They say they protect you from fraud and insurance is placed on your account if your defrauded yet I noticed an transaction that wasn't made by me, they declined my claim saying I didn't protect my pin and now I'm out $400 .
Will be changing banks to a credit union

Been a client in excess of 40yrs, attempted to obtain a mtg, when I have in place 50% down.
They said no, that I couldn't afford such. This with 50% equity? Then they direct me to a corporation that charged me 30K just to obtain the funds, in that the interest payments are 2K above what I should be paying. And the payment are 8K per month, and do not go against the loan, solely interest. I have lost in excess of 50K !!! When I should have just been provided customer service, and not be put in this position.
CIBC actions have almost placed me and my family into insolvency. For almost 2 weeks since, they do not even reply to my concerns.

I've had an account with CIBC for a bit over two years now - not my first bank account mind you, I'm over 40 - but I have to say the one thing that bothers me most is their dismal server quality. I'm tired of having bounced payments because of their constant server and website errors and "maintenance" that doesn't seem to fix anything and always happens at the worst possible times.
Today their e-transfer system is down - again. Their initial time for returning to service was 11am ET. It's now 1pm ET - which means I'm unable to get money into an account that is used entirely for autopayments on a vehicle, which they will no doubt dock me another penalty fee for.
As soon as I'm done with this vehicle loan, I'm closing my account. This company needs to be held accountable in some form *** ***** **** ** ********** in handling Canadians finances.

Can't seem to talk to anyone by phone to resolve an online banking issue despite hours of digging through their online resources to fix it myself, without success. I have tried calling at least 3 times, and have had to give up on them when hanging around listening to on-hold music cannot continue any longer. We have a life to get on with. I wasted 1 1/2 hours today, and have lost hope.
Over 30 years with their credit card. Now looking for another bank or credit union that may actually care. I've had enough of this.
My online banking issue with CIBC continues, with no apparent way to remedy. Shame on CIBC.
      I'm done.

Opened a CIBC Smart Banking for Business Account for my small business and it's been nothing but problems and terrible customer service.
I was on hold for 45 minutes for a technical issue with their portal only to be transferred to 3 different agents and then transferred out to a 3rd party customer service helpline to begin the process again.
I'm able to take deposits into my account with no issue (of course) but when I tried to transfer money OUT to pay bills, there was no option to do so. When I called customer service, they said I have to write a letter requesting e-transfer services and then transferred me to a dead phone line for support.
I am being charged for all deposits AND withdrawals alongside my account fees, which they've justified because "it's a tax write-off".
Do yourself a huge favor, save yourself time and money if you're a small business owner and AVOID this bank. Needless to say, as soon as I can access my money, I'll be moving my business to another bank.

It is absolutely horrible...my mother is 81 years old *** * **** *** ***** * ****** and this 3.5 hour wait is the best they can do...despicable.

****** forced a CIBC credit card on us when they changed over from ******* ***. I went to a branch in person to pay it off last summer and close the account. Months later and we're now receiving a bill for 7 cents. Telephone call with CIBC and I have to go back IN PERSON to pay this 7 cents or they will keep billing us. We will never use this bank again. ******* *** ************

Very Bad Experience with the CIBC Personal Deposit Products Department. They issued a mass letter this year on Feb 27 2023 – stating that I would be able to cash my Gic “without penalty”
Based on this information I went out and purchased a house with the money from the GIC. Offer to purchase went through, I put up a 40 thousand dollar deposit on the house. Agents, buyer, seller, home inspection an my legal people all settled on an amount. Something like 80 percent of the purchase price all tied up in the GIC. The letter they sent was extremely explicit as to who could cash in their GIC. It was me! I couldn't believe my luck. I had take the letter to my local bank to confirm that this was really happening. They are very nice people, so don't think it had anything to do with the branch.
I sat in one of their offices with the Financial advisor, and his assistant. They also wanted to get clarification. A few min's later, they had made phone calls up all the way up to the top of the above mentioned CIBC Personal Deposit Products Department. Yes they would honor the paper to the exact letter. I was promised my entire principal plus as clearly stated in the document "at no cost or financial penalty" to myself. We double checked and it was confirmed.
Then there was the Second letter that arrived after the closing on my house, at 15 mins before the end of the business day that my transaction was to take place. Saying without hardly any detail... just "we changed our minds".
To me this looks like they broke my contract with me, once with the first letter and once with the second letter.
I have been in discussions with them since the letter arrived. That was a month ago and it still not completely resolved. I have an email from one of the employees at the branch, not to worry that I'll be getting the principal back which if it really is true will mean that I will get to keep my house.
