I Have been paying this company to settle my and my husband's debts. They initally told me one price to settle (ONE monthly payment). They never indicated that the payments would change. They have only contacted and settled a few of the creditors. Now we have been contacted by two law firms serving us with papers because of lack of payment. We are scared, no money for court fee or attorneys. This has been a compete shakedown. I believe they settled low level account and then charge an astronomical amount to "settle" them.Business Response

My complaint covers the period from: 08/26/2019 to 10/23/2024 Clear One Advantage agreed to settle numerous credit card accounts negotiating for a lower settlement amount. All accounts have been settled except for one with: **************Currently ************* has a collection order that it showing up on my credit report which i was not aware of until my CR was pulled to refinance my house.I have had numerous conversations with ***************************** Clear One Advantage and ***************, (*************** is the company responsible for receiving payments from me into my account in order to make appropriate payments to my creditors), Attempting to resolve this issue of an alleged settlement with ************** Clear One Advantage should have documentation showing this account has been paid in full and settled. however i have not been able to get resolution to clear this charge off on my credit report.Business Response

I enrolled with the Clear One Advantage Debt Program on 6-23-2023. They set up a payment plan of $926 per month. I have received very little support from this company. They are paying minimum amounts to my creditors. I have been paying the same creditors myself. Two creditors that Clear One indicate they are paying have filed suit against me. I had to go to court with one of these creditors and I lost this case and now I have to pay this creditor myself. The second case is pending for later this month. Clear One indicates this creditor will accept payments of $797 per month for twelve months. I struggle to pay the $926 per month. I cannot and will not pay an additional $797 per month. I wish to withdraw from the Clear One Advantage program, I am making payments to the same companies that they are, so I will continue to do this and save all the fees that ********* is collecting and not paying my debts. This has been a nightmare for me and I want it to end. I want to be finished with Clear One and to obtain a refund of all monies they have collected from me. This company is clearly a predator and deserves to be permanently banned from doing business. If this is not resolved within 30 days, my next step is to hire an attorney.Business Response

Ive paid this business to help clear up my debt and over the past 2 years Ive paid about ***** and everytime I asked where did my money go and who they paid off they deflect. 10/18/22: I had a temporary financial hardship that was going to send my accounts into late status. To help prevent this, I entered into debt relief program with Clear One Advantage after being advised that I could pay it off early without any problems, which I am trying to do. I was not advised that I would be charged monthly fee of $8.35 to keep my holding account open with ***************, nor that I would be paying $1.50/phone payment for 5 accounts that were being paid $5/month. 8/26/24, I chatted with agent, ****, regarding the status of my settlements, as I had more than $7,000 in available funds without any significant payments being made (no more than $125/month to any creditor). Additionally, payments were being made late, further damaging my credit and sending 3 accounts into collections. No resolution was achieved. 9/6/24, I chatted with Agent ****** with the same concerns. Due to an administrative error on their part, they erroneously had one account waiting to be paid, though it was already settled. This was not resolved until 9/13/24. 11/2/24, I chatted w/ Agent **** to request an accurate list of future payments. He told me he would send a complete list via email. I never received it. 11/7/24, I chatted w/Agent Maryen to attempt to get these issues with my program resolved. Without resolution again, I asked to escalate the call to a supervisor. 11/8/24, I received a voicemail from ******** regarding the escalation. I attempted to call the manager who left a message regarding my escalation request, as I was unable to get them on the phone after several attempts. I have left voicemail messages but have not received a call back as of 11/13/24.11/12/24, I chatted w/ Agent Leumar after I made an additional $6,000 payment to my account that added to the already available $5200 sitting in my account that was further damaging my credit unnecessarily. ON 8/23 I entered into this debt resolution acct. Everything was fine until 8/24, when I notified them of a new auto debit acct, signed all their documents and sent all kinds of documentation of this change. In Sept they auto debited the old acct and O/D the acct. Have asked my O/D fee of $30.00 but to no avail. In Oct still w/the old acct the payment was Ret'd for acct closed. To this date they still have not chgd the act. Have signed subsequent papers but to this date, to no avail.Business Response

