My wife *********************** and I were at a trade show and stopped at a booth. We played a dice roll game and won a trip to **********. We were told we had to attend a timeshare presentation to get our tickets and other incentives. We were told the presentation would last ************************************************************************* a high-pressure sales meeting. Salespeople told us the timeshare was a real estate investment which would increase in value, and which was a tax write-off. We were told the investment could be left to our children and that our children would have to pay the maintenance fees. We were already timeshare owners and were told we did not have enough points to have access to many of the benefits offered by the resort. Salespeople told us the upgrade would give us access to more resorts, earlier check-in times, discounts, unit upgrades and other perks. We were told trades for other resorts would be much easier with the purchase of additional points. We told them several times that we were not interested in making a purchase and did not think we could afford to do so. Salespeople told us we could vacation at any time of the year and that we could easily book accommodation around the world. We felt we had to buy the upgrade to leave. At closing, we were not represented by a real estate agent and no representative of the ********************** was present. We were told maintenance fees would not increase or would increase in only very small increments. We were not told we may have a right to vote on how the fees are used. We later tried to make trades using our points and found the system was very complicated and not easy to use. We could not make reservations during holiday seasons and other peak travel seasons. We are told no accommodation is available when we want to travel. We are now retired and have experienced a decrease in our income. We can no longer afford the escalating costs of the timeshare.Business Response

To Whom It May ********
Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to respond to this complaint. This owner purchased in 2015. They enhanced their purchase in 2016 and 2020. Each purchase it was documented and acknowledged that they had a seven day window to rescind the purchase; we did not hear from them during that time. Our records do not show that these owners called into our Owner Services department to go over their program or to let us know their dissatisfaction.
In January 2023, we received information from a scam company called Financial Recovery Advocates LLC which is a known Timeshare Exit Team scam company. The account was 36 days past due and the owners disputed 2 payments with their bank, bringing their account more than 60 days past due.
This account was cancelled in January 2023 as a loan default, and nothing further is due to either party on this account.
Sincerely,
***************************

I've been a member for 20 years. They instituted a pay to play scheme so that people have to pay extra for "advanced" reservations beyond one year, which is inconsistent with the contract I signed. This is a shady operation. I want my current balance refunded and to end the contract.Business Response

We attended a time share presentation with Vacation International who provided with many false promises!! Travel will be affordable, you will just pay a small maintenance fee yearly for upkeep, we have large condos with three bedrooms that are always available, and the list goes on and on. We were ushered into a tiny room then met with two very fast talking gentlemen, given free weeks here, and extra week here, free trip to ****** land here, and free trip here... Then a woman walks in and says sign here while the men distract you. All the free trips were not free, you have to pay fees and attend other travel presentations and thats if you can actually book them. We discussed the importance of being able to travel with 5 kids, they said no problem! We have never been able to see a condo available with over 1 room, every time I checked, nothing is available! We were also promised rewards with a Gold Interval plan, but the few times I used it for discounts on hotels rooms, the hotel said we have a better rate than them. I tried to ask questions within the first 48 hours of signing up so I could get some more questions answered and they wouldn't respond. I went back to the meeting place and they said the presentations are over, you will have to call the customer service number. I have tried to use this several times but like I said, nothing is ever available, under construction!! I have given up on getting anything scheduled, and havent paid the almost $900. yearly maintenance fee but continue paying on something we cant use. Your salespeople bullied and extorted ** and high-pressure sales tactics and outright lies combined with the complete unsuitability of your product have violated our consumer rights to a full and accurate disclosure of your product. We were not given time to read the disclosures but given a folder containing them after we signed. This company has made promises that are not legit and you can find Condos a lot more affordable on your own.Business Response

We went to VI Resort Headquarters for a 90 min presentation (We are Worldmark owners and used to high pressure sales) The first gentleman we spoke with was fine but after the 90 minutes he had ************************* come in. ************************* was verbally abusive, insulting and actually ended up grabbing a paper violently from my husbands hand and pushing him out of the way when we attempted to leave and called us a******* (We had surpassed our 90 min obligation at this point and were only leaving because he was being so intimidating). We have sat through several presentations with our Worldmark and had aggressive sales people but this was not that. He indicated we were stupid and told us we were popping off when we stood to politely leave. He seemed to be hostile and wanting to fight or was possibly on something. Regardless it was horrific and upsetting. I am concerned for others who may have to deal with him.Business Response

