I am writing at 3am as I am so angry. Up again in the middle of the night due to a false alarm. The company that renovated our house installed these. About a year or so into having them, one by one, they began chirping at night. (Why always in the middle of the night?!?!) One by one we have unhooked each smoke alarm because there seems to be no way to stop them. We have tenants and an interconnected system so disturbing 2 households and their sleep. Do not buy this system or this brand unless you want to be woken up by chirping and/or full-on blaring noise in the middle of the night. These claim a 10 year battery life. False. Im done and will be replacing this system and the units as soon as I can in the next few days

I have had multiple quantities of different units fail over the past five years- the standard unit, the 10 year unit and the combo smoke co2 unit- the last still technically works but the volume has become extremely low regardless of new batteries. First Alert is the only option at all my local hardware stores. I see many other people are experiencing this but the only place I can find this issue recorded is on this page which is buried 4 pages deep on any search I do about First Alert products. A collection of fails like this in the area of safety product manufacturing is pathetic.

As with others here, in my experience First Alert smoke detectors do not last anywhere near the 10-years they claim. Two of ours ran out of battery power in well under 5 years' time. By integrating the battery, they force you to replace the entire unit, rather than do a relatively inexpensive 9-volt battery replacement, like other brands. It's a scam, in my view.

The worst. Our builder put First Alert alarms in our renovated house. Not even a couple of months later, they began chirping. One by one, theyd chirp and Id have to take them out of the ceiling because they wouldnt turn off. Even out of the ceiling, theyd continue to chirp. It was incredibly frustrating.I called First Alert twice, and both times they sent me new units. These failed as well! One began chirping literally as soon as I connected it. Its not the electrical in my house. Its not dust. Its the alarms.Tomorrow, I have a company coming to replace my entire system and unitsto a different brand. My neighbour is also having the same issue with hers, FYI.

We cannot recommend this company. This company uses deceptive and dishonest practices and their salesmen are so poorly trained that they cannot be trusted to give reliable information. We tried the standard pendants and the *** pendant in a remote area where cell service is not always reliable. We were misled by the salesman as to what the system was capable of. We were told that with the *** unit, we would be able to locate our mother if she wandered. The salesman told us that he has personally helped family locate loved ones himself with the *** pendant. In subsequent conversations with customer care and the billing department, this was confirmed to be completely untrue as it is not possible for Life Alert to locate the *** pendant. It must be activated by the user in order for the pendant to be located. In the case of memory patients that wander, the promise made by the salesman is cruel and unsafe. The salesman also assured us there would be absolutely no charge if the system didn't work. We specifically asked about installation and setup charges and any "re-stocking" fees. The salesman assured us that all charges would be refunded and we would pay zero if the system did not work for us. Instead, we were charged $197 for the equipment set-up and shipping and $64.42 for the first partial month service. After we returned the unit (which we did immediately), we were told that none of that was refundable (we did end up getting this company to agree to refund all of the money, after several phone calls and discussions with higher level managers). Overall, this was simply a terrible, frustrating and time consuming experience. As others have said, First Alert is the most expensive service out there, with a long term contract that is very difficult to cancel. Here's a site which reviewed First Alert. We found it too late: ***************************************************************************************************************** Stay away from this company.

Only had the First Alert Model PC1210 for one year when it went off. It was summertime and a window was open with a fan blowing fresh air in, so no smoke or high level of CO2. As mentioned by other the only way to turn it off is to deactive it (with no way to reactivate it). What a waste of money.

I purchased and installed 8 Model P1210 10 years battery smoke detectors. Installed them all 3/4/2019 and since then 4 of them have false activated, all in the middle of the night. The only way to get them to stop is to deactivate the switch. I will be taking down the other 4. Do not buy this product, horrible product.*****

My 10 year smoke detector failed after just 3 years. Ive had several First Alert 10 year alarms all failing way short of 10 years.

************* did contact our support center on 7/17/2023. Since the alarm was advising that it recognized a fault within itself by giving the 3 quick chirps- we immediately placed a no charge warranty order for him. That replacement shipped to him on 7/19/2023.We apologize for the inconvenience, however we stand by our products and their warranty.
