2 starsThey entice you in with low rates and great promises. If you use the insurance they start bumping up the rates. I have gone fron $50 per month to my latest increase to over $210 per month. I would not recommend Healthy Paws to anyone.Healthy Paws

We understand no one likes any form of premium increase. Premiums do not increase based on claims submission--it's not your fault if your pet gets sick or injured. We appreciate you reaching out to our customer care team. Per your request, our team has provided detailed information regarding the calculation of your premium.Review fromCarol M

Were sorry that you were not satisfied with your plan. We do our best to be transparent throughout our website, during the enrollment process and in the plan documents available to each client in their online Healthy Paws account regarding the limited exclusions of our plan. Those exclusions are pre-existing conditions, preventative/routine care and the office visit fee (vet exam, emergency exam, recheck or consultation). Anyone visiting our website can see this information on our Benefits, Coverage and Exclusions page. The Healthy Paws pet insurance plan covers a pet from head to paw. The health insurance plan pays on your actual veterinary bill and covers new injuries and illnesses, emergencies, genetic conditions and much more. If a pet needs treatment for a new accident or illness (except pre-existing conditions), they're covered.Review fromRoss P

1 starI guess pet insurance companies can charge whatever they want but as more and more people like me get burned, their business will die. When my healthy dog turned 11, our Healthy Paws premium went from $90 to $240/month. We have paid in over $10k in premiums over the life of our dog and then they pull this. I would suggest not buying their insurance because theyll take youre money when your pet is young and healthy and then make it so financially onerous when they get older (when they might have to actually pay a claim) that you then cancel. Shame on me for being so naive to think that Healthy Paws would reward loyalty and longevity of service. An almost 300% increase is unreasonable, unethical and has left a really bad taste in my mouth. I will do my best to tell everyone I know about my experience and dissuade them from getting a policy with Healthy Paws. Dont make the same mistake we did. Stay away!Healthy Paws

1 starThey will more than double your monthly premium. Definitely would not recommend this company. We currently pay $87/month for our 8 year old and they increased to $200/month more than doubling his premium . He has only had minor claims. Theyre increasing our 6 year olds monthly premium by $20, which seems reasonable. More than doubling a monthly premium is not right. I would steer clear of this company.Healthy Paws

1 starWe've been using Healthy Paws for our two dogs' insurance for several years now. Their rate hikes become pretty unbearable once you start using the insurance. So we're adjusting to that extra expense, and today we get a letter from them noting that they'll be adding a 2.99% credit card surcharge fee to our account unless we pay via ACH. Considering the rates they charge and their affiliation with a vast conglomerate (*************), which brought in over 55 billion dollars in revenue in 2024, they should be able to cover credit card fees.Healthy Paws

*************** fees are a common practice across many industries to help cover the costs associated with digital processing. The fee only applies to credit or debit card transactions. We recognize that processing fees may be seen as an inconvenience, which is why we are pleased to offer, as an alternative, payment by direct bank transfer (ACH). If you set up payment by direct bank transfer (***), the fee will not applyReview fromDonna H

5 starsI enrolled my dog in 2019 when she was a puppy. She since had an accident and needed surgery, another surgery and hospitalization for a ******************** and hospitalization for a serious illness. I have found Healthy Paws to be excellent. It's very easy to submit a claim and their reimbursement is very quick and efficient. So far my experiences have been very positive.Review fromCalin B

1 starBEWARE: Requiring full medical history for every claim Have used this insurance for a few years now, their service level has gotten much worse. For every claim we make now, they are requiring to send full medical records for the pet for the pet's entire life -- even if they already have the records because they made us send them previously!!!Our pets have been with healthy paws since we adpoted them (at 8 weeks), we provided their adoption visit records and have provided full medical records multiple times now. But to complete any new claim they are requiring us to send the same full medical history every time...Getting very time consuming to use this service and we will look for another - too bad they were good to us for years.Healthy Paws