Vacation Internationale marketed a service to us that is nothing like what they said. Hotels are never available the dates we try to travel, and we do our best to be flexible. Aside from that, there is always a catch such as paying taxes for a particular trip or having to pay an expensive meal plan that costs more than the stay itself. In addition, we were told our GOLD MEMBERSHIP would give us exclusive discounts to major retail stores and instead I discovered they get us 5% off places like Wiener schnitzel or places we never frequent. Also, I have not once received a statement from them via mail nor any other means, telling me how much is left of my current balance. Even if I can obtain that information by calling, I need physical proof of the account statements and have never received them. Overall, I feel lied to and scammed because this membership is nothing at all like what was advertised to us in the info session. Had I known it would be like this I would have never signed up.Business Response

Thank you for allowing us to respond to your concerns. An email with the below information has also been emailed.
Customers Statement of the Problem:
Vacation Internationale marketed a service to us that is nothing like what they said. Hotels are never available the dates we try to travel, and we do our best to be flexible.
Hotel exchange and ********************* with priceline.com are available at www.intervalworld.com. You can choose to use points for any hotel or simple book paying cash at a discount.
Aside from that, there is always a catch such as paying taxes for a particular trip or having to pay an expensive meal plan that costs more than the stay itself.
VI Resorts has certain resorts that do require taxes to be paid by the traveler. You will notice any type of travel has tax charged. Our resorts are not all-inclusive and do not contain meal plans so yes, some resorts within Interval are all-inclusive however the majority are not.
In addition, we were told our GOLD MEMBERSHIP would give us exclusive discounts to major retail stores and instead I discovered they get us 5% off places like Wiener schnitzel or places we never frequent.
A discount using the entertainment app from Interval provides discounts. These vary depending on service.
Also, I have not once received a statement from them via mail nor any other means, telling me how much is left of my current balance.
You may log into my.*******.com to review your account and see your statement. When an owner is enrolled into autopay a monthly statement is not sent out. That is why you save over 2% a month in interest by going on autopay.
Even if I can obtain that information by calling, I need physical proof of the account statements and have never received them.
You may print them off online at my.*******.com
Overall,I feel lied to and scammed because this membership is nothing at all like what was advertised to us in the info session. Had I known it would be like this I would have never signed up.
You signed up for a right to use timeshare vacation plan using VI points with an exchange benefit with Interval International. The program works exactly as stated and we strongly encourage a ******************** at your sales location or with our Owner Services at **************. Our goal is to get you on a vacation, so when and where are you wanting to travel? We look forward to hearing from you so we can reach a mutual resolution to your concerns.

We entered into a contract with Vacation Internationale (VI), due to false representation of their ability to remove a different timeshare and access to vacation spots in the local area. On June 4, 2022 we went to the (VI) office only to obtain the free trip they mentioned for 2 nights in *********** or Seaside. We told them we were not interested since we already have a Diamond timeshare we are not able to use because there are no are no places available near us. ** told us that they have a lot in the area and that they could get us out of our Diamond timeshare within 3 months. We agreed and purchased the minimum for $8000 because we really wanted to be able to travel locally and we would be able to get rid of Diamond. ******* convinced us to transfer our Diamond points to VI and we can't even find a room anywhere. We were provided ************************* contact information to assist with everything. After many attempts over months to reach ***** about them getting out of our timeshare, he finally gave me the contact information for *********************. When I talked to *** he said that he could sell our Diamond timeshare quickly, I just had to pay $600 so he could list it. I researched ********************* and found out it was a scam and that people who paid him, never got their timeshare sold. We would have never bought into this timeshare if we had known that their vacation sites have no availability and that they were not being honest them helping us get out of the Diamond timeshare. We are new and ignorant to the timeshare world since we have only had our Diamond timeshare for a year and haven't even been able to use any of our points with Diamond. Now when I contact them they don't even respond. This experience has been very frustrating and everyone at VI just says, sorry for your experience, but nobody can help. We are in receipt of your BBB complaint in regards to representations made that VI would help you sell your Diamond membership. VI does not assist in resale of any timeshares; however did provide you a phone number to a broker whom we are familiar with. We apologize that your experience was not good but please understand he is not an affiliate of VI or an employee of VI.
We understand there is a lot of information that is given in a short amount of time and it is easy to have things lost in translation. Your sales representative discussed our DEO (Direct Exchange Option) that is available for owners who own other timeshares to deposit that week into our inventory yearly and receive VI points in exchange to use all of the VI points together. That is what occurred on your account back in July 2022. You deposited a week at *********** (now in the past) and received 70 VI points to use with your other VI point allocation.
When and where are you hoping to travel? Our **************** has not heard from you in regards to setting up a reservation and we would like the opportunity to get you back on track.
Unfortunately we are unable to give your *********** deposit back as it was in the past, but you did receive the 70 points in exchange that you can use to make a reservation. We would be able to reduce your loan amount in the amount of your maintenance fee from Diamond, as well as the $600 you paid to ********************* as a courtesy for this misunderstanding. Please review your VI Purchase and Security Agreement for further details of your ownership with VI.
Sincerely,
VI Resorts***************************

