I moved into a house the end of May this year to have more room to move my father in with me and my children and the property management company has neglected to handle repairs which has made it an EXTREMELY stressful environment for my family and myself. My father ended up going on hospice and had to be sent to a nursing home for respite care twice since moving into the home. I was out of work for a month due to the stress, missed a lot of other work days waiting for repair men that never showed up, we went without a fridge for 6 weeks (they provided a mini fridge the last 3 weeks because I complained to their corporate office in Virginia), and have been left without hot water on multiple occasions. I even had to get a hotel once because of no hot water. Work orders aren’t being taken care of which is causing my utilities to be very high (windows won’t shut and lock properly). My father ended up passing away on 11/8 due to the stressful nature of the home environment. The hot and cold water lines in the hall bathroom were backwards and we were not told prior to moving in which caused my dad and young son to be scalded multiple times. The only way I got the water lines corrected was because I called the county building code inspector who forced the property management company to correct the issue. There is still work that needs to be done to the home. I have 3 pages of issues since moving in. They are in breach of the lease and have caused my family and myself nothing but stress since moving in. My father had to spend his last days in a nursing home because he had to go on another respite stay due to the stress. The house was not ready for tenants when they rented it to us and they are not properly maintaining the home. My doctor has not been able to control my asthma since moving in and my son was hospitalized for 2 days for the worst asthma flare up of his life (sent by ambulance from NC to Norfolk, VA). My son has been in and out of doctors and ERs for breathing issues and allergic reactions since his hospitalization. He is now on 3 preventative medications for his asthma for the rest of his life plus inhaled breathing treatments. Most recently, my 2 children and myself went to the ER for congestion, cough, and breathing issues. I have an allergic reaction to whatever mold is in the home and am on eye drops for both eyes due to redness, swelling, and oozing. I had a mold inspection done and they found mold in the home, attic, and garage but no moisture. The mold inspector stated that the property management company put a coat of paint over the mold instead of properly treating it prior to us moving in. The mold is seeping through the layer of paint and causing health issues to everyone in my home and is probably the reason my dad declined so quickly after moving in then passed away. Mold spores are being circulated through the hvac system and then throughout the home. The windows in the attic are leaking still. All our belongings need to be fogged and sanitized according to the mold inspector (Howard Hanna refuses to give me a copy of the report). My doctor did blood work to check for mold in my system and they found antibodies. I am desperate for some help with this please.