We're sorry for any frustration during the processing of your claims. Although we have full medical records for one of your pets, we do not have the complete records for the pet with the claim in question. While we do have some history on file, it is not the complete medical history. Once full records are received, we will keep them on file for future claims processing, and you will never have to submit full records again. In the future, if we do need clarification for a specific claim, we may simply request the date of service exam notes for that visit. Our customer care team has reached out on your behalf to get the missing records and would be happy to do so again. Once received, we can gladly continue with processing.Review fromTom F

1 starBad experience. Left after 3 months for our 2 young pups. It wasn't expensive, and they answer quickly, it's just that their default reaction is to deny your claims immediately. Then they often give an explanation which doesn't match the reason for the denial they give you on the phone. Maybe they just spin a wheel. I didn't like the experience and I'd recommend trying a different company.Healthy Paws

Were sorry for any confusion regarding the determination of your claims. In addition, we make every effort to inform pet parents regarding plan waiting periods. There is a waiting period of 15 days after your policy effective date. Unfortunately, we could not cover the claims for your pets since they fell into either one of the plan exclusions or during the plan waiting periodReview fromLinda I

1 starI insured my dog with Healthy Paws when I first adopted him - approximately 12 years ago. I purchased an illness/injury policy for peace of mind as he got older, understanding that I needed to purchase it when he was young in order to avoid coverage issues based upon preexisting conditions.I just got his annual renewal, increasing his monthly premium from $119.28 to $344.39 per month. I never would have purchased this policy and paid premiums for 12 years had I realized that once he reached an age that I might anticipate needing to use it the company would increase the premium nearly 300% to a rate that is beyond my means. The business model has been made quite apparent; I wish I had understood it sooner and I do regret paying into it for the past 12 years.Healthy Paws

1 starHonestly just really sad and disappointed. I got Healthy Paws the day I brought my dog home as a puppy. He is now 7. I never had an issue with a claim when he was a puppy, it was very easy to use the app and my claims were approved and paid out very quickly. I recommend them to literally anyone I talked to that just got a pet. I only used the insurance the first year or so and then I never had any expenses from the vet after that that was more than my deductible so I haven't filed a claim in like 5 years. I never filed anything too big, no surgeries or anything. When I first signed up it was around $45 a month. Over the past 7 years it has gone up to $118 a month. That's not as huge of a deal as I expected it to increase although it was higher than I imagined it would get. Anyway, I never missed a payment and then in December 2024 my credit card was compromised and I had to cancel it and get a new one. I didn't realize I was paying Healthy Paws with that card. Healthy Paws did send emails but I never check emails and would expect a text message or phone call that my payment did not go through. In January 2025 they cancelled my plan. Again, I don't read my emails so I didn't know until a couple months later. I tried to call to get it reinstated but was told I would need to start a new plan. The only reason I purchased the insurance was so my doggy would be covered when he was older and not worry about preexisting conditions. I was transferred multiple times and put on hold trying to see how I can get insurance back. They just put my on a loop with no solution and I eventually gave up after 45 minutes. Just can't believe I paid for 7 years, barely used them and then to be dropped without any care for a simple payment error. Now my dog is without coverage during his most vulnerable years and I'm literally crying worried that I won't be able to afford care if/when he really needs it. I wish I would have just put the monthly payments into a savings account, I'd have $10kHealthy Paws

We realize there are times a policyholder's credit card used on the policy could be lost, compromised by fraud or that there may be a change in bank accounts, expiration date, etc. When an account goes into suspension due to the fact that we are unable to bill the card on file, we make every effort to keep policyholders up to date and informed about the status of their accounts and any upcoming action/changes. Multiple notices are sent via email, and a Notice of (upcoming) Cancellation is sent out via regular post as well. There is also an automatic ***** period that is taken into account. However, at a certain point, and at the end of the ***** ******* if we do not hear back from the primary account holder (prior to the cancellation effective date) the account must be canceled. In order to be equitable to all enrolled pet parents, we cannot make any exceptions to this policy. We're sorry to lose you as a policyholder and hope you and your pet stay well.
