On July 3, 2025, I brought my 2021 Dodge Charger to Discount Tire at ************************************************* for a routine wheel balance and rotation. Before any service was performed, a technician informed me that one of the lug nuts broke while attempting to remove the wheel. The broken lug nut became seized inside the wheel hub, making the car undrivable.Despite acknowledging that the lug nut had a visible crack, the Discount Tire team disposed of the broken half, preventing any third-party inspection or verification. This destroyed critical evidence and left me with no ability to prove the condition of the part before the incident.I was referred to Fleet Response, Discount Tires third-party claims handler, and filed claim #*******. Despite providing all relevant information, including details of the incident and repair estimates, Fleet Response denied the claim, and Discount Tire has taken no responsibility.Due to the damage, I was unable to use my vehicle, which directly resulted in me losing my job. On July 5, 2025, I visited a ***** dealership for diagnostic and repair estimate. My quote came back at $5,400 for the necessary parts and labor to remove the seized lug nut, replace the wheel hub assembly, and restore the car to drivable condition.The damage clearly occurred while the vehicle was in Discount Tires possession, and the improper disposal of key evidence seriously compromised the fairness of the claims process.Desired Resolution:I am requesting that Discount Tire:Take full financial responsibility for the damage caused while my vehicle was in their care,Pay for or reimburse the full repair cost, estimated between $4,300 and $5,400, and Acknowledge the improper handling of the incident, particularly the destruction of evidence.Additionally, I am seeking compensation or consideration for the income loss and hardship caused by the car being rendered inoperable and the resulting loss of employment.Business Response

Your claims team has done an absolutely poor job being in contact with me. My representative ***** ****** told me on 07/10/25 that she would be in contact with me with an update within one business day. I had to call Fleet Response for ********************************* contact with her because she never answered the phone until she finally called on 07/21/25 only to leave a voice mail stating that they have decided that they and Discount Tire will not be liable for damages. I then tried reaching back out to settle this and AGAIN no answer and no call back. I want this resolved this week or I will be taking this to court. The incident happened on 07/03/25. I have a warranty coverage through discount. My tire was unable to be patched and they failed to order the replacement tire till I made two unnecessary trips up there. A second trip Monday 7/21/25 after I had dropped the tire off for repair or replacement. I got a notification the tire was ready and it wasnt. And another trip today 7/23/25 to find out where my tire was because I never received a call about it. They hadnt even ordered it like they said they did. They finally did this morning and promised I would be taken care of this afternoon they would call me when it was ready and they still didnt call the tire arrived at 3:30 pm and I called at 5 to task about it to find out that it had arrived at 3:30 no one had called me to tell me. Then while on the phone I asked about my tires being rotated and taken care of like what was agreed on Monday when I had dropped the original one off and was told that it would be no problem. Only for me to get the the location and them try to turn me away and say they couldnt take care of it after all like what was agreed upon. I spoke with the manager via phone because he apparently leaves everyday at 4:30 and he was not helpful to the situation either.Business Response

A total of ***** miles were driven.On 7/23/2025 I returned to the store to have them balanced and rotated ( Pre paid at mounting) for the 3rd time. ** refused to do the work. The tires were worn evenly; meaning the alignment was good. Of course they were worn! Apparently those tires should NOT be assigned an ****** mi warrantee but that is not the issue! Came In for a patch, told I had to buy new tires. Bought new tires, they told me they were the correct NEW size. They didnt fit and they damaged my inner tie rod with the extra weight. Had to come back 3 times before they admitted they sold me the wrong size. Then, they charged me another 400 dollars for the right size. Had to go to to corporate TWICE to even get an email from the store manager. Finally got partial refund, barely converting the damaged parts I had to replace. This refund took me 2 seperate trips to the store and 3 hours to get Over the course of 6 trips, and 8 hours over a week period, I finally got this resolved. This store is understaffed and Illequiped, causing obnoxious wait times and issues such as my case needing 8 hours to resolve. The fact it took 2 seperate calls to coporate to get this resolved is unbelievable.Business Response

My wife drives a ******************************************** one of the driver-rear part of the car. We saw the notice on the car that the tire pressure was low when driving. We immediately called our family and they recommended taking it to Discount Tire in ********** since it was nearby and they took it there also with their vehicles. The guy that looked at the car said that we needed to replace 2 tires because one had a nail and the other had wear and tear and should be replaced. We immediately tried to ask about the prices available. The person who helped us said they only had one tire brand in stock (that was the most expensive ********) and that I said was crazy. Then he recommended that we would have to change all the tires if we wanted to change the size. But the tires he showed us were only two brands and were the similar price which would of ended up costing us more. We got totally ripped off and it came out to $482.63 for 2 replacement tires and had no other choice. Then they made us wait nearly 2 hours and didn't get to our car until my wife constantly asked them when the car would be ready. An old lady said she waited several hours for her car and had called in prior, so she was also angry at the service. My wife pleaded with ****** at the ********** location asking why they had no other brands available and gave us the only expensive option available. ****** laughed at her and said he would only give her $20 cash but nothing else. ****** kept trying to point to his co-worker and said his co-worker paid $1,500 for his tires so we should be grateful we got a good deal. Very insulting and disrespectful to my wife. This was the worst experience we ever had and got completely scammed by Discount Tire and we want a refund. Spoke to Meng over the phone who contacted us from the ********** location. He said he is a senior assistant supervisor. He was unwilling to budge on the price and kept asking us what a reasonable price would be. We told him about half of what we paid would be reasonable, but he said ****** went down $20 and the best he could do was get us to paying $410 total. I let him know we are ****** members and prices on tires are much cheaper if we changed them there. But he didn't believe me and insisted I have to show him a picture with our phone so he could match the price. Again, this is the worst service we have ever experienced. If Discount Tire didn't want to refund us, then why bother contacting us? I can show prices we would pay at ****** but what good will it do if they refuse to budge on anything?Business Response

