1 starI sincerely wish I could CHOOSE a BBB rated business. I believe there are specific reasons they choose not to be accredited. Alliant Energy is a terrible corporation. They have some wonderful people working for them, but as a business, they are one of the worst of the worst. Times in this economy are not the easiest at all right now, yet Alliant themselves choose to charge **** customers right about 30% more per kWh than other energy company customers are having to pay. Don't take my word for it, this has been documented in news organization reports, not my own research. This January for example, I paid over $100 more for my bill even when I used LESS power than the year prior. I've reduced my consumption, easing their load, yet I am paying significantly more per month, and its not a small significant difference. I've had winter months with bills over $900. My problem is that all of my appliances, including heating, water heater, and cooking are all electric. This seems to be what the government wants for the "cleanest" energy, yet this is exactly where Alliant chooses to bend their customers over and hit them the hardest. And the best part? Their rate increases are STILL NOT DONE!!! They will tout their easy "bill pay options" allowing you to stretch your "high usage months" cost over the 12 months of the year. Sure, that may be convenient enough, but it just takes the reasonable energy cost months and makes them also exhorbitantly expensive, and harder to keep food on the table and keep my kids in the activities they've been able to enjoy all these years prior. They've been subsidized with government (aka you and me) money for all of these eyesore windmills for "green energy", not to mention solar installs, and rather than fixing issues, chose to shut down the only true carbon free power in the state- ***** ****** in ****. 1 star0 stars! Alliant energy are crooks out to steel the money of hard working Americans. Me and my family have experienced nothing but issues with Alliant Energy. I Was paying for service at an apartment and moved out over a year ago, and I had to pay the total off before I could shut my account down and was told I would have no other payments. Now it is a year later, and I am Receiving a collections bill from them stating that I owe them money. This is absolutely unethical and completely unappropriate. We really need to get some different energy companies in the Wisconsin area because Alliant Energy is a joke. I am so disappointed and Will never recommend Alliant Energy to anyone!Alliant Energy Corporation

We apologize for this customers frustration; however, the situation was thoroughly investigated by a senior member of our customer support team. The customers last payment posted to the account 13 days prior to the customer requesting that the service be terminated. Our Distributed Generation team received needed documentation from the customer on Friday November 22nd. 5 starsI am so impressed with Alliant Energy. We live in *********, **. During the derecho a few years back, i dont think we even went a night without power when the rest of the surrounding areas with different power companies were without power for 3 days.Last week, the power went out a little after 8am on Friday when many were working from home. The transformer had blown and had 3 flames from the top of it. Within a half hour after i heard the fire trucks, we had power again - over an hour sooner than their estimated restoration time.They had a planned outage this morning around 6am to replace that transformer, had told us it would be out for about ten minutes. The estimated outage time they texted today was about 1-2 hours. It was literally out for under 5 minutes!Again, i am just very impressed with their knowledge and efficiency. 1 starPeople at Alliant energy will not even send out an application for new service to a new residence! It's called pass the buck I've spoke to 2 different representatives the second said he was mailing out the application...still waiting. Spoke to a third person today. Guess what? 1 starBad customer service been out with out power all after noon. They won't tell us why and there eta to getting back on keep changing start April 16,2024 power went out at 4:28 pm eta was 7:45 change it to 9:30pm then 11:30 pm now its saying 9am April 17 2024. When I called ask why it's taking so long cause I have my elderly mother living with me and she need the power for her oxygen machine run while she sleep they didn't answer question just that this was unexpected. Then I ask lady why not get another crew out there help first crew she responded we are working on as fast and safe as possible. Then she got very rude with me when I ask why the eta keep changing she would respond. So I ask to speak to supervisor she told me no supervisor aren't working now. And they will have 1 call me 2 morrow. So now I got take my mother to hospital make sure she stay alive and my food going spoil cause they are taking so long to do the job and they refuse contract the ground crew find out what is taking so long.Alliant Energy Corporation

1 starI was notified that my gas meter needed replaced. My appointment was for 2:30, when the appointment was made, I was told it would take one hour. I had to leave work early for this appointment as they don't work any later in the afternoon. When I arrived home at 2:30/left work at 2:20(it takes 7 minutes to get home) Alliant had already been here swapped out the meter & left a tag on my door to call and have my pilot lights re-lit. When I called the 800 number, another work order had to be placed and I was told it would be up to two hours before someone could come re-light my pilot lights & that my actual appointment time was 2:15.....so it took them less than 15 minutes to swap out a gas meter......hard to believe. (In my opion)Very poor service.... they forget who was paying their wages & who is the customer. I have always paid my Alliant bill on time, auto withdraw directly from my account. Therefore, to me this is very poor service. The fella who come to re-light the pilots was super nice. Thus the only reason for one star.Alliant Energy Corporation

1 starCharging for bill we already paid. Have proof that it was paid. Emailed it in. Still waiting. We have been fighting this since September. They claim that their computer system " returned " the money to our bank account. We emailed in our bank statements to prove it wasn't sent to us.
