1 starI recently moved out of my apt. I deep cleaned the apartment and left it in great shape my entire tenancy. Upon moving out, I was never asked if I wanted to do a move out inspection with the property manager which I figured they would’ve reached out after putting in a NTV on the steps. No interaction with them until the pre move out inspection. I was not home so I couldn’t ask anything as this company is already impossible of getting ahold of. I received my itemized letter and in that letter it stated they charged me $80 for drip pans.. $80 for basic wear and tear of something that gets discolored naturally regardless what you do with it. Then they also charged me for carpet replacement for the ENTIRE apt which was so uncalled for. They also put (pending charges) which is ridiculous because now they may charge me more even after they completed my itemized list without me being a witness to it. No pictures, no invoices, nothing. I’m suppose to just take their word while take my entire security deposit plus add an additional $1000…. this company is terrible and will suck every penny out of you! Not to mention there was never any smoke detector in my apt either until the month before I moved out.Review fromSabrina J

1 starBack in Late February we moved out of our unit. We notified Northern Management that we’d be moving out the required 30 days before doing so with confirmation from our property manager and a confirmation email from the renter portal. Come March, we get a notice that our rent payment for the month is late and if we do not pay we will be evicted. I attempted to call to clear up that we were already not living there but couldn’t get a hold of anyone so we figured it was an error on their part. April comes and we get a letter in the mail asking for us to pay for the month of March yet again. We try reaching out to the property manager for clarification, but get no response. We assume it is an error that they will fix. Now we’re at the end of May and we have just received a new email stating we have until June 26th to pay or they will escalate to collections. We attempted to reach out several times and gotten no response from any avenue. We notified Northern Management of our intent to no longer be tenants on January 31st, 2025. We stated we would be moving out the weekend of March 2nd which gives the necessary 30 days notice required in the lease agreement. We have confirmation from our property manager, of this. On Friday February 28th we vacated the apartment and surrendered our copy of keys. We also have confirmation of this through messages from the property manager. We did everything we should have in this scenario. They have continuously dropped the ball and any time we try to get this solved, as it’s their mess up we’re left hanging. Don’t rent from this company, there’s a reason they have an F rating on here.Northern Management LLC

Hello *******,Thank you for taking the time to leave your ********** like to clarify the situation regarding your move-out notice. On February 1st, you submitted your notice to vacate with a move-out date of March 2nd. As outlined in your lease agreement under Month-to-Month Tenancy, a tenancy can only be terminated at the end of a rental period, which runs from the first to the last day of a calendar month. Therefore, you were contractually responsible for rent through the end of March.Although you vacated the apartment earlier than stated, we did not receive an updated written notice reflecting this change. When you first reached out to us, we confirmed with the property manager that you had indeed moved out prior to the stated date. As a gesture of goodwill, we refunded the full rent charges for March. Please note that your original notice still indicates March 2nd as your intended move-out date. We strongly encourage all residents to ensure their notice to vacate accurately reflects their actual move-out date to prevent any confusion or potential charges in the future.Thank you again, and we wish you all the best moving forward.Review fromJonathan S

1 starWorst company I have ever dealt with. I live in ********* WI in a 55 and over complex. Northern took over may 15 this year. My lease came up and needs to be signed by end of this month. The price was increased 47% and they are raising all rentals to one price. This means that a 558 Sq ft apartment is the same price as ones that is 810 Sq ft. How is this fair? Many of us could be homeless soon. If I could leave no star rating I would.Review fromBrenda and Bruce D

1 starMy complex was acquired by Northern Management last year. There was an initial inspection done on EACH unit, and the brand new property manager was rude and said she knew me, and never forgets a face. I've no idea who this woman was. Still don't. Every single time I've had to speak with her on the phone she is highly unprofessional, and likes to hang up on tenants. She had said that my bathtub would be replaced, a year later we are on year 5 of having a cracked tub basin. I asked for a new AC unit since the one we've got retains water, and constantly smells of mold, and likes to leak sludge outside. I've got black mold in the larger bedroom from the previous tenant having a water leak for many years which was never addressed by the previous management system. The carpet in my unit is closer to 20 years old, as it was never replaced before my children and I moved in almost 8 years ago. You can see where the carpet had been patched before I moved in. It's very difficult to express how upsetting it is for myself and the other long term tenants to call, or email Tara on anything. She's very rude and hostile at all turns. And the fact that the corporation she works for allows this treatment of the people who are paying good amounts of money for their homes is just absurd. I've kept all records of emails to even prove that I go above and beyond in how polite I am with Tara. And the fact that the rent is being increased for these particular buildings is insane. Yes, I do recognize that they are currently doing rehab work on empty units. They are becoming more beautiful, which is appreciated. So why not move the long term tenants in vacant redone units so theirs can be done first?? I've severe health issues, and the black mold in my bedroom prevents me from sleeping in there for the last 3 years, which previous management knew, and they also did nothing to correct this. I would not be giving even this one star rating if it was allowed. I hope moving forward, that this helpsReview fromAmie C

1 starRude, unkind, and down right selfish is what i have experienced. They are mainly concerned with making money. I have had my contract changed mulptile times since living here 3 years and my rent raised almost two hundred dollars. They know i am a single mother on a fixed income but they do not care. Money is their main concern. They have given me a month to either move out or agree to have my rent increased another 100 dollars. Even though they received a large sum for covid, they continue to exploit their tenants and raise prices with short notice and no warning. Not to mention the black mold i had in my aparment for almost a year and was told it was due to me smoking or dust.... which was not true. They expected me to buy a dehumidifier and clean the problem on my own when i was pregnant with my youngest son. When i kept cleaning it and it kept coming back they finally aknowledged it was black mold. They did not professionally clean it. Only tols me it was coming from poor isulation from the attic and the out dated windows which were both out od my control. They did not apologize for their mistake only covered it up as best they could. They must have had someone seal something in the attic to stop it seeping into my olders sons room. I am outraged out apathetic this company is. Putting the bottom line over peoples well being and lives. My God have mercy on them.Review fromDillon P

1 starCan I give a zero star? Landlord was super nit picky and drained everything from my security deposit. Looked for anything and everything to take from my security deposit. They took $600 to repaint the apartment for small holes in wall from pictures and lights. If youre thinking about moving in, DONT, and if you do, dont put up any pictures, or hang anything from the wall. I also suggest not eating anything the entire time youre there or just make sure every single crumb is picked up or they will hit you with a $200 cleaning charge.Review fromSharissa B

1 starUsed to be a great place to live, has only gone down hill since Northern Management bought the property/properties from Goodletson.Constant change of apartment managers, never meet them now. Impossible to get a hold of a person through the website or calling their number. Always snippy or rude, and always raising costs or charging for every little thing. Not to mention adding rules that do not need to be added or addressed because they are not major or minor issues which would indicate a new rule to be put into pratcice/motion.