In August 2024, Ms. ****** requested to update her bank account on file, and we promptly sent her the necessary documents to sign. Unfortunately, we did not receive the signed documents back in a timely manner despite several attempts to communicate with her before her October deposit was processed. We are pleased to report that we have since updated her bank account and confirmed the receipt of the signed documents to ensure her deposits are now set up as requested. Although we do not believe this situation constitutes an error on COA's part, we understand the frustration it has caused and sincerely apologize for the inconvenience she experienced. As a gesture of goodwill, we have offered a refund for any bank fees incurred due to insufficient funds. We thank her for allowing us to resolve this and continuing to trust us through her debt-free journey.Initial Complaint

I signed up with Clear One Advantage in 2021, things were going well until 3 months ago. I had noticed that a large account from ************ went from "Paid in Full" to "Awaiting Communication". I called multiple times and did a Live Chat, multiple times, and FINALLY a *** told me that 2 payments from ************ had been returned to Clear One but no one could tell me why. Apparently it turns out that ************ changed the way they accept payments but Clear One didn't realize that due to negligence on their part and therefore my original settlement agreement was deemed null and void and ************ canceled the orginal settlement agreement. I chose to deal with ************ on my own after that due to *********'s negligence, but I also requested a partial refund of the settlement fees for the mishap on their part. They eventually agreed to the refund and I received $3215.95 for the refund that was put into my *************** account. Then, a couple weeks later, I noticed that the $3215.95 had been withdrawn form my *************** Account. I called Clear One and emailed ****** *****-Manager and I was told "oh yeah, we took our settlement fees that were owed on that account". I explained to them that there should be no more fees generated since the account was closed and taken off of my account and then I explained that I was owed the partial settlement fees due to what had happened. They didn't have much to say other than those were fees that were owed. I ended up closing my entire account with *********. I received a call from a ******, who was supposed to find out the specifics and get back with me. I have not heard from her since. Also, there has been money STILL continually taken out of my *************** account, even though on October 28th, 2024 I requested that account be closed and my remaining balance returned to me AND STILL MONEY IS BEIN SIPHONED OUT OF THAT ACCOUNT. I have yet to receive my remaining funds from ***************. I want my refund.Business Response

Regrettably, one of her creditors did not process the settlement payments as agreed, prompting us to spend considerable time trying to rectify the creditor's error before having to void the settlement and renegotiate. I was promised they don't collect fees until they settle a debt, that was a lie. . I had perfect payment history until I was advised to not pay so they could negotiate. That was my mistake... In October of 2023 I signed up with Clear One Advantage to manage debt settlements for me. I was in over my head trying to keep up with both loans and credit card payments as interest rates rose and payments became larger. Clear One set up a payment plan of $1516.60 to settle debts with 12 creditors. I did agree to their collection/settlement fees but it was not disclosed that these fees would be paid up front before any payments would be made to creditors. To date, Clear One is only paying $315 out of the $1516.60 to my creditors and keeping the other 79% to pay fees that they have set. Yesterday, I stopped payments with my bank to Clear One and called them to try to re-negotiate a new payment plan. They did remove 7 creditors where they had yet to negotiate any settlement, but refused to lower my draft monthly payment beyond $1150.00 per month. The *** threatened that if I ceased to pay the monthly draft the current negotiated settlements would be completely void and all of the money that I paid in fees would be lost to me. I am seeking compensation from ********* for some of the cost of the fees so that I can try and settle debts on my own. I feel completely duped by ClearOne Advantage in that they take advantage of people who are financially vulnerable and seeking help.Business Response

I enrolled in this program last year, I was making my credit card payments on time but was looking to consolidate my credit card payments into one. They told me to default on my payments so that they could negotiate with my creditors. My credit score went from being in the mid 700s to 500s. My credit card accounts are now closed but still not showing that any payments are being made to pay off the debt even though Im sending over $1000 to this company every month. In the end Im paying the same amount I would have for settled debt plus fees that I would have just to pay the credit off initially, its a complete scam. Plus I can never reach anyone regarding questions. My credit is now messed up and Im worried collections are going to come for me because they are not sending the money to my creditors like they told me would happen. I would like to discontinue my agreement with them and work directly with my creditors at this point.Business Response
