BBB received a significant volume of complaints against this business in a short timespan. This influx of complaints prompted an internal investigation of the business’s practices. Based on BBB’s review, it appears this business offers home security systems and markets their products and services using door-to-door sales practices. BBB sent correspondence to the business by email on September 22, 2020. Our letter requested the following:

• Information concerning where the business is physically located. BBB currently lists an address of 1623 Central Ave Ste 18 Cheyenne, WY 82001. BBB understands that this is a commercial registered agent’s location and typically not a physical place of business.
• A list of all website URLs the business operates.
• Contact information for the owners/officers of the business.
• An explanation regarding Lifeline’s affiliation with various home security and financing companies.
• Samples of customer contracts, agreements or documents requiring customer signatures.

A Lifeline Smart Home representative responded to our initial letter on September 23, 2020 to which BBB replied with additional questions and requests for clarification. The business responded again on September 29, 2020.

Lifeline’s collective responses indicated that the address we have on file is an accurate mailing address but they would not provide any additional information concerning where they are physically located because they have, “adjusted with Covid and all of our plans adjusted with it. We follow Covid guidelines, travel a lot, and often work remotely.”

They indicated that joinlifeline.com is the only website operated by the business.

Lifeline would not provide names or contact information for the principals and/or officers of the business and instead, asked that we “respect these contact preferences.”

When asked to clarify their business model and various relationships with other businesses and to clearly define what products and services they offer, the business responded by saying, “Will be adding many services and features in the near future; however, we put capabilities, features, and benefits at business and home owner's fingertips, with technology that operates devices, through a framework for resellers.”
