I had signed up for anytime fitness on approximately 6/8 as I had moved to the area and was in the process of getting my apartment together for me and my roommate and the club was barely 1 minute away from my apartment. I read the contract in its entirety before signing. Unfortunately due to unforeseen circumstances that led my roommate I was supposed to sign the lease with, that fell through and I was forced to move back with my parents for the time being. My parents being over 2 hours away in ******* from Oregon **. In the contract it states If during the original term of this contract you relocate more than a 15 mile radius from the ***** you may cancel this contract by providing a 30-day written notice and proof of relocation. I contacted the club with a 30 day notice to terminate my contract due to moving 130 miles from the club I had signed up for. I also provided them with proof of my new address via my car insurance bill. I also paid the fee of $58 to settle my balance even though I had been to the club only a handle of times to go tanning. Which is when I was told by the manager ******* that I am still responsible for paying the $250 cancellation fee. I stated no, that is a breach of the contract because it states if you move more than 15 miles away you may cancel your membership. She stated that because there is an Anytime Fitness less than 15 miles from my parents, a club that I DID NOT sign up for and would not be signing up for due to the fact that I had originally signed up for the ****** one, because it was about one minute away from my house, and extremely convenient as it was literally on my way home from work. Due to the fact that there was an Anytime fitness location located close to my parents house. I would still have to pay the fee which is absolutely not in the contract at all. it has been a HUGE hassle and struggle to cancel. I sent back the cancellation paperwork and have not had any responses. I need my membership cancelled immediately
