With my 6-month Marcus CD that recently matured. When I attempted to close it, I was informed that because I missed the 10-day grace ******* the CD was automatically renewed into a 1-year CD without my authorization.I understand that the policy states automatic renewal in the absence of payment instructions. However, I did not intend for this renewal to occur and now find myself needing to access these funds due to an emergency. The current situation imposes an early withdrawal penalty, which is particularly burdensome under the circumstances. I explained this to the account manager but was told there is nothing they can do about it.

I confirmed with Marcus two weeks ahead of closing on a new house that I would be eligible to use my account to make a wire transfer for my downpayment and escrow account. Come wire transfer day, Marcus informed me that I was not eligible for an escrow wire transfer (even though they offered the service) and would not tell me why or how I could become eligible. They simply said I could only wire my down payment to another bank account that I owned. This situation has now put me at risk to not close on my house on time because Marcus refused to offer me a service that they offer. We'll be closing all of our accounts with ******************** moving forward. Terrible terrible company.

I didn't know that I was dealing with a sub-par banking facility in a third world country when I invested in a CD with MARCUS/Goldman-Sachs. Getting the funds of my matured CD back from them seems to be close to impossible. After two hours of trying to figure out their website and chatting with an agent to arrange a wire transfer to my regular bank, I was told about technical difficulties making it impossible to do the wire transfer and that an agent would call me within two hours to arrange a different approach. MARCUS is set up to s**** customers by telling them that an online transfer can be done when the CD matures. Unfortunately , their website is not capable of doing that - the menus for this purpose are missing. So the CD is automatically renewed for one year and when a transfer is requested by chat the customer is immediately notified that a fee will be collected.I was not able to stop the renewal, since I was not properly notified. So after even just a few days , they already confronted me with this fee.... I am now waiting for the phone call and will add on to this complaint should I not get my money back today.

I don't know why I'm even bothering to add to the list of complaints. Marcus is clearly in the business of committing fraud but have been able to get away with it thus far. They routinely invent reasons not to transfer your money out. I was in the process of buying a house and they refused to transfer my money to an escrow. I called them to inquire about it and they claimed that my account doesn't qualify for escrow transfer but told me that they could not tell me what the qualifications are. They assured me that I could still transfer the money to my personal account in another bank and pay the down payment from there. When I tried to do that, they cancelled the transfer and didn't even notify me. I learned it from the other bank. When calling them, they said they couldn't tell me the reason they cancelled the transfer. To learn the reason it wasn't enough to provide 1. Full name 2. Account number 3. Last for digits of SSN 4. Secret word set up while opening the account They also asked for my license, but said that the license from my state was not acceptable. They said they could text me the code except having once switched carriers, my phone was also not acceptable. No resolution yet. I live in hope that one day I'll "qualify" to know the reason why I'm not eligible to use my money. Meanwhile, I'll be filing a complaint with CFPB (******************************************) and I urge others to do the same.

Goldman Sachs Marcus has gone from outstanding customer service/account access to "****************"/absolute worst. Weeks after a CD matured, I am still trying to obtain access to my funds - the company uses a variety of delaying tactics to avoid sending a check and would not allow electronic transfer.Have been a Goldman Sachs Marcus customer for many years, utilizing laddered CDs and savings account. The last CD in my account matured over seven weeks ago, and Marcus had a lame excuse about why they could not do an electronic transfer to my checking account that was already on file. Then the check never arrived. After spending literally hours on the phone a supervisor said a second check was issued. Then, later another person called and said that was not true and a new check had not been issued, and that I would have to fill out and notarize an affidavit before they could send a replacement check. I have mailed in the notarized form but heard nothing. The company claims that per the account agreement they have up to 90 days from the date of the original check issuance to issue a new check. Judging from the number of similar complaints about not paying out funds in a timely manner, a logical person could infer that Goldman/Marcus' business strategy has morphed into one of delaying payments to customers to earn interest on customer funds. Avoid **********************/******************** like the plague; they are unethical. I have not experienced any similar problems with competitors such as Synchrony and Ally.

Called on 05/07/2024 after receiving (and missing) a call from Marcus. The first woman I spoke to verified my information, but needed to transfer me to another department. The second woman in the department I was transferred to insisted they couldn't verify my phone number and became incredibly rude, talking over and arguing with me about the logistics of them being unable to verify my number or send me a four-digit code.I transferred to a supervisor and the supervisor, who was a lot more patient with me (as I was getting incredibly irritated), insisted she was the highest authority in the land, the call could not be escalated further and forced me to let her submit a case on my behalf for "verification" and that they may or may not call me back about it.The entire time, they refused to even tell me what it was about it and now I'm dealing with waiting 3-5 days to maybe or maybe not get a call to let me know what was actually going on with my account. That's a lot of maybe and unknown in a six figure account.Upon looking into it, it seems Marcus HYSA seems to have prolific problems with not letting people transfer money out -- specifically, they'll let you pour money in and fight you when you try to take it out, making it a horrible choice for a place to store your emergency fund.I suspect they contract their customer service out to third parties (at least they're contracting Americans) who use public databases for verification, rather than having secure access to Marcus systems. I have no problem with being verified via automated Marcus systems, only with the people running customer service.I don't really blame the people on the line for it, they're just working minimum wage jobs with evidently inadequate tools. It's a bad look on the bank, however, when people struggle to get access to their own money, or even information about possible problems with that money.I'll very likely be moving my assets out as soon as possible. A real disappointment.

If I could go back in time, I would not apply for Apple Card customer service is the worse, you are always on hold for over an hour and passed around to 4 different people before getting the correct department! When it comes to fraud they handle it with no kind of urgency. And God forbid you are unable to access your iCloud information, they pretty much cannot help you with anything from there. Not even to send a confirmation email on a payment. Please consider before ever applying for an Apple credit card.

Today 4/22 Marcus called me and informed that I cant make full amount to BoFA .Marcus requested me to cancel transfer initiated on 4/19.So They want to split money to different source ***************************** representative on phone 4/22 basically said "Apologize, Other Marcus representative gave you incorrect information on 4/19" Now Transfer cancelled but money neither my external nor Marcus accounts. Marcus caused delay on my close out for home buying process and I lost $5K .

SCAM!! FRAUD! THIS COMPANY IS OUT OF MONEY!! THEY WILL BE IN BANKRUPTCY SOON!! I have called over and over and told that they will transfer my money out in "3 business days." This is my 10th call in 2 weeks. There is always a new excuse. Calls are regularly dropped on their end. They clearly don't have the money and get dinged if they let a customer withdraw money. PONZI SCHEME!! STAY AWAY!!!
