On September 2, I parked in Diamond Parking lot (WU91-QFC) around 12:30 pm. I left, and then came back shortly before 4pm, I was in the store before 4pm. I was only in the store for a few minutes, and when I returned there was a $65 parking ticket on my windshield for time limit exceeded, The manager explained that was I parked the first time the "meter" (there are no meters) does not stop just because I left. Some people, like myself, run to the store more than once a day. There policy is just a scandalous way to con people of money.Business response

I purchased a parking ticket for this garage through "Spot Hero". This garage has listed (on the attached receipt) a few things to know about their business, but it doesn't include the fact that they close and lock the parking lot at night at some point. The exact time they lock it is still unknown, since this information is not listed on the receipt, or on the premises. The parking I reserved was from 2:00 PM to Midnight, as shown on the receipt. When I returned to the garage at approximately 11:15 PM, it was locked. Since we were several hours from home, this oversight (or scam) resulted in spending over an hour to locate a hotel vacancy serval miles away and paying for transportation to and from the hotel on top of the cost of lodging. When we returned to the car the following morning, the garage was open, but no attendant was on site, and a note with a hefty charge for parking overnight was found on the windshield.I am seeking a few things:1. A refund of the parking reservation 2. That they drop the additional parking charge 3. That they take responsibility for omitting the lock-out policy from their business listing on Spot Hero, and the inconvenience and unexpected costs that I (and many others) incurred as a result.I imagine this happens frequently, so they're bound to be aware of the issue. As a consumer, this felt like a scam.Business response

Dear Better Business Bureau,I received a bill today for an overdue parking ticket paid by ***** on my behalf for a ticket that was supposedly issued from Diamond Parking during my recent rental from Banff July 3-8, 2024. This an erroneous and false charge from Diamond Parking company. I never received a parking ticket and would have certainly paid any ticket before returning my rental. I have never been to this area of *******, was never at this parking facility at ************************* At the time of the supposed ticket on 7/6/24 at 23:41, I was parked in the hotel parking lot for the 2nd night in a row, many miles away in ****** enjoying my campfire with family. When I looked up the "photo and notice details" supposedly available on the Diamond website, there is no evidence or photo available.Could you please assist me in rectifying this situation? I am very concerned about these false charges being perpetuated. Please let me know if there is any further information I can provide. Thank you in advance for your assistance.Business response

On August 9 2024, I briefly parked in what I assumed to be a free spot to quickly load and unload some personal items which took around less than 5 minutes. However, upon returning just five minutes later, I discovered a parking ticket on my vehicle. The signage indicating that it was a paid parking area was not clearly visible. This gives the impression of a deliberate attempt to mislead individuals into parking there, only to issue them tickets afterward. It is right in the front ofmy apartment. I would appreciate a response from the vendor regarding this practice. If payment is required, the signage should be prominently displayed so that drivers are clearly informed of the need to pay in advance, rather than being obscured. I have attached the ticket image below with reference number. **********Business response

On Aug 12 2024 I had to use paid parking on ******************. After I parked my van I went to pay station to make a payment. I've never used those stations before and it was very complicated to process the payment. After struggling with that machine for 10 min I finally got payment processed and receipt printed. Before I left parking lot I put proof of payment on dash. When I came back I found ticket placed under windshield wiper. When I got home I sent proof of payment to dispute department and thought it will be cancelled. Next day I was informed that payment was made to City of ******* and S/B to Diamond Parking. I called City of ******* to get help and was told that I made a mistake and it's my problem since Diamond Parking is private owner. First time users are very confused how to make payment and there is no sign or instructions how to pay and no one to help. If 2 organisations using same pay stations there should be clear instructions how to do it right. If city of Seattle ticketing customers there is legal way to fight it, but Diamond just want to collect money as much as they can. City of ******* should take over all parking spaces and Diamond should be out of this business if they cannot make it convenient for customers. I followed the rules and made all efforts to do it right and should not be punished by paying extra $65 on the top of the parking fee that been paid on time. Diamond should have a way to get that fee back from city of ******* since they agreed to use same pay stationsBusiness response

I pulled in on a parking lot located in *************** ******* to drop off a document to ********************. *********** is located as well within the parking lot managed by Diamond Parking. I went inside the medical clinic and came back after around a minute and saw their parking staff taking pictures of my vehicle. The parking staff was just parked beside my vehicle as I saw him there before I went in. He said that I walked off the parking lot and the medical clinic is not part of their coverage. I said that I was just gone for 1 minute and there is no way for me to know that the medical clinic is considered outside of their coverage already as it is located within the parking lot. I tried to appeal to the parking staff to be considerate as he could have just called my attention to move my vehicle before I went in. He left an $83 parking ticket on my windshield and just told me to contact Diamond Parking to file a dispute.I felt that I was scammed by this parking company as they are not really prioritizing managing their parking lots but just waiting for unsuspecting victims to make thje tiniest justifiable mistake and make money from them. I have read online that there are more than a hundred complaints filed against this parking company already so that speaks volume of thier reputation.Business response

On June 30th, 2024, I parked my vehicle in an alley off to the side and not impeding traffic. This alley fed into a parking lot managed by Diamond Parking LLC. I was parked there for about an hour, and returned to find a ticket/notice on my windshield. I looked around the alley and confirmed that there were no signs posted at all. Not a single "no parking" sign, colored curb, or Diamond Parking sign. I felt comfortable parking there because there was no indication that it wasn't allowed, nor was there any indication that I was required to pay to park there. Otherwise, I wouldn't have parked there, or I would have paid Diamond Parking to park there.Since then, I have been working through the appeal process with Diamond Parking. We have exchanged a number of emails back and forth. Ultimately, after they made some claims that they could not support, they just told me that I had "broken terms and conditions for parking in this location". Again, the problem is that I never entered into business agreement with them because no sign told me that I was. So how could I have "broken terms and conditions"? I didn't even realize I was parking in a Diamond lot! I told them that a police officer cannot ticket you for speeding when there is no posted speed limit. This alley situation feels like entrapment on the part of Diamond Parking. I'm an innocent person parking in a place with no indication that I'm doing anything wrong or that I'm required to do anything to be there.Business response

Hello,
I missed the 7 day window to respond. Sorry about that.
Again, the response from Diamond Parking is ridiculous. The business response states that the fine is correct because:
- I was parked on private ********************
- There is a Diamond Parking sign in the ********************
The first point nullifies their authority at the location of my car. It would be up to the private property owner to handle unauthorized parking on their property, not Diamond Parking LLC.
The second point infers that a Diamond Parking sign hundreds of feet away applies to my vehicle location. So if I park on the street hundreds of feet from a Diamond Parking sign at the entrance of a lot, Diamond Parking has authority over the location of my car?
As usual with these sorts of things, it is not about justice. It is not about truth or fairness. It is not even about being reasonable. It is about money. It is about who can argue the longest.
