affiliated websites but they are forcing me to provide a copy of my ID. I would not like any more of my information out there - so I don't understand why this is a requirement. Please assist with this issue because I believe this is a gross violation of my privacy rights.Business Response

My Norton security software alerted me to sites where my personal information is being shown and or sold and People Whiz is one of them. While filling out the opt-out requests, one of the steps is to provide a copy of my ID. I am not comfortable uploading/providing my drivers license since I am requesting my information be removed from public searches in order to try to avoid any sort of scams, and I don't know if the request from People Whiz is a type of scam. I can provide the links to the information they have on me, as well as any other identifying information they may need to help with resolving my request/complaint. I would just like my information removed without having to upload my ID.Business Response

This website requires me to upload a government issued ID in order to remove my data from the site. As I am attempting to remove my data due to identity theft I feel this is unfair.