I am rejecting this response because: We were not overwhelmed by all the information. We made it very clear that we couldn't afford to have 2 timeshares. We told them many times that we could only afford 1 and that we don't vacation much. Finally they told us that if we bought int VI we would only be paying for both no more than 3 months. We did not have any experience with timeshares, so we didn't know that VI didn't sell them, we thought it was like trading in a car. Now we know different. I feel that this whole thing was misrepresented. We did understand the direct exchange, as that was explained very well. The problem we have is that we exchanged **** Diamond points to be able to travel within ********** and now that can't happen. We could only find random single days in **************** that were about a year away. We like to go stay at the beach for a week. As far as the corporate office not hearing from us, that is because ************************* told us we could just reach out to him for hel with any of our needs. Since *****'s title is "Travel Specialist" and he was working with us on most things when we were in the office, I thought he was the perfect person to help us. We were communicating with him via email to get some of our concerns addressed. Unfortunately, nothing has gone the way we were told and I feel like everything we were told was a misrepresentation.

We were in a whirlwind of a presentation for Vacation Internationale Resorts and ended up signing on to become members. This was the worst decision. Despite what they said about being able to go to any of their locations any time we want, we can never get more than a day or two in a row at any given location. And if we did manage to get somewhere, it was always being "updated". Meaning everything is under construction. Every year someone calls to talk us into buying more points. They never say how much it's going to cost, just how much the payment is going to be each month. Because of this, they were able to con me into $23,000! I can't afford this, especially since we can't use it. The last time they tried to talk us into buying more points, we said no for that very reason. Our financial situation has changed and we can no longer afford it. Even if we could, we have no desire to continue to use it. It's too difficult to book ************** than a day or two and the "resorts" are dirty and always under construction. Their promises of great vacations have fallen flat. After explaining all these issues in detail to ********************* at Vacation Internationale, all she said was she could defer some payments and lower our interest rates. This is not what we want. We want this out of our names completely and to be done with Vacation Internationale for good.Business Response

We have been writing to the company for over a year and have been ignored by them. This is the complaint we wrote to them.We are writing to inform you of our desire to cancel our ownership/membership of your timeshare. The many false promises, half-truths, and outright lies told by your salespeople in addition to the utter uselessness of this product compel us to insist that you cancel our agreement and refund our money. Our original purchase was marginally useful at best and Upgrading has rendered even that marginally useful timeshare worthless. The only real benefit we received was the free gifts that were used to entice us to attend the presentation. When your salespeople bullied and extorted us into upgrading to the points system we were leery of their claims but agreed to the purchase in order to leave the presentation. It is our belief that the high-pressure sales tactics and outright lies combined with the complete unsuitability of your product have violated our consumer rights to a full and accurate disclosure of your product. Availability is limited to last-minute deals which is not suitable to our needs. Due to the utter lack of availability, we have had to book hotels and other accommodations in order to travel. The added expense of a new mortgage is particularly unwelcome considering that money is paying for a useless product. It is our contention that the proven defective product you sell combined with the lies and bullying by your salespeople compels you to cancel this agreement and refund our money. Kindly send us any documents required to cancel this agreement as soon as possible so that this matter can be resolved.Business Response

**************,
Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to respond to your complaint. After reviewing your account, we see that you purchased in 2019 and enhanced your program at the end of 2019. We see that you have taken an average of two vacations a year with us since you purchased; but nothing since 2021.
The fee of $20 is the booking fee when using your points at any of the VI property locations; the fee for Bonus Time is on the VI website and goes from $65 a night and up depending on unit size and when available. we apologize that you were not able to make good use of this benefit.
At the time of this complaint, your account was 73 days past due and normally turned over to a third party collection agency for loan default. However, we have cancelled out your VI ownership and the balance in it's entirety per your request to cancel with no further repercussions to you; no funds are due to either party.
If you have any additional questions, please feel free to reach me at **********************
