Very Bad Experience with the CIBC Personal Deposit Products Department. They issued a mass letter this year on Feb 27 2023 – stating that I would be able to cash my Gic “without penalty”
Based on this information I went out and purchased a house with the money from the GIC. Offer to purchase went through, I put up a 40 thousand dollar deposit on the house. Agents, buyer, seller, home inspection an my legal people all settled on an amount. Something like 80 percent of the purchase price all tied up in the GIC. The letter they sent was extremely explicit as to who could cash in their GIC. It was me! I couldn't believe my luck. I had take the letter to my local bank to confirm that this was really happening. They are very nice people, so don't think it had anything to do with the branch.
I sat in one of their offices with the Financial advisor, and his assistant. They also wanted to get clarification. A few min's later, they had made phone calls up all the way up to the top of the above mentioned CIBC Personal Deposit Products Department. Yes they would honor the paper to the exact letter. I was promised my entire principal plus as clearly stated in the document "at no cost or financial penalty" to myself. We double checked and it was confirmed.
Then there was the Second letter that arrived after the closing on my house, at 15 mins before the end of the business day that my transaction was to take place. Saying without hardly any detail... just "we changed our minds".
To me this looks like they broke my contract with me, once with the first letter and once with the second letter.
I have been in discussions with them since the letter arrived. That was a month ago and it still not completely resolved. I have an email from one of the employees at the branch, not to worry that I'll be getting the principal back which if it really is true will mean that I will get to keep my house.

Always lineups with minimal bank teller reps yet lots of people sitting in their offices pretending not to notice the customer lineups! Mississauag Heartland and Square One are brutal

The bank machine had an error code and lost a thousand dollars of my money. It has been over a month and nothing except for a run around. Never use the bank machine when you want to deposit over 1000.00

The other banks my parents deal with were efficient and had it done within a week. Been with them for 25 yrs and as of lately I am considering leaving. Telephone banking has been down for over a month, online banking almost never has my mortgage data. The local branch literally never answers the phone, and when you leave a message they email you. I am so sick of the lack of service and their inflated rates on everything. I am going to shop for alternatives *** *** **** *** **** after a quater of a century... and I know they don't care.

I sent international mone draft from my
CIBC account in bank on Burrard street, downtown and my request was done very successfully by professional agent.
I am very grateful for his attention and kindness! I think his name is Joan.

**** **** ******** ******** **** ****** Had a dispute with regards to access to over 250,000 ******** points. Several CIBC Cards and Aventura agents gave me incorrect information resulting in the loss of access to the points. When I escalated to a manager they listened to the calls and agreed I was given the wrong info and that they would bring the matter to the attention of the appropriate departments for additional training. BUT I should have known that the info I was given was incorrect so too bad so sad, you lose your points.