This Morning 7/3 I got a blown out tire off the 101 and Exit 64- Went right to discount tire for help and was greeted by ****, The technician/sales associate at Discount Tire (Talking Stick). While **** was inspecting my car outside, he immediately mentioned how "you want to replace these lug nuts for your spare, i know that you were able to use your tools to get them on, but you may not with further wear and tear.." I said I just want the tires that i need and he continued his walk through. Next he mentioned how i should replace my windshield wipers. I said "No thanks, bare minimum today. Just the tires".. He asked my mileage and when i told him, he said that he would take one of my tires off of my bill, as the set of 4 had not met the warranty mileage yet (20k/40k) When we got to the check-out desk to look over pricing and needs, **** added windshield wipers and lug nuts to my cart after i said I do not want them. This made me feel like I cant trust the franchise anymore. I repeated my need of just getting tires and he then said he would make me pay for my tire that he initially gave me free for $115 if I didnt buy the lug nuts for $88. He also did not add my military discount after I mentioned it and put me in a situation where I was backed up into a corner. I got no military discount, which is why i went there. and i was charged for something i did not want or need and bullied into it.Business Response

Date of transaction 6/03/25 total $206.36 I am demanding the business to fix the damage they have caused on my car. I have already filed a police report (after they denied taking accountability for the damage even though I have proof and it is clear that they are at fault) and I also deserve a refund for the service I paid for after such a terrible and dreadful-experience. I went in for a tire change and they gave me my car back with a damaged front bumper and a missing front license plate. My car went in perfect condition- it is a brand new car I purchased in November- with no damage to the body of the car. I went in for a simple tire change. The business claims to not have cameras when i demanded to see footage to prove that they damaged my car- which sounds ridiculous to hear that a business such as a tire shop doesn't have cameras. Therefore I had to proceed with filing a police report- after they refused to take accountability after a 2 week long claim with them and my own insurance company suggested that I continue to pursue a claim with the tire shop since it would be unfair for me to have to pay a deductible and increased rates as a result of their negligence. I am hoping filing a claim with you all will also speed up the process and give me the justice I deserve.I work very hard for my things, so the fact that a business could cause this type of damage and get away with it hurts me deeply. June 12, 2024 I had wheels and tires installed on my truck. The truck was driven no more than 1200 miles since the installation. The wheel studs were over torqued causing sever damage to my truck and most importantly ould have caused a accident or other safety issue.I am writing to formally request that my claim be reopened and approved based on the enclosed final documentation from a certified mechanic who performed a detailed inspection and repair of my vehicle following the wheel failure. The inspection findings clearly demonstrate that the damage was a direct result of improper service during the last installationperformed by Discount Tire. Key points from the report include:Broken wheel studs on the passenger rear axle and a missing lug nut on the driver's rear axle A cross-threaded spindle nut, confirming incorrect installation and torque procedures were not followed Brake shoes damaged and soaked in gear oil, requiring replacement due to damage linked to hub assembly failure Evidence of severely over-torqued lug nuts, which stretched and fractured the studs, causing failure of the wheel mounting system Irreparable damage to the hub pilot holes, requiring full replacement of the hub, brake drum, spindle nut, and all lug studs The technician concluded that the condition of the components and the nature of the damage are consistent with malpractice and neglect by the installer. This directly refutes your earlier position that the mileage between service and incident absolves Discount Tire of responsibility. I am writing in response to Discount Tires recent submission to the Better Business Bureau, which consisted of a generic, automated message that failed to acknowledge the specific details of my complaint. I respectfully ask that the BBB keep this case open and request a full and proper review from Discount Tire.
My complaint stems from a serious mechanical failure directly caused by improper installation performed by Discount Tire on June 21, 2024. I have submitted documentation, including a detailed mechanics report, which clearly states:
Lug nuts were over-torqued during the last installation, causing the wheel studs to stretch and fracture
A cross-threaded spindle nut was discoveredan indication that proper torque and installation procedures were not followed
The resulting failure damaged the wheel hub, brake drum, brake shoes, and other components, all of which had to be replaced
The mechanics findings conclude the failure was due to neglect and malpractice
In addition to the financial cost of repairs, this incident caused loss of business income due to my vehicle being out of operation for an extended period.
Discount Tires goodwill offer of partial reimbursement was made with a blanket denial of liability, despite the mechanical findings and supporting documentation. Their automated response to the BBB only adds to my frustration and further demonstrates a lack of genuine resolution efforts.
I am requesting:
Full reimbursement for the cost of repairs
Compensation for documented business losses caused by their service error
This complaint is not about goodwillit is about accountability and safety. I respectfully request that the BBB urge Discount Tire to review the case thoroughly, respond directly to the facts and documentation presented, and work toward a fair resolution.
