I took out a loan with Birch Lending. When I was ready to pay off the total amount owed they added another $1000 to my total and said it was interest. I asked them how did I accumulate that much in 2 days and they stated that's how their program works. I would pay over $3,000 for a $800 loan. I took out a $400 emergency loan from Birch Lending on February 10, 2025, to cover an unexpected veterinary bill. Prior to signing, I was not provided the full agreement or informed of the total cost of the loan. After signing, I discovered that the total repayment amount listed was $2,314.25, more than five times the original loan.Over the course of the loan, I made several payments and was eventually told I could pay $375.47 to close the account in full. I made that payment on April 21, 2025, and my total payments came to $682.69. Based on the timeframe from February 10 to April 21, this results in an annualized interest rate of ******% a rate I was not made aware of in advance.Birch Lendings practices are deceptive and predatory, and the true cost of the loan was not transparently disclosed prior to the agreement being signed.I am requesting:A fair repayment would have been between $427 and $446 based on a typical APR for personal loans. I am therefore disputing $236.66 of what I was charged and requesting that amount be refunded.Confirmation in writing that my account is considered paid in full No negative credit reporting An investigation into Birch Lendings practices for lack of transparency and potentially unlawful interest rates.Initial Complaint

This company is deceiving in advertising and keep sticking to we encourage our customers to pay off the loan as soon as possible. Ok so taking out 2 monthly payments out of my account is not a fast enough repayment? When I borrowed the $500, I payed 5 times an amount of $144.67 so thats well over the $500 I borrowed. When they say, just pay it off as soon as possible you figure that if 2 payments a month are being taken out, thats fast enough. ****. They gave me a pay off amount if I paid today of $491, so youre telling ***** $732 I have paid only a few bucks went to the actual loan? What? Got a loan for $1200 on 11/15/24 on the phone they said I was 24.7% interest. We agreed to pay $160 per week and havent missed a payment. The loan payoff amount according to my statement $1273.14 which should have been paid in about to months. Todays date is 4-17/2025 and I have not been able to access my loan document on their website until today after filing a complaint 2 days ago, and trying to get on the phone with someone all week, and no one answers. When I opened the loan document it said my interest rate was ******% which was NEVER mentioned, because I never ever would have taken a loan with that type of interest! I never agreed do it, or signed for that. Theyve taken thousands more than what the payoff was supposed to be, and I want my money back, and theyre still taking $160 a week! I cannot contact anyone from this company, and their chat is AI. On12/08/2024 I agreed to a loan in the amount of $600 , their website would not allow me to gain access no matter how many attempts for sign it, it claims to send a email link for password reset however this email never arrives, so verbal agreement is all that was taken place. I was told the first two payments would go to fees and the remaining payments would then go to principal, so this is a agreement to pay $324.00 in fees for the loan. I am now at a place where they have taken $1134 out of my checking account which has us at $534 in claimed fees/interest - the phone representative (as I still cannot log in) now is claiming this is a 10 month term which is meaning they are now saying I will be paying them a total in payments of $3,240 for a $600 loan. No way did I agree to that, and it was very tricky to use a tactic to claim I cannot access my account to view these "terms" $210 in over payment in original agreed terms, I will not be paying them any more as we have reached our agreed amount. I took out a 1200 loan through scratch pay and when the loan got deposited into my acct it was ********************** didnt think much of it at the time because of the time crunch I was in to get my surgery paid for and for some reason they decided to put me on a 10 months plan that would rack up ***** in interest which I told customer support I didnt want I want to get it paid within one - two months come to find out most of the payment I was making was going towards interest I call customer support again to see what the Intrest rate was and each time it was a different answer you guys are literally terrible when it comes to communication and that should be on u guys and not the customers same with how much I owed on the loan it was never just one answer finally I request a settlement it gets approved and u mean to tell me the my next payment cant go toward the settlement?!?!? Thought I was applying for the mobile loans which I have applied before and paid everyone of them off. Now this one Tolovana Financial: DBA Birch Lending told me I have a total of 32 payments (biweekly) on a loan of $1645.00 in which I have already made 6 payments of $308.00 biweekly. I have never heard that before. I have never paid $9000.00 for a $1645.00 loan. That is absolutely predatory lending. This is or should be against the law. This is why I am filing a compliant. I was never disclosed that information over the phone or through the email.
